except they would have made more money on 5 platforms instead of 3

Um... they first have to spend more money on developing the port and certification, among other costs. I hear that ports for PS3 are especially hard to do. So it's highly possible the playerbase is not big enough to be worth it - including the cost of working with limitations of last gen. Even in this new DLC you can see firsthand the difference in designing between next-gen and cross-gen, especially during combat.

Dear Bioware,
Are you truly asking for $450 more of my hard earned and saved money just to play a $15 expansion?

Shame, on, you.

Yes they do and they don't care! Bioware drinks its beer icecold, as the Icemine they are: Stone cold businessmen.

And i agree, they should be ashamed if they started for 360 but stop continueing now.

I feel annoyed that they've decided to go this route - and to be honest I've been expecting it since their "Microsoft exclusive" JoH was released first on Xbox One only and the 360 players had to wait along with everyone else.

I will eventually upgrade machines (at my own pace) - but IF I get DA:I again (and that's a massive IF) - then I'll be waiting for an inevitable GotY version and will be buying it 2nd hand - no more pre-orders or new purchases for me, I've learned my lesson.

Yep sadly Bioware decided to abandon lot of players. I just hope upcoming DLC's don't have anything important story and lore-wise.

Your wishes have been fulfilled! More or less...

How could you be more foolish? Selling ports and then after getting your 60$ full price, coming out and saying that the full version and all content will not become available for it? Absolutely infuriating, and despicable. A slap in the face over everyone who poured time and money into their version already and were looking forward to continuing on to the next installment. Exactly the kind of company behavior that elicits "wait for the GOTY edition to be 5$ on steam" behavior in their customers, or loses them all together. Hope you are taking a good look at your fanbase reaction.

Technically, there is a cross-buy program for Jaws of Hakkon, so you wouldn't have to "re-buy" that piece of DLC.

http://www.dragonage...oss-buy-program

I would note that you were going to HAVE to upgrade at some point if you wanted to continue with the series. I can guarantee you that DA4 will not be released on XBox 360.

Also, you don't HAVE to buy the new content. Fans have this weird expectation that they HAVE to get every bit of DLC that comes out, like some weird obsessive-compulsive that needs to flick a light switch 25 times or their mother dies. Just Youtube it, or save your shekels for the day you're going to upgrade.

If Bioware had been smart, they would have declared DAI a next-gen exclusive. As it is, you got the base game and you got Jaws of Hakkon. I don't consider you particularly hard done by.

Really? So I won't be able to play Dragon Age 37 on my ps3? Darn.

Everyone knows that. Dropping support mid cycle is bad business. They should never have released this game on the old machines. Bioware's fault. They need to take responsibility for their decisions about their product.

I Pre-Ordered Dragon Age Inquisition for my Xbox 360, I knew I wasn't gonna get the graphical experience of a life time like I would have most probably gotten on PC or Xbox One.

When I Pre-Ordered the game I felt kinda silly, its never smart to pre-order but I thought that I have enough faith and trust into this series that I know this game was gonna be amazing.

So far I haven't been proven wrong, hell this may be one of the best games I have played in years.. Besides some graphic errors, sound file errors and other broken things but the story, characters and game play have been great.

When I heard that the Spoils of the Qunari was gonna be next gen only I thought "No Big" its just a stupid cosmetic DLC like all the class packs in Dragon Age 2, though that didn't stop me buying them and the Spoils of the Avvar. :)

Though when I heard the announcement that all future DLC was gonna be next gen only... I felt hurt and betrayed, I felt like Bioware and I had just had a passionate night of romance and then they left without even a goodbye, to be never seen again.

"Why have they made this choice?" I wondered, "Is this some scheme to make people buy next gen consoles?" I thought... My mind was in the midst of a blazing assault with my sanity.. I just couldn't understand how we had gotten here.

Hopefully they will see the error in their ways.. Hopefully they will fix this mistake.. Hopefully they will make amends.. Its funny, I am not a man of faith but I still cling onto this blind hope that Bioware will undo this wrong..

They have too.. I can't afford a gaming PC or a next gen console and I know I'm not the only one.

Not if they're attempting to sell the game again to those who played on last gen, which they are. They already bought the game for 60 bucks and 15 for Jaws of Harrkon. Now because there is no last gen support many will buy the game and Jaws of Harrkon again, resulting in more profit.

Actually, there's a cross-buy program for JoH.

EA's fault actually since publishers are in-charge of that

You're saying there is no way Bioware had any decision in this? If this came down to a design choice or technical decision, you're saying that Bioware would have no say so or they should have zero accountability because they have absolutely no hand in this?

Source, please? I wasn't aware anything was released that stated if this was a publishing issue that would absolve Bioware or if it was part of the technical side of design that was made by Bioware and supported by EA.

Because they only make the games publishers are in-charge of what platforms these games come out on, now that isn't to say that Bioware didn't have a say in this decision

And I heard Mark Darrah supposedly didn't want the game released for last gen

This is actually the main reason I bought it (got it in the recent PSN sale), instead of waiting until I get a PS4 (which will probably be long after DA:I is completely done and dusted). If I'd have had to buy it twice I wouldn't have bothered. Spoils of the Avvar is also cross-buy (Spoils of the Qunari is, like Descent, PS4-only). I have no intention of getting either of the item packs, though.

