For me? Huge dissapointment, i know that for some people Descent will be much better than JoH, but i actually enjoyed that more. Granted it was nice to see Deep Roads again, for whatever little there was of them but there was just so many things wrong with this...

First off, the worst thing, why Titans? How long did it take you to think that up, didnt we already know that dwarfs are children of the stone, why mix some random titans into it, the fact that lyrium was alive was an amazing find, by saying that its this titans blood, you make it seem cheap and over with, especially with them stiring once in a thousand years or whatever. We already have sooooo many questions about the stuff we know, why add something as wierd as this and than explain absolutely nothing about it, and leave everything as it was, without a single frikin change to the world, what the hell!

Secondly Valta at the end, it is exactly the same as leaving whatever her or his name was at the end of Legacy alone, it is so obvious there is something wrong with her. Together with us knowing absolutely nothing about anything that has actually happened, been happening or will happen, doesnt it seem like a good idea to actually ask her? Or take her out of there instead of just, oh you want to stay here, right cya ******.

The whole thing is just so small minded and not fleshed out, when Valta first talked about titan i was like, no way that is the big thing that they were hinting at in the trailer, i was waiting for Sandal to make some crucial appearance or some big secret to be revealed, like there is a new archdemon infused with blighted lyrium or whatever, something actually threatening and interesting not something that we have never ever heard of, had any notion of it possibly existing and it not being very fleshed out or interesting to begin with. In grand scheme of things, nothing that had happened here is of any import

Content wise it was fine, still small for 15 euro, but it was fun, and nice enough looking to be fine with it and i do appreaciate the fact that they tried to tell a interesting story even if it was obviously made to be just a dlc and have no larger impact at anything but that choice of the "twist" or ending or whatever it was, was just so poor i cant even belive it :(

thirldly, it was so small in sense of believability. Our companions were barely there, their dialogue seemed like something they had prevoiced acted for the original game and it was just used here since it wasnt used before, and there was so little dialogue. Not just between us and our companions but between all the characters, both Renn and Valta were fine but that was it. The "legion" of the dead was just two or three frikin soldiers, i mean OH MY GOD, there were more of them in Dragon Age Origins when we met them in the deep roads, this game should be able to make it seem like there was actually a legion or at least a platoon fighting with the darkspawn, there were barely any, both darkspawn and legion of the dead soldiers...

No offence Bioware, dont want to bash you, its your game and your lore, i still liked it well enough but it was simply meh. Point being it was so streamlied and bland in terms of originality that i did not belive that it even belongs to the world of Thedas.

Hopefully next time you guys will do better, gl with that, looking forward to the next DLC, if we ever get one :)

Also, everyone is entitled to their opinion, if any of you guys liked it, good for you :)

Ash, I think I found a purple coat off the Highland Ravager that looked like that coat, but it didn't last me very long due to the stats being overshadowed by my crafted gear.  Do you happen to know the name of that style and if there's a schematic for it?  I really loved the way it looked, and I wish I had been able to keep the style.

That coat is the Refined Battlemage Coat, schematic is available from a merchant in Jaws of Hakkon DLC. I use the Battlemage Coat Arms and Battlemage Coat Legs to go with it, both those upgrade schematics are random drops in chests (or if lucky random chance to purchase if you have the right Inquisition perks).

Considering that Cory brought into question the Maker, and the Elven deities were also questionable, I personally am rather satisfied that the Dwarven Stone is also on the list. My guess is that the next title will deal more with the answers, and for one, am happy to wait.

About time they gave us some info, however little it is. I actually kind of like how all of the pantheons, except forgotten ones and Old Gods, have made an appearance (visibly or via text-exploration) in one way or another in the one game.

The Old gods were explored a bit in Legacy, if I recall correctly. There was a Temple to Dumat that offered some lore and background to Cory.

Aye but I was meaning just the one game hehe, I know there's been a bit in previous games, I was just saying how I like how many of them have popped up in just DAI alone. Hence my "have made an appearance (visibly or via text-exploration) in one way or another in the one game." . For Old Gods, only Razikale's temple thing so far sadly, there's still time.

I hope we'll get closer to the story of Andraste once more. If we ever did because it's proven the spirits we met in the Temple of Sacred Ashes in DAO were not the actual spirits of those people. They may existed in the same way as the Divine Justinia in the Fade (we saw her in the phisical world before, just after Inq left the Fade for the first time and let's not forget the real Divine was taken by monsters just before that). There are no gosts in DA universe. We are being bombed with Andraste since the very beggining of DA and the way this story is shown makes me think we may discover the real story of Andraste someday. Every single game shows us nothing is as simple as it seems at first (this what I LOOVE about Bioware). And the entire Maker's beloved story just seems to be too black and white for BW standards. If you're familiar with some theories concerning life of Mythal you may see my point.

