So the Titans are kind of like bio-organic mechs or like the giant from Final Fantasy IV? I keep picturing giant rideable Golems when I think of Titans now after reading the in-game revelations.
Titans + Dwarf Archers= MAYHEM ! ![]()

I wonder if or how lyrium essentially being Titan blood has anything to do with "the blood of the Great Dragons is the blood of the world." Blood is really important in Dragon Age, I'm just now a little more curious how Great Dragons tie in. Titans and Great Dragons both seem to have some sort of blood-world connection.
From QueenLionSnake in Dragon Age Reddit:
Now, I'm probably reaching, like a lot... But I was suddenly reminded of what happened if Leliana was slain in the Temple of Sacred Ashes. She was obviously brought back to life, but how? Well, what do the Temple of Sacred Ashes and now Valta possibly have in common? Pure lyrium. Oghren mentions how the Temple has pure lyrium in it, and Valta now has the power/magic of pure Lyrium granted by the Titan. Could Valta have used this power to bring Renn back (if that is indeed how Leliana came back)?
I guess that depends on what the Urn of Sacred Ashes really is. I assume that the healing powers of the Urn is what works to bring Leliana back, but dealing with the healing properties of the Urn itself (and why it has them) is a more complicated issue.

Yeah , I was wondering about that too.
At one point I thought lyrium was the blood of a slained old god , because blood of the world blablabla...
But now I wonder ...where is that dragon blood exactly?
Maybe dragon blood was a genesis for other flesh based life form?
We know there's magic in lyrium (titan's blood) the fade is another magic source , the Blight , and just regular people's blood.
Althought dragons at least great dragons blood is really really powerful stuff , Maric Theirin (Alistair's dad ) still had great dragons blood in his veins from Calenhad.Calenhad was born in 5:10 , Maric in 8:78 , so what like 4 or 5 generations apart ?
Anyway it seems to me a looooooong time ago there were the Titans , and at least the Greats dragons. And those creatures were ruling their domain (skies , underground).
We know the Titans were shaping the earth , I assume the Great Dragons had a role too , but what?

If you recall, Solas mentions that there were floating cities in Ancient Elvhenan. As for what Great Dragons do, they are the apex predators. They can burn or freeze or shock vast swathes of land, clear it out of pests or animals they disliked, etc.

But the real question is: why is their blood "the blood of the world"?

Yeah but I assume during the time of Elvhenan , the great dragons were already dealt with.
From the temple of Mythal , I've gathered the Elven Gods were shapeshifting in dragons and terrorizing the peasents into submission when they felt like it.
I doubt they would have done this with old gods and the likes flying around ruling the skies.
What I assume happened is the elves (possibly with the help of dwarves) beat the dragons ,and some elves started to mimic the Old Gods and dragons to prove they ascended to "Godhood".
There are some stories where Fen'harel and Old Tevinter gods are both mentioned, but it's difficult to determine what degree of truth are in any of those stories.
I experienced some serious audio and graphical glitches (Xbox One) upon first entering The Descent, in fact I had to back out from my first attempt with a female Qunari mage [lvl. 17] whose main campaign game was not yet finished, and start an entirely different character (male Dwarf rogue; lvl. 23) whose Inquisition had already defeated Corypheus. Despite some audio issues manifesting up until the establishment of my first Deep Roads camp, my Descent was successfully able to begin in earnest.
I've not read this whole thread, so I won't spoil anything myself, but I can say that this DLC is more than worth the $14.99 price. The new environments presented within really kicked the Deep Roads into an entirely different level. The combat is extraordinary and Bioware reinvented horde mode in a few key encounters, tough bosses are present too, and Thedas suddenly seems to be an entirely different place to me ..... albeit in a really cool way.
My dagger wielding dwarven rogue was wearing a Legion of the Dead armor that I had special crafted using those materials that stripped class restrictions, and I'm pretty sure that he appreciated having that protection. Accompanying him on his journey underground was his lady love Cassandra, and another couple Iron Bull & Dorian. As you delve further in the DLC, the enemies do become fiercer, so be glad if you've leveled up your skills and attributes. Up until the final fight I don't recall having to revive fallen comrades over much, but that last one was kicking my ass as I tried to keep at least one companion or other in the fight with me. Fortunately I realized that this was the suckers path and upon reloading, my Inquisitor, Cassandra & Bull all dropped yet again. Dorian carried the day, and all that I can say is that his fire tree was maxed out and I made full use of fire mine, wall of fire, immolate and constant barrier; plus I kept him moving while downing a few health potions to finally win the battle!!
There are some great new weapons and armors in the dlc!!
Overall, I was very disappointed by this. Jaws of Hakkon was superior, but neither hold a candle to Return to Ostagar, Witch Hunt, Citadel. or Mark of the Assassin
That's a pretty low bar to clear with those DLC.
I was tempted to pick this up since its been a while since I've done anything with Inquisition and would love to head back to the Deep Roads but from what I'm gathering this almost seems like another combat heavy Golems of Amgarrak sort of situation with some typical vague BioWare "questions piled on top of more unanswered questions and no answers" style lore reveals at the end.
Especially given no choices or anything, and that it seems grossly overpriced at $15, sounds more like it'll just merit a youtube view of the ending, I guess.
I absolutely disagree with those opinions which may have prompted you to take a pass on The Descent.
I initially experienced serious audio and graphics glitches that frustrated the hell out of me to the point of backing out and going with another Inquisitor. A brief bout of that made its presence known and then went entirely away, so after that WTF moment, I was finally able to begin my descent. I hear plenty of gamers decrying the costs of add-ons, but frankly I blow more money on fast food that does more harm to me than buying the occasional dlc for games that I already enjoy.
In this case, granted from my own unique perspective, this content was well worth the $14.99 price. If you have previously liked seeing how Bioware expanded the horizons of Thedas .... do not miss out on The Descent!
I'm keeping my mind open, but I really think I'd rather wait til it drops to $10. I'm a Top Ramen kind of shopper, so that's my price point. :-)
Besides, I'm still a little sore that I paid $60.00 for the Deluxe Edition when it came out, and now it's on-sale for $30.00. :-P

