I do have to question how this will handled in Andromeda, I hope they use a similar system to that of Mass Effect 2 (albeit with the ability to customize your weapon with attachments like scopes, grips and underbarrel attachments and whatnot) where each weapon is unique and you don't have to worry about farming for upgraded variants in order to damage higher level opponents.
For some reason I can't help but fear that Andromeda will be infested with a loot system similar to that of games like Inquisition, Destiny, Diablo 3 and the Original Mass Effect where you constantly have to be on the lookout for upgraded versions of virtually identical pairs of trousers that have higher numbers than your previous pair in order to stay relevant against enemies that are virtually identical to the lower level enemies only with higher numbers in areas like damage and health. I don't know how this system got so popular in most mainstream RPGs as I have yet to see a game where the system actually adds anything other than a tedious annoyance.
I mean if you upgrade your health and damage and your enemy upgrades their health and damage how does the experience change? Health bars still deplete at the same rate due to the increased damage negating the increased health pool so what does this trouser micromanagement mini-game actually add to the larger game as a whole?
Equipment options are great but only when they add variety to the gameplay, forcing the player to upgrade a gun from I to X for the mere sake of it is just tedious.