I'd say I'd hold out for the GotY edition, but ME2, DA2 and ME3 didn't get GotY editions. In fact no game has since DA:O, so I doubt we'll get one here either.

I apologise, Ares. I misread your statement and thought you were talking about the decision to stop supporting dlc and patches, not initial distribution.

However, I wouldn't be so eager to lay the entire blame at EA's feet for either. It's a terrible move and it's bodes ill for the fans who love and support Bioware and are now restricted without warning. It could be entirely the doings of EA, but then again, good people make bad decisions every single day and someone made this decision. We don't know who, but we certainly know who is paying for it.

I'm honestly surprised that this thread is only two pages long.
I'm really disappointed with Bioware right now. Blowing off a portion of your fan base just seems like poor taste to me. I'm considering skipping most of the rest of the Inquisition DLC when my Xbox One finally comes in because of this.

I'd be surprised if they were the only ones doing it. Take Diablo 3 for instance. They did the same move, because there's new stuff coming to new gen systems, that the old gen just can't support. They would have to make 2 versions, a "dumbed" down one for the old gen systems, for a lack of a better term, and a newer one for the new systems. Should newer systems be denied cool new things for the sake of old systems? But it would be in better faith to offer a cross exchange program. Where you can use your bioware account to move the game from an old gen console to a ps4/pc/xbone.

I just played The Descent and there are parts of the Deep Roads FILLED with enemies. I honestly don't think last gen system would've been able to handle it, and toning it down would've made the experience on the 360 significantly worse.

My advice is to sell your 360 or PS3- mine sold on ebay for $250, and that's well over halfway to an Xbox One. If you're worried about not being able to play your favorite games anymore, the Xbox One will have backwards compatibility for fan favorites by this Winter.

I do think that Bioware should offer next gen games to last gen customers for a reduced price or even free.

Because clearly the only reason you don't buy a PS4 or an Xbone is because you can't afford it.  -_-

I'm actually not so bothered by the change.  I had originally intended to buy the game for PC, but canceled the preorder and changed to 360 when the required specs were released.  My desktop wouldn't have been able to handle it.  I didn't mind too much about a downgrade in graphics (which honestly, I found it still looked fantastic, regardless) I just wanted to play the game.

That being said - if they feel that they can't continue to support the previous gen consoles, that's sucky... but them allowing us to transfer characters and making it so we don't have to buy the dlcs over again tells me they at least want to smooth things over as much as they can.

My only gripe is I really don't want to have to buy an Xbox One to continue to play my level 27 character who I've completed just about 100% of the game with (and have clocked in over 400 hours with)   If I must switch systems, I would much rather upgrade my computer and go PC.

I'd definitely go with PC vs Xbox One... You can do sooo much more.

Sadly, at the moment that doesn't seem to be an option for previous gen players... not if they want to keep playing their characters, that is  :\

There's a save transfer if that's what you mean

I didn't notice this thread before but now that I have I can say that it would be very doubtful that I will be patronizing Bioware anytime in the foreseeable future. I would rather have Bioware make Inquisition for next gen consoles only than to have made it for 360 but then after only one story-based DLC stop supporting the 360 for later DLC. Sure it would have sucked to have had to wait until I could afford an XBox One in order to play Inquisition but better to have never played Inquisition than to play most of Inquisition then find you can't play any further without shelling out 400 dollars for a new console AND another 60 plus dollars for yet another copy of Inquisition. As far as I'm concerned right now..they can take that save transfer thing and take a flying leap into the Abyssal Rift. So I hope Bioware enjoyed the money I've already given them because it's likely to be the last they'll ever receive..doubt even an AWESOME Mass Effect Andromeda could bring me back as a customer.

My X1 will arrive on October the 20th (I know, spit on me, I'm an Halo fan as much as a DA/ME fan), is not cheap but I managed to bring the credit card balance down so now I can bring it up again ;).  I have a long list of games that I want to play since the console came out and I will blissfully go through it checking the better/cheaper options, though FO4 is a guaranteed pre-order. What I won't do though, like many others here, is buy an extra copy of DA:I or even MEA, and that's really an indicator of how disgusted I am by this debacle. Their conception of customer service and client support has become so askew that I cannot in all faith support them anymore.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of the game but that's it, no more cash from me, and I spent quite a lot of money from the first ME to date on this company products...

Also, to anyone that is going on and on about the size of the Descent: firstly it was developed by the Austin studio, you know the one that does the Star Wars MMO games. Secondly, as I noticed watching a twitch stream, it has so many re-used assets from DA2, and possibly ME1 (LOL the lift), that I cannot see how it is possible that it could not be ported to last gen. They have more enemies on screen, sure, put less of them like you did with the game and we'll be perfectly OK with it. But if that is the problem, I wonder how's possible that other companies managed to put out FPS/TPS/ARPG on the market (Borderlands anyone?) at all on the X360/PS3...
