Hi all

Has anyone made a hak or an override of Wild Woods

MidlandRoad-1024x574.jpg

I love the tileset just not the color's is all. I would like the color's to look more rich/brighter. Something more like.

Any way thanks for your time.

Tukaram had created several retextured variants of Wild Woods for his Italian PW. Their original post is here: http://forum.bioware...ds#entry7496279

Fall, spring, swamp, winter and a few more versions were done.

Links however are dead.

The PW appears offline as well and the hak links broken there too. You might however be able to post there and ask if anyone has them still to share. Link to forum: http://neverwinteritalia.forumfree.it/

Yes, its in Italian ... good luck. :)

I really like the grass in this pic.

All the other pic links they had wasn't working. I hope he didn't just quit working on it.

Thanks Kalbaern

I was able to get a hold of a group of haks that has the revamp in it. Here is a screenshot of me running around in the tileset.

Now that is a thick forest, just think of the deer that could be in there.  :D

But now I have to see if I can get just the files I need because it is combined with all kinds of other haks.

Its a whole bunch of haks like CEP or Project Q they are found here

I trying to recreate the same look by making an override for wild woods. I still have a long way to go but I have started.

5dvtkz.jpg

I made a hak that only has 3 dds files so far to override wild woods.

Is the grass a little to bright, should I darken it up a bit?

Man I am having way too much fun doing this. All I ever want to do any more is be on NWN. This can't be good for real life  :( .

that grass looks fine in the screenshot. keep at it.

I was looking through the HAKs for that Italian NWN project and was surprised to see that they bothered to create separate tilesets of wildwoods each with altered textures. You can find the files in b.c.m.update01. Since NWN does not allow on the fly texture swapping this ends up being really resource intensive. Having to copy the MDL file just so that you can change a texture name is crazy.

Anyway, I just wanted to comment on this. Seemed like craziness to me.

Does the redish brown leaves look better then the all green?

I think it makes the bushes pop out a little more, where the all green ones tend to blend in more.

isn't that toro's grass that you are adjusting the hue of?

i prefer the reddish brown, but the contrast you have going on there is interesting and might be more of what you are going for.

Question is there a way to keep the grass from moving? Its moving around like grass on an open plain.

Grass can be toggled On/Off by the client/player. So can animations for grass, or at least some of them.

Ya I think I am happy with this for now. I just have to use overcast to get the lighting I want for being in the woods. It also helps the to darken the colors just a bit as well.

To retexture wildwoods is realy simple. _Six did everything to make sure his textures are not complicated and easy to swap!

I played around with it a little more and this is with an overcast to make the area and color's a little darker.

That last one isn't something I'm used to seeing. Almost looks like a different tileset with that kind of grass. Personally I think either making the dirt match in saturation, or desaturating the grass would be better.... but heck maybe the contrast itself is what makes me like it.

Looking good, but with such a dense canopy overhead, would the greens really be that vibrant at ground level?

Well that is really the Q Castle Exterior Rural tileset or should I say one of your favorite tilesets Pstemarie. So there will be a lot more open area, less trees, which is why I went for the more vibrant greens for that tileset,

Which is also the reason the ground hasn't been changed because I can't seem to find the .dds file for that tileset's ground.

That depends on how you see it.  If it's a moderate forest (with a bright skybox), you'd have a lot of light getting through.  If it foggy--as is shown-- and dark, maybe not.  Regardless, I rather like the way it looks with bright grass.  Just don't ever drop anything in all that tall grass.  ;)

Here you can see some of the TNO keep walls from the wild wood tree line on a bight clear sunny day.
