The question is this:Lets say you command a small group of young soldiers.

You are their commander. You must send those soldiers to certain death.

Their sacrifice is just a distraction for the attack of main force.

They have no chance of survival.

Question:will you give the order?

Sure.

Then you assassinate your nephew so you can inherit Bavaria and deal with the Pope's idiotic Crusade for Denmark...

The few die so the many can kill, right?

It is up to you to decide if it is worth the cost. Only you can answer that.

With that little context, that's hardly sufficient information to judge.

Will the main attack fail if the distraction isn't happening? How are the chances to succeed with the former even if the latter works out? How necessary is it to take the target in the first place and how likely is it that if an attack were postponed, reinforcement could tip the balance enough in your favour that an attack would result in less casualties? Can you even influence the aforementioned parameters or is the main attack taking place regardless of your decision?

War is more complex than just life=good, death=bad.

Can't I just yell at the enemy waive a flag, call them names and then run away?

They have no chance of survival.

Not if a work-around is achieved.

I am an adult and I have been in the army.

My name is Garrus.

I served under Commander Shepard.

He didn't do anything like this.

He just made dumb speeches.

Pay was good tho.

Agreed.

The good of the many Banjo-Kazooie games outweighs the good of the few Banjo-Kazooie games.

So they should make more good Banjo-Kazooie games.

And you have?

If so: CO, NCO? And if yes to that, why did you sleep when that issue was adressed during training so you'd have to ask us?

If you want a plain, military minded answer: follow your damn orders. If you can't deal with the consequences, happy PTSD, shouldn't have joined the military!

There you go. Satisfied?

Well, I'd question why the hell your OPLAN is relying on one assaulting element that is 'small' to serve as a distraction.

I have several different ways that I'd be able to sidestep that issue entirely. It's a bit arbitrary in fact.

Rule number one of American warfare: Hit the bad guys with impunity. If you can't, find someone who can.

The benefit of being an officer in the United States military, I guess: I don't need to worry about questions like this.
