So i was reading the World of Thedas and came across this tidbit of info "The Architect was the High Priest of Urthemiel and the leader of the Builders "who constructed monuments to the glory of the gods" according to the Great Plan. In scripture he is one of the seven magisters who physically entered the Golden City in -395 Ancient. The High Priest of Urthemiel was the first Magister whom Sethius Amladaris, the High Priest of Dumat, approached to join in his endeavour to reach the Golden City. After being spoken to by Sethius, the High Priest of Urthemiel gathered all the acolytes and priests of Urthemiel at the Temple to seek counsel from their god. The Dragon of Beauty gave the same command as the Dragon of Silence: "Open the Gates". Persuaded of the rightness of Sethius' cause, the High Priest of Urthemiel joined his plan to reach the Golden City. Like Sethius' who was now referring to himself as "The Conductor of Silence", Urthemiel's High Priest took an alias to hide his identity in the endeavour, choosing "Architect of the Works of Beauty".[1] Like the other six magisters who reached the Golden City, the Architect was tainted and cast back to Thedas as the first of the darkspawn. Unlike Corypheus who was imprisoned and retained his memory of his life before, the Architect seems to have forgotten his prior existence as a person, knowing only that he is a unique darkspawn."
So it's now confirmed he was an ancient magister from Tevinter.

Architect never intended to kill the old god Urthemiel, because he was his beloved, everything that he say in DAA is a lie.

Gaider said that the Architect and Corypheus were the same when Legancy was released, however his amnesia seems to be worse than Corypheus', that or he is a better liar.

I figured that the Architect was one of the ancient magisters as soon as I saw him. But then he said he remembered being born as a unique darkspawn who was cast out by his fellow darkspawn, so I thought that maybe BioWare could go either way with that.

It was also possible that the Architect in Awakening simply found some history about the original Architect and then decided to emulate him and take up his title.

The last line about how the Architect can't seem to remember what happened does heavily imply that he is the original Architect.

However, WoT is incorrect and inconsistent with the canon in multiple ways regarding other issues. So I don't accept it as a valid source.

That being said, I do think the Architect in DA:A is the original Architect.

DA:I has a codex describing a story of a dwarf who once saw three large darkspawn dressed like kings arguing over something and blaming each other for things they couldn't remember. One of them ate another while the third fled. Could the one who was eaten be the Architect, while the one who ate him was Corypheus? If so, then the Architect may have respawned in a nearby darkspawn and because of this his memory was lost. It would also explain why he thought he was born as he was. In this case, the Architect may have survived if the Hero of Ferelden slayed him in Awakening.

I actually asked someone this the other day. I was told that Corypheus seems to have been imprisoned at the time of that encounter, and the Architect had not yet awakened. In any case, he states that he has not encountered any of the other High Priests since returning from the Black City, in his memories.

Assuming that Corypheus's body-hop ability is not unique to him, and is just part of the Seven's abilities thanks to getting the Blight from the source, then the Architect is certainly alive. Even if his body-hop ability was shorter-ranged, Seranni is right there as a tainted individual.

We see a LARGE (Architect/Corypheus size) Darkspawn emissary in "The Descent" trailer .... although it's clothes were pretty bland.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow if its a magister or just a regular enemy. With that said, I just can't believe that Architect to be a regular, but intelligent, Darkspawn since his clothes are too ornate ... and beautiful, moreso than Corypheus

Yeah but Corypheus' memories are messed up too. He didn't seem to remember the Golden City, and Cole confirms in banter with Dorian that Corypheus' memories are like a faded painting with dried blood at the edges. The crystals in the Temple of Dumat also could have been reflections of Corypheus' distorted memories. Finally, there is the Nightmare, which is known to feed on bad memories. Maybe Corypheus fed it some of the memories he wanted to forget in order to make himself more able to carry out his own will as well as to make the Nightmare stronger.
