That spoiler just went all over the place. First, it's about statues, then octopi, then antifreeze and back to statues again. No, there are still desire demons, they just look different (Imshael). If you like the look of the old ones, they are available as statues all over the place. Here's a couple.
If you're interested in the statues, we were collecting them for a while on Spork's Oops thread, and here's what I think.

fact is, as much as I have enjoyed DAI, he became more PG in this edition compared to previous editions, has no gore, mentions of controversial subjects (subjects expected during a war). the removal of the desire demons is only one thing, among many.and the dlc is coming, I'll be really shocked if we meet one broodmather, because you know, not PC, and can be triggiring for some snowflakes
Sanitized is the word you're looking for. And it's true, we're in the middle of not one, but two wars - mages vs templar and demon/venetori vs inquisiton... how much evidence do we see of a war? refugees? nope. fresh corpses? rarely. battlefields? We get three burning houses in the hinterlands.
It's all very light. The witcher made me feel like i was in the middle of a war, dai made me feel like i was hiking in the woods. I was told about all the awful stuff happening, never actually saw any of it in the game.

What are you talking about? The Hinterlands had mages and templars fighting across the entire map; that's literally one of the first things you encounter upon arriving there. There's a whole line of quests dedicated to helping refugees in the Hinterlands and the Emerald Graves. The Exalted Plains is nothing BUT battlefields and ruined houses and the bodies of brutally murdered citizens, some of whom were killed in their beds. And if you want fresh corpses, check out the hideously dismembered remains of Inquisition troops during In Your Heart Shall Burn or the murdered servants during Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts.

True, there are corpses everywhere, along with tons of dead bodies hanging from trees, roofs and well...hanging posts. If you go through the Hinterlands, you'll find an almost obscene amount of dead folk lying everywhere. Hell, you get about a third of your quests from dead bodies. If their was a first person view, like in Skyrim, I don't think anyone would be talking about a lack of gore or death.

And lets not forget the red lyrium 'mine' and if Connor is alive he immoliates himself to keep from being possessed. Even in Wrath of Heaven, as things are falling from the Breach, bridges are being shattered people are being thrown to their deaths like rag dolls.
And then there's the haunted mansion quest in Emerald Graves.