I may be in the  minority, but I honestly loved Descent.  Design, story, pacing, etc -  it all worked great for me.  I thought the same of JoH.  I literally can't get enough of this series.

The ONLY gripe I have really isn't with the DLCs but the overall level cap.  I was hoping i could have gone beyond 27 (I'm a level-up junkie).  I hope that's addressed in any possible future DLCs (assuming the final is post-endgame), but wouldn't care if they didn't

Implications to lore are huge, but I will agree that I wish they provided more clarity around the Titans, etc - heres to hoping we get some major answers soon!

It was short yet enjoyable.  It was good to get some cut scene moments with my quizzy again.

I enjoyed it, but I still think it was too short for the same price of jaws of hakkon witch have more content and a larger map (but fewer cutscenes), I just wished they explained things more, in DA2 legacy we found cory, it's explained some things at least about the lore, in the descent we end up with more questions the answers and that's not something most of the players would enjoy I think, there are already a lot of os secrets in thedas left unexplained

Quick question: There was a door that took 5 special weapons to open. Now that I have the weapons, I cannot find the door. Where is it located?

Thanks!

Overall I really liked this DLC. I wish it was 3-4 hours longer though. Call me weird but Deep Roads levels have always been my favourite in DA games. Darkspawn are a really mysterious, evil and terrifyingly dangerous threat. So going through many of those bastards and killing them, fighting to stay alive, surviving the gauntlet of many enemies etc. really made me happy in the first 1-2 hours or so. I wish it was more about Darkspawn and less about Titans, Dwarves etc.

I enjoyed it a lot actually. The ending is a bit confusing but I loved that we got cutscenes, the new characters and some war table mechnics. On the other hand I didn't really like the "loot". I am a mage and I only got 2 staves, I recall getitng more "useful" stuff out of JoH.

I agree -  as a level 27 warrior, I wasn't impressed by the new loot (especially when i can usually craft something more powerful using vanilla inquisition)

The SB earth shaker's weapons? You just go ahead towards the camp at the fifth floor. The camp is blocked by their lyrium rocks. A group of SB dwarves attack you and they respawn. You need to use the weapons to explode the rocks, then the SB stops respawning. Kill them all and you can set up the camp and go to the sixth floor.

Thanks, but was speaking of an actual door. However, since I was playing while fatigued, it could have said 5 Gears instead; uncertain.

As for the passage you described; done and done. However, when the remaining weapons vanished from my inventory and forced me to collect more during battle; was NOT a happy camper.

:P

Now for the sixth level.

Falling is mentioned as a Con, but the fact that this can also be used against your foes makes this a bonus, not to mention giving the Player something to consider tactically.

Good, fair review; agreed.

@BioFan: The review of the DLC is fair and balanced. Personally, I would say if you are a massive lore nerd, then get the DLC. If not, wait for a discount.

As one on a fixed income, am not a fan of the rising costs to play games. However, I find more replay value in Descent than JoH simply because it is less of a priority on the lore and story. I will easily be able to use it on all my Inquisitors; will also need to make one of them a dialogue Perk addict to get every nugget.

This would have made an excellent comic or book. It is too linear for a role play story where I did nothing uniquely my own. My Inquisitor did not need to be the one to go down here and half-learn something, do nothing about it and go home. Some other fool could have helped the dwarves, who only grudgingly helped the Inquisition previously.

On the other hand, I would have loved to role-play as Alistair's companion to look for King Maric. That would have been epic with great opportunities for party banter, lore, combat and going into Tevinter. I would have paid $20 for that.

For all of you who have already finished the new DLC, should I do it before or after the main quest? (lore-wise, etc, etc)

You can technically do it right after Skyhold I think, but I don't think I'd suggest that.

You can do it before the ending, but I don't find that to be the best pacing.

I suggest it for post-ending, as it definitely (more than even JoH) feels like a 'further adventure of the Inquisitor'. For now, it is mostly alone in that, but we're getting at least 1-2 more DLC so Descent may fit in great in the middle of that (before or after JoH works, either is fine).

It is mostly disconnected from the main quest. Even JoH had the connection to being a cap off to the story of 'the Inquisitor concept', but Descent seems much more like a mix of a standalone adventure and a tease about concepts of the next game.

Is isn't like the main game final boss is exceptionally difficult, so saving Descent for post-ending may be best.

Unless you absolutely need Solas. Just keep in mind that he says very little in this DLC, and I don't think his words are especially remarkable, unlike perhaps in JoH.
