I have real trouble playing first person so I tend to avoid those types of games.
Besides what would be the point of customizing a character if you can't even see he/she in the game?

It would be interesting in a Bioware game. I loved the interactive in-gameplay dialogue in DA:I (the press "button" to bring up dialogue wheel during running around and stuff) and I think that'd be perfect if a game was in first person.
But I don't know... I think if it's first person I actually prefer it to be completely in-game like Half Life 2 with no cutscenes where you suddenly see your character in third person. Both ways work, but I just think it's a missed opportunity to put a Bioware game in first person if all dialogues are third person anyway.
If it's implemented like in GTA V, I see no problem.
Worked in GTA, and that's a predominantly 3rd person game as well. I think the neat thing about that mode in GTA isn't so much that you would play the whole game in 1st person, but that you can get a different perspective on everything especially driving.
I don't have a problem with first person options in games; I generally play in third person but the first person can be useful at times.
Speaking of GTA, I hope they take my suggestion which could fix the DA:I-type dialogue problem, where you have your free-camera angle during conversations but then if you press circle/b it changes to cinematic camera, kind of like when you're driving cars. I think a lot of people were fine with the rather static cinematic angles of the conversations in ME1 and DA:O, so that'd be the best solution if BIoware sticks with DA:I-type conversations.
I'd rather them just stick with the cover based third person shooter combat.
What exactly is "cover-based" shooter? I mean it's cover in there, alright. But it isn't exactly what defines the gameplay - especially when you go to ignore hard cover for the most time.
It wouldn't be the first time in a Bioware game. KoTOR had a First Person Shooter view.

Any game where interacting with cover is built into the game mechanics is a cover shooter (i.e. "Press 'A' to take cover"). Moreover, I'd say that cover definitely defines Mass Effect's gameplay because it slows down combat encounters enough to make power usage more optimal.

Yeah, but KoTOR didn't have any actual animations tied into FP mode. I also just tried it in KoTOR II and apparently you can't move in FP mode at all (unless I'm doing something wrong). It's effectively pointless.
One more remark to add to the pile indicating that ME:A will be little more than a Destiny clone
Everyone here is missing the better part of this quote! They said Mako and Hammerhead, like we'll be getting both! FPS perspective could be cool but only if optional also.
The Hammerhead stunk IMO. It was hard to maneuver and was under powered.
I hope not, games with both FPS and TPS often feel clunky with execution. If they ever decide to do that, focus on TPS aspect. A lot of the games with both features have FPS as their priority.
It could work. Take a good look at Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It combined both FPS and TPS elements together and it worked really well. If BioWare goes down that route, with added option to always stay in third-person instead of switching to first-person when out of cover, then I can see it working really well.
It's hard to see how they could do a cover based TPS now that they're trying to create massive worlds. Going FPS with a TPS view isn't a bad idea.
didn't need cover for combat in the first game. And their cover-based mechanics were clunky at best anyways. I'm not worried about it.
Nooooo.... Unless its metal gear like

Will this 1st person perspective extend to the sex scenes? If so I'm in, 10/10 will pre-order twice.
Aaryn Flynn didn't write this, I did just to see what people really want in ME:A and it really saddens me to know people want a first-person mode in this game.
What?
Do you mean the turret mini game?
You can hot capslock (or something like that; you can check the key bindings) at any time to enter "First Person Mode." As I said earlier, it's basically pointless because you can't actually do anything in it.
My guess is that the mode was created for the turret section and the devs attached the command to a hotkey and never bothered to get rid of it. Or maybe it's helpful for looking at faces real closely, I don't know.
Firstperson mode, perhaps with an OcculusRift or something like it aswell? Could be interesting if it was supported. Flight sim or vehicle driving is probably best with a Rift, but still... Playing a character running with a rift might be less intuitive.
Depends on how interesting the Environments are I guess.
First person is hard enough to achieve (mostly just animations and whatnot, but still work), VR support should be totally out of the question. It's not as easy as just flipping the VR switch on in the engine (if Frostbite even has native VR support); it requires pretty extensive testing, FOV adjusting, and animation tweaking to get right.
Besides, I don't expect EA to jump on the VR train until the product is out and a sufficiently large consumer base has formed.
