Anyone else wouldn't mind seeing these graphical effects when using high powered weaponry? Do you think these effects would be fitting for the tone of the game? Discuss.
Exploding heads, severed limbs, and bissected torsos, Oh my?

Yes & no.
I'd be okay with graphic depictions of violence so long as it wasn't gratuitous, and so long as it was plausible. Some video games in the past have tried turning up the violence or gore factor, only for it to be completely cartoonish (which is okay if that was the goal). Dragon Age 2 is a great bad example of going overboard. Why were fully armored people exploding into a million pieces when Hawke hit them with his sword?

I'm with HSF on this one. I don't mind the violence being graphic and dynamic in a way that lends weight to the violence, but I would be adverse to it being taken into a cartoonish extreme. That's a narrow path to walk.

Agreed. A dagger poke making people explode was silly. It's why i had made note of the effects being the product of high powered weaponry.

I wonder how much room special effects take up in Mass Effect's memory budget. Unless BioWare want to make a real thematic point about gore and violence (something I don't see them doing any time soon), I'd rather see the game's memory budget be spent on cool particle effects rather than gibs and gore.

If the Mako gets a cannon added to it before release, there should definitely be some gore attached to that. There shouldn't be much left of mooks who take a direct hit. The same should also be true for some of the heavy weapons, if they make a comeback.

In the End, I'd say one should maybe divert their Resources elsewhere, but there are Things that would be more of a Waste of Time and Resources.

As long as the amount of gore is dependent on what kind of weapon is used, for example a .50 caliber sniper rifle is going to do more damage than a handgun to the target.

I would like to see it taken (as others have said) with a more realistic and mature tone, and no, mature in this case doesn't mean gallons of blood and giblets on screen because: "Its rated M."
Personally, I never had a problem with games like Halo, or even Dead Space, because both of those titles used a level of gore and violence that made sense for each setting. DA 2's exploding people, or God of War's blood orgies just made me roll my eyes.

Only with shotgun's, sniper rifle's, and the gun's like N7 Valkyrie and Big Iron and Hand Cannon.

Mass Effect has never highlighted its violence like Doom or Gears of War has. If it makes sense in application, sure, let it happen. I did like how the various weapon mods would liquify or turn enemies into ash, I want that to stay, but scattering guts for the sake of the violence is better left to other people who are about that.

This. A 50 cal rifle that utilizes eezo tech would seriously maim human sized synthetics or organics.

I'm sorry, but A means Awesome. Something awesome like exploding vampiric ninjas was entirely warranted.

In ME2, you can blow off a those mech's heads, arms, and legs.. Rendering them useless in combat. We should be able to blow the limbs off organic enemies to render them useless in combat. Quickly disable the immediate threat, then press on to other foes during battle.
I don't need to see an exploding body or anything with "gore." I am not a prude, just don't see the need for over-the-top violence.

Headshots in ME3 were satisfying... I didn't feel like "Yay, 250% bonus damage!". I was more like "Yeah, boom". It isn't necessary, but some gore can be ''good''. If you have a power called "Carnage", do you seriously expect it (when fatal) to be clean and bloodless?

Yeah, it would make sense given the nature of our weapons. I just hope the characters doing the killing actually have emotional responses that fit the level of gore. Would be sort of jarring to see them walking among a field of mutilated corpses of people they just killed in battle and just not care.

I approve, head popping was one of the most fun little things about ME3. I hope for it's return and for the inclusion of limb removal, even better yet, being able to blow apart specific parts of them(ex. the forearm or thigh).

Quake = gibbed = chunks everywhere. But, have the option to tone down and/or turn off gore for those who'd rather not see it.
