So it's exactly as I suspected?

Lots of combat with few story elements and party interaction to prop it up?

*sigh*

Guess I'll pass til I get a discount.

Still the... spoiler about the Titan seems relatively interesting, I guess.

That's the problem with Inquisition DLCs so far... I've been hoping for SOME sort of payoff for what happened at ACT III of Inquisition but instead we're receiving a bunch of interesting "lore updates" as DLC.

There is no party interaction. All dialogues are between IQ and the new NPCs.

It's a discussion, not appreciation thread.

Some really cool stuff. I'll get it sometime. Not now.

But these story, worldbuilding details were basically what I was hoping we'd get.

I apologize! I thought it was a discussion on the story, lore, and mechanics of the game.

Spoiler Heavy!

Just completed it. Apart from the 4 Gears that I can't seem to find, I got everything else!

Honestly, I would pay a lot more for what I got. That was a lovely DLC, the environments were beautiful, especially deeper down the...Deep Roads....heh.

That Twist about the Titans! I don't know how it went for everybody else, but I had the Arcane Knowledge perk. My Inquisitor started to say something along the lines of how we're wrong in our assumptions, believing the Titan's to be like us.

Then the camera does a dramatic zoom in and Inquisitor's like "Because we're INSIDE a Titan!".

Also Dwarf Mage? Dwarf Mage.

I think I only had one negative point about it, which is more my own expectation of something.

At the end after the last discussion with Shaper Valta, I was expecting her to turn around and mention something that would hint at the next/last DLC. She did say the Titan was disturbed 1000 years ago, so I'm not sure what that could be as I'm not familiar with the actual timeline for some events. At the moment, I'm thinking when the Magisters breached the Golden City.

Also just finished "A Cry In the Dark" War Table mission. I wonder if that was Valta who took Renn's remains...I hope she isn't going to bring him back as a Sha-Brytol or something. I guess anything is possible with what happened to her.

And yes, these are all genuine positive comments about the DLC. I just thought I'd put this, because I can imagine there would be at least 1 or 2 people baffled by the idea of someone who actually enjoys playing DLC and their video games!

Edit: Also now sitting at 1million Gold, hooray!

Thanks for that write up - I'll be playing it tonight! :)

Haha, love it. :)

There's honest, if critical reviews, and then there is just complaining because "Bioware wasted my money because I thought this would have all the content of a full game and it didn't and all of my favorite theories were not confirmed".  What would be the correct response to you guys then? "Yeah, you're right! *Repeats same thing > forum devolves into why Witcher 3 is the best game evar* ?

Is there a better way to respond to these individuals to keep a meaningful conversation going? I see a lot of Tumblr-esque "sighing" and assumptions from people who haven't even played it but not much else.

Sorry, you're right. Of course you are. I mean, how dare people be dissatisfied? It's not like we've waited months for this or anything.

There were things I didn't love. I thought the combat was a bit mindless. I was level 27 and felt it was a little grindy. I thought the companion banter was severely missing here. Even once or twice would have been okay, but zero? Unless it's there and just bugged.

I liked both Valta and Renn. I felt they did a good job with making Renn likeable enough for his death to be sad. Maybe not devastating or anything, but sad.

And I loved loved loved the areas. I'm not done exploring yet but the area at the bottom was beautiful.

And the lore-story was really interesting.

How does Quizzie know anything about Titans when the term has never once come up in the lore in any previous game?

"In this place we prepare to hunt the pillars of the earth. Their workers scurry, witless, soulless. This death will be a mercy. We will make the earth blossom with their passing."

For one moment there is a vivid image of two overlapping spheres; unknown flowers bloom inside their centers. Then it fades.

This codex entry is starting to make sense. Elves may have killed the "pure" children of the stone. Something Happened and now Dwarves lost connection to their Titan

The Spheres just might be talking about the 2 races and their "spheres of influence". The Dwarves residing within their Titan ... Elves on the surface/fade ... when they meet (in war?) that area where the "heart" was ended up being created?

Additionally ... that core area looks alot like the fade, just without the green haze and very foggy.

It also seems as if that particular Titan arose 1000 years ago, hmmm

Lastly, Solas (or was it Coles?) line about Dwarves "being the severed arm of a mighty warrior" just might be quite literal!

Nothing wrong at all with being dissatisfied or having negative comments or feeling that something didn't live up to your standards. I think it's more the tendency of threads to turn into an echo chamber of non constructive criticism and assumptions without even playing the game/dlc.

Areas are beautiful, I liked Valta and Renn, and overall, I was pretty pleased with what I got.

About the titan at the end... My party got killed immediately, so it was just my sword+shield Inquisitor hacking away and generating guard. It took forever but I beat it, got to the cutscene and....the game crashed. Was this to punish me for getting lucky and sending that really difficult Alpha Emissary over a cliff?

Somehow I managed not to throw the computer out the window. But it's gonna take me a bit to get the motivation to go back and try again.

That is fair. But then again, there are walkthroughs of the DLC out on youtube already, so we can make proper judgments of the DLC by now.

Very true - I believe part of the judgement should come from the experience of actually playing it. That's totally my opinion though - but yeah good point.

I was a bit amused by the boss fight, maybe it'll be more difficult on the higher difficulties.

All I did was destroy the front wriggly things, then moved to the side to the corner Lyrium Pocket (I think thats what it was), used Dorian's Haste ability, my Rift mark, it exploded, and then the boss died.

I'm guessing thats not how the Boss fight should go and its broken, and the actual thing is to move around the boss destroying each pocket and each wriggly thing. If it's not broken, and the way I did it was the right way, then that is a lol moment right there, and I'll be saving future DLC playthrough for Hard/Nightmare runs.

Then again, Assassin Rogue's Mark thing is just glorious.

You can ask Dagna about the term after completing her "The Arcanist and the Fade" war table operation.

I'd sort of figured the lurium was the blood of something already- but the Titans? What if a Titan gets the blight? Is that going to be the next game? How did all the other dwarves lose their connection to it- if that was magic Valta did?

Thoughts?

Lyrium is "blood" of something, Titans.

So it is official, all mages are bloodmage. All magic is blood magic. The only difference is what blood r they using :P

I think Titans resemble a giant vascular system and they use the rocks around them to take up whatever forms they want, think of them like Giant Rock Wraiths.

What really surprised me was that there was an area with a LARGE pool of blood in the center and somebody was using those tri ceratops as blood sacrifices. It had magic symbols all over the place + one of those Tevinter "crosses" Since this was very deep in the deep roads I can't help but wonder if it was/is a lair of a Magister?

It's clearly done by a mage and things are still fresh.

Did you fight the Arcane Horror down there? My interpretation of that bit was that some sort of Mage/Magister had managed to get down to that level and had started making sacrifices towards the Titan or was otherwise trying to tap into its power. At some point he died, got possessed and the demon possessing him continued the research.

Titans blood lyrium huh. rock wraiths could infact be corrupted guardians of titans i,f the dwarvens lost magic caused a titan was killed does that mean the other races have a similar link with there creator in they could lose there magic like the dwarves have. sandal be from here maybe he was sent too the surface on a secret mission will all dwarves die if titans are gone.
