Aaryn Flynn today on twitter speaks about how a first-person mode might work in Mass Effect: Andromeda. "I think it would be a great idea to have a first-person perspective; you could witness the vast open landscapes in a new way that really could fit in the Mass Effect universe and players can battle on foot and drive vehicles like the Mako and Hammerhead hovercraft in the new multiplayer modes." Let's hope he doesn't go with this terrible...terrible idea. - JangoFett

As long as you can switch between first and third person, like with Bethesda games, I don't see any problem with them adding a first person mode.

I hope not, games with both FPS and TPS often feel clunky with execution. If they ever decide to do that, focus on TPS aspect. A lot of the games with both features have FPS as their priority.

I've yet to see a game that allowed both first person and third person perspective that actually turned out okay.  Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim had it, and the third person "option" was awkward and clunky.

Stick to third person perspective.  Stop trying to fix things that don't need fixing in your games, BioWare.

If it is done well, and 3rd person is still available, I am OK with it. And ME3 had it in the Leviathan DLC, as well as other MEC units, and it seemed to work.

Will this 1st person perspective extend to the sex scenes? If so I'm in, 10/10 will pre-order twice.

I looked up Aaryn Flynn's Twitter, and he hasn't tweeted anything like this.

Everyone here is missing the better part of this quote! They said Mako and Hammerhead, like we'll be getting both! FPS perspective could be cool but only if optional also.

Yeah thats the bigger news to me. Considering BioWare has toyed with first person in Mass Effect before with a reworked game, of all things, i'm not surprised honestly. They reworked it into the Multiplayer mode of ME3 before, so it is possible they will do something like this again.

But multiplayer Mako battles...now thats interesting...

As for the first person....not the biggest fan of it. Works well in something like Skyrim for sure.

One thing that, to it's credit at least, that can work is a zoom in on conversations in first person. In Inquisition, the third person camera was a bit more impersonal when doing conversations outside of cut-scenes. I think the zoom-in to first person might help remedy that a bit.

That might be difficult to pull off though. It also depends on how the game is done. GTA V for the PS4 had a first person mode added...wasn't too bad, actually. Very wobbly and a bit off-kilter, but I liked the physics of it.

Op said it. "Terrible Idea."

FP games are soooo overdone. One of the best things about ME is that it is third person.

I'd rather them just stick with the cover based third person shooter combat.

No thanks. What I want to see is cinematic dialogue. If ME:A is going to be open-word first person shooter then it sounds very bad.

I agree with Panda. We need a juicy storyline to sink our teeth into.

I wouldn't mind it as long it's optional like GTAV. If it becomes a first person only then I would probably be mad.

I would most likely still play the game though

Well that sucks. Could you please provide the specific sentence of the developer. Please?

I don't want FPS.

That quoted passage is more than 140 characters long.

Are you sure you saw this?

Also, if this is even real, I'm pretty sure there's already a thread this could have gone into.
