How many more codexes, landmarks, regions, camps ? Any elven artifacts, shards, red lyrium, mosaics ? Among other things!

I just started it, I'm maybe 1 hour, or maybe 1 1/2 - but it's so good! There are cutscenes! Interesting new characters! Funny banter!

 

I don't understand how you can compare this to JoH - JoH is a DLC that is like the other regions in the main game, a main quest throughout the zone and some side quests, standard fare.. The Descent, so far, is completely linear (well, duh), so the story is tighter. There are scripted encounters, cutscenes, and so on. I prefer that but YMMV of course. (I also like the Darkspawn stuff and their lore, which helps I guess). I can't comment on the story yet but I really love it so far. Have to go back playing it!

Are the fights challenging?

 I'm playing on hard and for me, the difficulty is just right. So far it's comparable to the main game - a bit harder maybe. JoH was a LOT harder at that point (I'm Lvl 24 and quit JoH halfway through to start the new DLC). The encounters are more interesting, IMHO, without spoiling anything.

I'm not a very good gamer though, so YMMV.

I'm not big on dungeon crawls either -- but tend to find one dungeon crawl per game somewhat enjoyable. Fortunately DA:I was devoid of lengthy dungeon crawls so this DLC seems like it will hit a nice spot.

I enjoy a dungeons crawl with story mixed in, as long as there aren't too many. I missed it in Inquisition. One of my favorite levels was Velanmar (or however it's spelled) but it was way too short. I think, ideally, you can make the bigger ones optional though, but even then, maybe one or two required ones would probably be okay by me. As long as they aren't ridiculously long.

 

The Fade in Origins was the worst example of this in my opinion. It was essentially a dungeon crawl that you had to do, but it was soooo tedious and confusing the first time you did it.

Is there any new gear in the DLC?

Yeah the amour of the emenies dwarf from the trailer but they aren't as good as the other teir 4 armour story was good the fell of near the end

I liked the story and liked the method they used to tell it as well. 

 

I found the combat harder than JoH but that might be because I went back to a character I haven't played for 6 months. If I play with the character I'm currently doing JoH with I might find it easier.

Not that that means much, There have been claims of finishing the full game in 3 hours

Kind of off topic, but Valammar is neither the only dungeon in the vanilla game, nor the largest. Talk of paucity of dungeons in vanilla with only Valammar brought up as an exception is a bit unfair.

i been hearing 3 to 4 hours just for the main storyand and mimimal sidequesting I completed in probably 3 and a half hours

Dungeon crawl is a good thing. There weren't many in Inquissition and that's where I think a lot of complaints regarding the side content lies.

Also remember the main quest itself is basically a dungeon crawl which has filler interactions with members on the side.