DLC doesn't always (or even usually) drop in price.
Found 2 things for immersion, one helped, one killed it.
*drinks*
Ale keg expedition : not only does it add a keg, and drinking dwarves, to the first camp but if you go back to that room the 3 kegs against the back wall are no longer there. Immersion satisfied, I did an expedition to retrieve kegs of booze, I could see results.
Veins of lyrium in the lower levels. by lore my mage Inquisitor should be very sick or dead being that close to them. Immersion broken, as usual, it's only lore when it's not in the game amiright...
There's also a mug somewhere with an engraving mentioning Bodahn (guy that adopted Sandal after he found the boy wandering the deep roads)
Interesting. My brother compared it to Leviathan instead.
I associate it with Leviathan as well. Not to mention they both share the core aspect about solving a great mystery.
I expect the next piece of SP DLC to associate with Omega, then the last with Citadel. Well, perhaps with a bit of a darker feel to it.
Fair enough.
Though I already corrected myself in my thoughts earlier, so I think I'll change my line to: "Descent is DAI's Omega that turns out to be its Leviathan."
I still wonder about the next DLC(s). The top contenders for what they'll be (at least initally, in trailers, etc) about, especially if we listen to the rumors:
-Qunari
-Fade
-Solas
-Val Royeaux (frankly if they don't include Sandal, I'll be shocked)
So eh. Maybe we'll get a mix of things. Maybe a social DLC that isn't as light hearted as Citadel but involves something else (invasion, mega plot)? Maybe an invasion DLC that turns out to be also a huge Skyhold-building thing?
DAI has been huge, hugeee on the concept of not judging a book by its cover. A Chantry focused game became an Elven focused one. An Inquisition focused DLC also became an Elven-ish focused one (I can say this in spoiler thread right?). And now a Darkspawn focused DLC became a Lyrium focused one. I think we can expect this to be a pattern, and that any, say, Qunari invasion could turn out to be something else (this is why I tend to believe the DLC rumor), or any DLC visit to Val Royeaux we might possibly make, will probably lead into something else entirely.
EDIT: I'm not saying I consider Descent bad. Only that like JoH, it isn't enough for me, personally, with my other games to play and my hopes and expectations for Bioware DLC, to plop $15 down on.

Prediction for MP:
-Darkspawn faction (duh - the streamers at BW even hinted as such, weeks/months ago)
-Mini horde mode stages (beyond what we already get)
-We got Silent Sister class, but I wonder if there will be more added in future weeks/months
I don't really play MP anymore, but yeah, this just came to mind.

I still balk at $15 DLC. $10 and you got me, and $7.50 and you most definitely got me, but $15 somehow hits this threshold where either:
1)I walk away (seems to be the case for me with DAI so far)
2)I'm obsessed with Bioware-anything so fine, you got me (seemed to be the case for me with ME3)
Sell your content for the $11-20 range and I'm going to be much more picky. I'll note how Descent lacks ___, how JoH has too much ___, how Omega still has its cutscene Quality Bioware Product glitch with Aria, and how Citadel didn't (on its face; I have mega crazy silly stupid theories of my own) didn't seem to advance much of an actual plot, etc etc.
In the $10s, I start thinking of the DLC as a 'mini-expansion', and the content should reflect that, yet Bioware seems to fall short of that every time (even if only slightly, with Citadel DLC). In the $1s, I'm super forgiving, and in the $20s, I expect a 'full expansion' (even if not a super large one). I'm willing to spend the money, but its hard with DAI to care enough to do so. Yet. Still waiting for ultramega Fade+Qunari+Skyhold+Solas DLC. lol
Some of the background ambience in this DLC was fantastic. There was one point where I could hear what sounded like something in chains moving around which was really creepy. Really enjoyed the atmosphere stuff like that created.

I disagree with how the DLC was worth the price. This dlc is too short, barely got any lore content worth the time, barely new armor, any companion interaction. Furthermore, the ending was very confusing as to "what the hell just happened?" oh, and I ended up paying $16.15, so yeah, too much for a 4 hour dlc with nothing to be excited about.
My advice is: wait until they drop the price.

Not even 10, I think it's worth 8 dollars in my book, lol.
