I am playing the Jaws of Hakkon dlc and I am getting completely owned. I am level 24 and enemies in one attack are draining full barrier, full guard and half my health. I had an easier time with the High Dragons.
I have Cassandra as tank, Inquisitor two handed Sword, Solas/ Dorian magic and Varric.
Due to limited Dragon materials I have not used them and not willing to use they in case there is Tier 4 armour in future DLC.
Can anyone recommend weapons and Armour with pommel, hilt upgrades etc to make my life easier.

Armor is the easy one, have all of your companions wear Ice Defensive armor. I just went through the Jaws DLC With an Artificer Inquisitor, Dorian, Blackwall, and Vivienne. All of them had Armor for high Ice resistance, close to the cap for it.

The main treat in JOH is a debuff called "Hakkon's Wrath". All human enemies will apply this on you when they hit you with their weapon shining a blue light. This debuff has at least 2 effects: a) decrease your ice resistance by 10% and, b ) multiply your damage taken. Also, this debuff stacks.
A original 50 damage taken after 10 x HW will become like 2k damage or more. so image it.
so, stacking ice resistance on armor will help a little, but the real key is:
a. Dispel a lot to erase this debuff
b. use control skill a lot to avoid getting this debuff.
b. Make the armor rating on your tank high enough so all the original physical damage taken become 1. Not sure what is the threshold, but I did 480 armor rating in nightmare and almost all the physical attacks only do 1 damage.
Only good armor and weapon won't be enough in JOH. you also need good tactics. especially in nightmare. Good luck.
