I rang customer support this afternoon, to see if the price was a mistake like last time, or if they were indeed seeing what the market would bear, and it would appear that the price is not a mistake, and they are in fact intent on gouging us because they can.

I will therefore be taking the advice of that champion of getting around regional pricing, the ACCC, on the matter.

ACCC don't give no s**** but I seriously feel sorry for the devs :( less people will enjoy their product because of the price gouging. But it's a foolish time to try it especially when there is an easy way to compare DLC prices on that store page. I'd try it on ME:A just so I could trick people easier.

Well this is disappointing, as I am a big fan of Dwarves and Dwarven lore in the Dragon Age universe. I guess I'll wait for the dlc to go on sale or something. I don't blame the devs as they probably have nothing to do with how such content is actually priced.

I would suggest Australians don't purchase it in protest. Its not like the DLC is essential. There is no reason for a digital download to be priced any differently to the US version its just sheer price gouging.

Um... GST. But it shouldn't nearly be as high as it is though.

Isn't it weird that this is more expensive than the PS4 version? Almost all PC games are cheaper than console ones, except DAI...

Is it even worth it?

I didn't really enjoy JoH because it was so slow. As with the main game. Yes, there is story there, and its interesting, but its gated behind not only Power, but also slowly shuffling around in large spaces. JoH avoided the Power requirements by instead making you shuffle back and forth in vertical space.

Honestly, despite my love of DA and my previous purchase of ALL DLCs (yes, including armour/wep packs)...

I need to know Descent is good to even want to play it - let alone pay so much for it. Otherwise I'll just read a synopsis online, or watch a play-through at high speed, to save myself all the trundling and chipping away and massive health bars. I can have games on my Steam wishlist cheaper than this.

Honestly, being in a situation of 'ehh' about experiencing new DA content at all, regardless of price, surprises me. But I'd need convincing that the experience is worth it. Not just the story itself - but the actual combat, the characters, the atmosphere. Because if I DO eventually get back into DAI, doing so without mods will be even less appealing, and I doubt Descent is something that plays nice with the Mod Manager (at least not without a lot of kerfuffle).

If you didn't enjoy JoK then it may well not be worth it for you.

I enjoyed Jok and am very interested in the idea of descent, so obviously would really like it if they put it for sale at a reasonable price instead of notably above it.

I think so, It reminded me of Origins a lot, love the linear path and the story so I say it's worth it. Although it is kinda slow since the fights are really challenging, if you played on Casual it would go by a lot faster.

bumping this because we're about to get another DLC. During the last few weeks of business travel I noticed that the origin store always displays the price of the country you're in no matter what your account setting is.

Like in my account home country is AU but when I was in the USA it was in USD and ?Franc? when I was in Switzerland (also Euro for France I'm pretty sure). I switched my account to USA to see if it made a difference but it didn't

Comparatively Steam kept me on USD everywhere I loaded (there's no AUD for steam).

I didn't do any buying but I'm mildly curious how Origin even tells the difference between a VPN connection and you sitting in another country without some network traffic analysis. Granted off course with our tanking dollar I think the 15 USD conversion is sitting closer to 22 / 23 AUD as opposed to the 20 we're hoping for.

Expect it - that way you'll be pleasently surprised if you are wrong and will have had time to deal with your disappointment if you are right.

I am quite frustrated with the situation. Trespasser looks like it could be awesome (I don't like that the "conclusion" to the story is behind a pay wall) but I just don't know if I can bring myself to pay for it after all the pricing issues. I raised the issue with The Descent to EA and they just told me that the complaint was escalated and I haven't heard back in over a fortnight. I also noticed that the Xbox one, PS4 and P.C prices are all different. The P.C and Xbox one only four cents apart but the PS4 price is about $1.50 cheaper, which doesn't make since because those prices are all for the Australian store of each platform. I just wish Bioware had never sold out to EA.

It costs money to make these dlc's. How else could they afford to make them without charging?

Oblivion proved people will pay for horse armour. While the witcher 3 free dlc is nice, they aren't releasing the expansion for free.

I was reading posts from 2009 where people were speculating that without EA buying Bioware, DA:O wouldn't be a sucess because they didn't have the advertising budget that EA could provide.

What does this have to do with the threads topic, that Australians (and for some reason pc gamers even more so) are paying more for no given reason?

The only reason it's more for us is because our country has a video game tax, plus GST and probably 2-3 more taxes on top of Bioware's selling price. It's not Biowares fault sadly, just the country we live in Government's.

If this is the case then why don't they just say so? You'd think they'd be happy to pass the buck.

I was responding to the person talking about not getting the dlc for free.
