Without spoiling it much, from what I saw on youtube and other places, this DLC pretty much follows the same path as JoH. Main difference is that it's linear rather then open world.
The story is light. The start is pretty good, but the pace dies out soon and before you realize it, you are in a dungeon crawl filled with combat after combat. It does have more cutscenes then JoH though. There is only one boss battle and the ending was pretty disappointing in my opinion, answering absolutely no question that the DLC raises.
So this is Bioware listening to feedback. A fair price for a short DLC with not a lot of story.

Almost no interactions with your companions. They say about a dozen lines put together during the entire DLC.
Ugh. And here I was hoping to see more interactions.

Kind of off topic, but Valammar is neither the only dungeon in the vanilla game, nor the largest. Talk of paucity of dungeons in vanilla with only Valammar brought up as an exception is a bit unfair.
I didn't mean to imply it was the only one, but I really liked Valammar. I also enjoyed The Still Ruins. And the Arbor Wilds Level (edited for spoilers) was amazing.

Any info on who's the best companions to bring along, in terms of any dialogue at all or just general themes?

I would say Varric because he adds a bit more than others due him being a Dwarf. Played it with two different inquisitors (dwarf and elf) and six different companions. Dwarf Inquisitor and Varric make the best combination.

Dropped like a bag of bricks off the top of the Eiffel Tower.
15 bucks for this Bioware? Not a chance in hell.

I once met some guy on the Internet and he said he saw some video on YouTube.
...What exactly are you trying to say here?

The DLC is Ok , I thought Hakkon was better though.
There's like no side quests , well except finding gears (worse than shards!) and a couple of codices.
The main quest is alright , I liked the ending but ...well it's the Deep Roads , not my favorite place , and of course the companions are almost silent.
There's some new armor and weapons , althought imho the armor look pretty horrible.
The really big improvement is Yeah mini war table at camp , finally!
Also I'm wondering if the DLC caused some memory leaks, as time went by the game began to lag more and more , until I had some micro freeze when picking up loots.

I'm telling mother. Wait wut.
Good god I read this in Jeoffrey's voice.
My big question is can you switch out your party mid way through the DLC if youw ant or any time you want (within reason) or are yous tuck with one group from beginning to end?

You can switch everytime you want.
There's some camps and you can get out of the deep roads.

I want to say I am about halfway through the main storyline of the DLC ... roughly three hours in with a couple of side quests hit along the way.
I'm playing my nightmare KE and was kind of breezing along until I hit the mid point. Without too many spoilers, I will give you this fair warning ... waves. Waves of enemies. Waves of enemies everywhere. Which I guess makes sense seeing as how you are in the darkspawn infested deep roads ... I was taking out the mini bosses with relative ease and thinking "Okay, these guys aren't nearly as bad as the Hakkon archers" ... but then I finally got to my first boss level character (an upgraded oldie but goody) and he ... kicked my bum. Well, not so much kicked my bum but had a ridiculous barrier/regenerative abilities ... etc. That fight alone (beginning with the very first wave ... and there are several, you can't pause once you begin this portion of the quest) ... took me about an hour. Mostly because I was having trouble getting dat barrier down.
That has probably been my only gripe about the DLC. I understand grinding and all, but come on ... a boss should not require that much button mashing to take down.
To answer some of the questions I have seen so far:
1.) I have not seen any new abilities so far, but like I said ... if I had to guestimate ... I'm only about halfway through.
2.) It's linear, so contrary to what other people might say ... it's not "another Jaws of Hakkon." This reminds me very much of the Deep Roads portion in Origins. It's a dungeon crawl. You are going down into the earth several levels. It's all fairly linear with a few bonus areas you can open up via operations. It reminded me a lot of the Deep Roads in Origins in fact. Everything looks fantastic and basically just ... updated. Every level you go down looks slightly different from the last.
3. There is not much in the way of new gear I've seen but a couple of new tier four schematics. I've only come across weapon schematics so far.
4. You will gain access to a new vendor almost immediately and suddenly your legendary items will net you on the upside of 15,000 coin. This vendor offers high level crafting materials.
5. The two new characters are interesting and seem to have their own story you uncover along the way. Not much interaction with your own companions (they will comment once in a blue moon on things you find) but plenty of interaction with the two new characters.
6. New lore to be discovered. I'm not all the way done yet so of course I don't know where it is all going, but halfway through I've found about ten new codex entries.
And awww ... good ole Joffrey, how I miss thee. May the old gods and the new bless his poor bastard soul.

You know question two may seem a bit odd and require some explanation. I have seen people mention waves, and waves (and waves) of enemies. Are they more like DA O Origins Deep Roads waves or more like the waves of baddies at the end of that game?
You see one felt epic to me, I loved it, felt like a bad arse in so many different ways and like i was finally doing what I was meant to do. The second one felt more boring, tedious, a chore, a grind. I understand this is a very subjective question but the point is that, at least for me, some waves after waves content is good and some is bad. Trying to figure out which is which. So I can prepare myself.

It's basically all the enemies are actively moving around on any given level...and they don't stay in one place always. sometimes you get hoarded in all directions in a non stop slog fest. Not difficult...but it isn't set up for short play sessions. If you don't have time to spare for a long haul, wait till later.

To those that played it, I do wonder, does it feel like the DLC could not have run on old gen or not really ?

My take on the DLC
I really enjoyed it for the following reasons:
- Nice puzzles
- Lots of waves of enemies, this is no cakewalk. The waves show to me that you are really fighting a horde of darkspawn and another enemy which I won't spoil
- I liked the story. The ending gave me a wtf for a bit, but when thinking about it, it does fit in it's own way.
- Bossfights are tough (in a good way), not just because of the waves of little enemies accompanying them, but also the bosses themselves.
- Lots and lots of schematics, both tier 3 and 4 (some better than JoH or black emporium). More options for crafting is always good
- Doing and finishing this dlc will solve any money problems you might've had. The drops are worth a lot and lots of gold drops as well.
- Another resource vendor (opened at the start) which (combined with the lots of gold) makes crafting easier. Less farming needed (well, except for fade touched stuff haha)
- I almost forgot. Bioware has managed to give me vertigo feeling several times. Nicely done!
What I did not like:
- The darkspawn archers are ok, but the new enemy archers are DAFUQ! JoH archers pale in comparison, bigtime.

It's in the deep roads; aka A DUNGEON.
I've said it once, and I'm going to repeat it here.
Legacy was also 'a Deep Roads aka the DUNGEON'. But Legacy had
- tons of companion banter, comparable with a whole game chapter in quantity and equal (if not surpassing) in quality
- 2 companion-related unique mini-plots (Anders, Varric) + the only option to get some time with a sibling - which makes 3 companions involved
- romance-sensitive banter\dialogues
- Malcolm Hawke's story, detailed yet vague enough to 'respect' the player's family headcanons (if any)
I hate Legacy for the dungeon crawling (along with The Boss) as much as I like it for the character-related content.
Descent does not seem to cover anything of those mentioned above.
