Double XP Exploit

Hello,

This has now been fixed with the patch on PC/X1/PS4.

A cap has also been applied to PC/X1/PS4/PS3/X360, so while you may see yourself getting double XP, it is not applied to your account.

Gold was never affected by this although it looked like it was.

Thanks,

Blair

Thanks, Blair.    How does the cap work?  Or, put another way, if a game generates alot of XP legitimately, can we have confidence that we'll get it?  Or will that be impacted by the cap?

Can you explain this 'cap' Blair?  Are you saying there is a hard cap of so many exp per match per difficulty?  If so is this cap a very high cap that is not so high as to be double but still high enough to afford differentiation between matches?

Thank god. Maybe at last we will stop seeing the daily threads moaning about this.

Also, is the exploit fixed or just the symptom capped?

I suspect the symptom has been capped.

Not good.  And not even worrying about going from level 1 to whatever, it is going from levels 15 to 20 that I have a problem with.

Symptom is fixed on PC/X1/PS4, and we've kept the capping that we applied to all platforms as a backup.

Since PS3/360 do not have the patch, the capping is the solution.  So, you may SEE double xp or gold, but it will not actually give it to you at end of match.

The capping takes into account the max possible XP players could legitimately get on a level.  It is adjusted for each map and difficulty.  You will not be punished playing normally.

If the glitch has been fixed, can we get the cap removed?  I mean, what purpose does the cap have now that the glitch is removed?

Please disregard, didn't see Fiddzz latest post.

Not to beat a dead horse continually. But will the people who abused the exploit be dealt with? And I am not talking about those that only did it a handle full of times cause they landed in a pug match that was glitched. I am talking about those the continually did so on a regular basis. I am not even asking for permanant bans. Maybe suspensions, loss of promotions, loss of gear and gold earned in glitched matches/lobbies..

I wish I could quote Fiddzz from a locked thread, here is the link instead http://forum.bioware...-bug/?bioware=1

Number 3 specifically states that offenders could be banned. Or I assume some other kind of punishment.

I ask this cause Bioware as a company have dealt with similiar situations in other bioware games.

http://www.swtor.com...075#edit8165075

http://www.swtor.com...124#edit7999124

http://www.swtor.com...169#edit8287169

Each a unique exploit, each with very similar standard of punishment for continuously abusing said exploit.

I would like to believe that bioware maintains those standards across all Bioware divisions.

I have read many of the threads regarding this issue. And all I can recall is a Bioware employee saying the double xp issue is being looked into. Now that it has been patched. Is that it? Does Bioware have a comment on the guilty offenders? Or is everybody that willing and knowingly took advantage of an exploit have a permenant advantage over those of us who did not?

Cause if nothing happens with those abusers. You as Bioware are setting a precident in DAIMP to use any ingame exploit without fear of punishment. If that truly happens you run the risk of losing a considerable amount of your remaining players.

Not to beat a dead horse continually.

That is precisely what you're doing. Please stop and wait for an official response from Bioware.

We've stated many times what our plan of action was going to be, you even said it in your question...

"states that offenders could be banned."

They might ban people, they might suspend people. If you didn't glitch and have nothing to worry about, it shouldn't be any of your concern who or how they ban.

Perhaps. At the end of the day though. There is a difference between saying it is being looked into. And saying they need time to assess all the data before they deal with the exploiters. Of the latter, I have not personally seen a post made by a Bioware employee regarding that. With the exception of something saying punishment "could" happen. Which is the one i linked to by Fiddzz.

Whiny much? You already got your answer and yet you keep beating the dead horse.

Yes, false accusations are really classy. It was a direct quote from your post; not my fault you subsequently tried to hide what you wrote.

Seriously, people, this is a pinned thread meant to be informative. Any p*ssing matches probably ought to be taken to PMs. For the sake of not urinating all over an informational, pinned thread; for the sake of Blair's sanity; and for the sake of everyone else who's already suffered through 80,000 threads and posts of the exact same thing over and over and over and over again.

And I say this as someone who isn't really keen on people cheating. But even I'm getting tired of reading the same thing ad nauseum, and now it's just descending into snide remarks at each other.

Let. It. Go. Or. Remove. It. To. PMs. Please.
