After Thessia falls, the asari councillor says "they must take precautions to ensure continuity of civilization."

Now I don't know much about the ark theory or what people been saying about the ark theory, but do you think that's what she's talking about?

It's been batted around. It'd be a neat tie-in for sure. Either way, it may or may not be.

It's been discussed in several threads. Several of us thinks that that might be when the expedition to Andromeda launches. After which the Asari are said to start contributing Resources to the Crusible Project. Before that Point they might have been busy preparing the Ark fleet.

All guess work by us fans until BW tells us what they settled on.(Likely when they release the game and we get to see the story for ourselves)

Interesting in an intellectual sort of way.

Many forget that the ME:A game starts ".. long after the events ..." and these musings of how we got to the Cluster are probably in a Codex, somewhere..... totally irrelevant to the new game. Historians might argue amongst themeselves about who was who and who did what.

If the premise of the game is true, everyone is too busy surviving and have no time "for idle chatter".  If the colony survives at the end of the game, then the colonists will have time to "breathe" and "wonder" how they got there in the first place.

I admit that the Asari quote has potential, if Bio decided to use it as a jump-off point for the new story.

"Long after" could be when people wake up from Cryo, or just about anything. It says nothing. It's just another of those things for fans to speculate about.
The only reason to go to Andromeda would be the ME3 endings and avoiding touching that subject. No matter what people feel about that.

Tevos probably went into a personal bunker with a capsule of her people's culture and history. Unless I'm mistaken, no council member is ever seen or heard from again after Thesssia.. She could conceivably repopulate the entire species by herself. Goodbye cycle. It's been a blast. It's gotta be true, man.

You can complete the AY-monastery mission after Thessia (Tevos' dialogue is slightly different, she talks a bit about the evacuation efforts)

If it isn't what she was referring to....it should be.

The devs probably didn't know they were going to set a sequel in Andromeda while developing ME3, but that line is perfectly suited for being tied to the sequel. The project that gets colonists to Andromeda should be something the Council set up during the Reaper War.

That's a very good question but maybe they did and there will be Protheans in Andromeda. It wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that way.

They did. Sort of.

While the Protheans didn't try to colonize another galaxy as far as we know, they did try to hide pockets of their population within the Milky Way until the Reapers departed. That is basically the same strategy, except the Protheans chose to stay closer to home. Sending colonists to Andromeda is basically from the same playbook as Ilos or Eden Prime, the only difference is that the Protheans played it safe and stuck to explored space while the Council (or whomever) is gambling on travel into the unknown.

I usually just tune out and click the positive button when an Asari talks, don't know why but I missed this because of that. It seems plausible I guess.

What, just because they were more united, advanced, and already tried something like it on Eden Prime, what makes you think they'd try an Ark if it was feasible?

After the popularity of Javik I wouldn't be surprised if the Andromeda colonists find a Prothean enclave there. I hope that isn't the case and prefer they remain extinct, but I think it would be more like Bioware to bring them back than have Javik truly be the last.

Protheans went to Andromeda first. Implemented their own take on Mass Relays. Dominated and assimilated the native species. We arrive, and they're the antagonists of ME:A.

Tevos? That's the first asari councilor? Never had her in any of my ME2/3 playthroughs. It was always the other one

That line in ME3 serves its own story's purpose, dramaturgically, so I'm hesitant to think it was an intentional link to the next game. But as Han Shot First says, they definitely should connect those dots and make it a clue :)

Why didn't the Protheans think of this

They didn't have years of warning to prepare, like we did. Even though it's officially disputed ('Ah, yes, "Reapers"...', etc.), it's very likely they would unofficially prepare, at least to some extent, behind the scenes. The Protheans, on the other hand, suffered the usual surprise strike that made anything but feeble resistance possible. Those fragments of the Prothean empire that survived the initial onslaught could probably barely survive - organising an Ark might've been way beyond them.

you're probably right. But I really wish they'd just leave it with Javik. The guy absolutely stole the show in ME3 (imo).

They can remaster the trilogy down the road at anytime, and we can be reintroduced to these characters with a fresh coat of paint and remember why we loved them so much. It's not worth messing with the lore, or the gravity of it.

The Chance to find hints for Andromeda is higher in the Citadel dlc i think. Its temporally closer to the main production phase of MA:A.
There are many named and unamed unknown NPC who could make appearance in MA:A
