I will give you £6 if you give us more ability slots - anyone else?

Hi BioWare/EA,

There is bunch of topics, I know - but I'm going try a different angle.

I will make you a deal - if you give us more ability slots (or radial menu, or whatever) for abilities for single player of DA:I, I will give you £6. I am not kidding. Let me explain:

There are people who like 8 abilities, yes, and I am happy for them; but I am not happy for me, and I am pretty sure there are tens of thousands (maybe even hundreds of thousands) of people who have same feelings about this. So here is where I am making a proposition - make it an optional feature for £6 (DLC or whatever it actually would be).

Why £6?

Let's start with how much I love the Dragon age franchise, or Dragon Age Inquisition (despite few enormous flaws in this one).

The game is now ~£60 on full price where I live (yes, Britain, but not important!) and £6 is 10% of the whole game! That is actually pretty steep for a feature that should have been there in the first place - don't kid yourselves, it should have.

Do the math - if 10 000 people in bought this, you would get 60 000 - I know it's not that simple - exchange rates, relative prices per country, but let's not get into that.

There would be more money from us for you.

BUT you would gain even more then that - why? Because I (and again many others) will not buy any DLC at the current state of this, but if we got what we want (or what we need to play the game in my case - I didn't play DA:I since 28/03/2015 because of this), we would be more than happy to prolong our copy of the game by an additional content. Again, do the math - if just 1/3 of those 10 000 would buy all current DLC's after this, you would get ~68 000 for doing nothing after adding those slots!

There was no such ridiculous not limit in the first game, there was no such ridiculous not limit in the SECOND game; but suddenly, there is one in the third game, because... I have no idea?

Bunch of excuses like "it's more tactical", "it's more challenging", "it's about lore" blah blah blah...

I DON'T CARE! I wan't to enjoy the game (both lore && combat) I paid for (not on expense of others, like it is right now though), I don't care about the challenge, I just want to enjoy a great game this could be, after a long day at work.

I don't have any game development experience worth of mention, but it can't be that difficult - programming objects, testing and calling variables - few hours of work with your mastery. Trust me, it is worth of your time.

Please consider.

Fellow players:

I spoke for myself here, and for those feeling exactly the same. Any opinions on the change, agreements - voice them below.

I am looking to change the game for those who want it, not for ones who like it this way - I am happy for you and wish you to keep enjoying it, so please do not try to undermine this effort for people with a different taste, which would not affect you in any way.

Don't offer to give them more money, it will just encourage them to gate more game features behind paywalls.

That's a good point. Though, they would get there eventually. You know, I know, even EA knows how they feel about the money...

Warning EA - you do such a thing ever again, we will not buy anything from you! Ever! I didn't come long way from... ehm... less legitimate game downloads, to pay more than necessary... more than once.

Better?  ;)

Are you out of your freaking mind?  You start telling them things like this and they will start putting all kinds of things behind paywalls.  You want to have a mount?  $5.  You want to play as a mage and a rogue rather than just a warrior?  $5 each.  You want more companions beyond the basic 3 you start out with?  $5 each.

EA already has a crap load of people just sitting around thinking of ways that they can milk us.  Don't be giving them anymore ideas.

I am pretty sure that they have thought of this before - so nothing new under the sun. But they know that they cannot afford to do it.

Only games that can afford this are freemium f2p games.

If they start doing this - great amount of people will stop playing and eventually stop buying their games and they go out of business - they know it, that's why they did not employ this strategy. They walk right on the edge of obscenity to - as you say - "milk us" (completely agree btw). But they know if they pull the udder too hard, the cow will start to struggle.

The idea of having to pay just to get more slots is ridiculous. That is something that they should improve for free if they cared about their players at all, who have been asking for it since launch. But I wouldn't count on it happening, be it for free or paid. I don't think they intend to improve DAI in the slightest, it seems they are just releasing DLCs to be done with it and move on. (Not that I care anyway, because there isn't a thing Bioware can do that will save that game for me, unless they rebuild it almost entirely.)

I wouldn't pay them a single dime for extra ability slots--they should just give them to us because they're kind of necessary. I'm currently level 11 and haven't even gotten my specialization yet, and I'm out of quick ability slots. I mean...seriously?

That's the thing though.  I am not 100% convinced that there are not a lot of people out there that would throw buckets of cash at them if they implemented those sorts of things gradually enough.  Just look at all those who throw crap loads of money at games like candy crush, and all of the people here on these forums that absolutely refuse to admit that DA:I has any flaws whatsoever.

There's a reason they designed the game like this. It's called Multiplayer.

I'm not bashing Multiplayer, but it's clear that the limited slots and non party control action combat were what they needed/wanted for MP.

Not surprisingly, they didn't want to write an entirely different combat design for SP, so they doubled the hotbar and gave us a tactical mode for the SP game.

It likely had nothing to do with making SP more 'tactical.'

Well, when i played the game for the first time and used tactics vew a lot i thought the same. "There are no reasons to limit number of slots", i thought. But when i got tired of stupidness and awkwardness of tactics view and completely stopped to use it, i realised that in realtime fast combat i barely can use 8 hot keys in somewhat reasonable way. It takes me several hours to adapt to those 8 hotkeys. So, no more hotkeys for me, unless they make it possible to bind combinations of keys, like shift+1 or something like this.

ps. I am PC gamer obviously.

I'm with the original poster. I'd also pay $5 for some new hair options or even a new outfit! They already charge for DLC. Give me a DLC pack that's worth the money!

Wow, people are actually having trouble using 8 hotkeys in RT combat?

On topic, no, people shouldn't have to pay to unlock more quick-bars. There shouldn't have been an 8 quick-bar-slot limit in the first place. Like I have said many times, the 8 quick-bar slots limitation is one of the dumbest design decisions made by bioware.

line_genrou - this.... is absolutely brilliant, and I agree with everything.

I've been calling EA "Electronic Ar$€" for years (emphasis on the symbols).

Yes, the ability slots should have been there in the first place - but with this move, they employed the active use of their (slogan from the video), instead of passive use.

They know they are like that - they know, WE know they are like that. So if you want something from them, "please, please" won't do a thing. But give them money... and magic happens.

Relax people I think it's good idea, you know why such mod don't exist? Because nobody know how to do it. If they will release dlc like that moders will learn very fast.
