I'm trying to download the update via Origin, but the server really *****. I've been downloading for over two and a half hours now, and the progress is only 710KB. Most of the time the network speed is 0bps and after a while error message just pops up and I need to wait for ages for it to resume again.

Usually a 2GB file only takes less than 5, 10 minutes to download on my broadband. This speed is just... NOT RIGHT! How can you expect someone to wait for 1800 hours for an update to finish? It's ridiculous.

Edit: The network speed suddenly jumped to 1MB per second... for less than a minute, then back to 0 again :( Got me all excited and then knocked me back down. This is starting to get on my nerves, after wasting my whole morning starring at the download screen in agony.

Edit: Problem solved.

And I can't play the game now because I can't cancel the update :(

The pause and cancel button are both grey (i.e. not available).

Edit: finally the "resume" process is over after the error message pops up. Still 0bps so I cancelled the update and tried the run the game without it. Sadly the game still says I must update it first and it's just not going any where with that 0bps network speed.

Have you checked your broadband speed in the background just to see if there is a problem. I downloaded it about 16:30 UK time yesterday and it was ok, about 10 mins in total.

Yup everything else is normal, just that Origin is not downloading anything at all. In fact, the reason why I still can post right now shows my broadband still works. :(

Of course your broadband is working, but posting here is a little different from downloading a file. I was referring to the download speed. Sometimes if there are localised problems the downand up speed can be effected. It has happened to me, not often.

OP,when the speed is reduced to a level Risorius, just pause the download and resume here usually solves the problem

You can try nuking the partially downloaded update.

1. Make sure Origin is not running.
2. In Windows, go to "Folder Options -> View" and enable "show hidden files and folders".
(Google around if you don't know how to do this.)
3. Go to C:\ProgramData\Origin\LocalContent (ProgramData is a hidden folder so you won't see it if you didn't complete step 2)
4. Look for a folder that has the same name as your stuck download, and delete that folder.

Thanks all :) Finally after 5 hours of error and resumes, I got lucky for 5 minutes with decent network speed and finished the download. Agony is over.
