Myself, a friend and 1 random were busy grinding Perilous for XP

When they got to L 14 on their characters I suggested that as I had a L 19 Legionnaire, that we run the first area in Nightmare and wipe for the XP.

It went so well that we stayed in and breezed through every round against demons.  Mid-way through, another dude joined and we alll got the job done.

I did my bit by tanking up and constantly knocking all of the Demons down.

I think my buddy General has like 80 Constitution, he tells me he's aiming for 100...

- I guess that Nightmare is the only place to really farm gold too... Has around 30-40% more than Perilous.

If you can do it as fast as in perilous, ya

Really shouldn't walk out into the courtyard, ever, but that wasn't your fault

Can I suggest switching Walking Fortress for To the Death?

Lots more dmg and will offer many bars of guard

Well I understand that it is awesome, I can't find it in me to use To The Death during Nightmare runs.  I don't yet possess the correct Constitution to make it a viable option.

I am very comfortable with this setup as whilst Walking Fortress is active it's impossible to be knocked down, one Unbowed usage will normally top-up the guard.  Then taking damage adds guard AND resets Unbowed....

The big trouble with To The Death is that it can't help you whilst you revive and it also can screw you big time, especially if you've taunted one of those tall twiggy things.  If they disappear in to the ground and you need guard, you're pretty much done for.

I ran with all purples, Bitter Axe, Ring of Armor Penetration, Amulet of Strength, Belt of Health, Ring of Heal.

My armour has 16 Constitution, 18% Heal Bonus and 6% Melee defense.

Well I figured with Unbowed and Payback Strike you have enough knockdown removal, and To the Death lasts a long time

Walking Fortress is also very short and hard to get back without cunning

But you could be right about your constitution

re: WF cooldown, very true my friend, for now around 9/10 I make ends meet using Unbowed and occasionally using Shield Wall to top-up guard levels.  Works nice once you've learnt the attack pattern of all of the different melee creatures.

Your cooldowns are actually quicker if you're getting hit more whilst walking fortress is up, with counterstrike up (pulling as many enemies on you as possible because of it's huge AOE) you can still spam walking fortress with some upgrades invested in crit chance. :)

^ All my buddy does in matches is Taunt followed by Counter Strike, screws over all the other players in a PUG as they have no answer sometimes to every enemy on the map descending to a single spot....  I try telling him, but he insists on referring to himself as an "offensive" Legionnaire.

If your friend did it properly none of the agro would be on your team mates, it would all be focused on him.

WF upgrade reduces all cooldowns including it's own. I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt after you actually started listening to people and corrected the mistakes in your builds, but telling people to skip WF on the Lego? Into the trash it goes.

Yeah but you know how a few enemies ignore the taunt... Plus getting hit by 4+ archers at once is scary and forboding to a total noob....

Yeah that can be annoying sometimes, just nee to try get as many hits out to bring back CC as fast as possible :P You definitely need to build up the confidence to do it effectively, you're right it can be intimidating. I couldn't believe how much the armour and guard passives did to bring down damage after the patch, even on NM they're insane!

Counterstrike, Walking Fortress +, To the Death +, War Cry + and Flow of Battle/1 Guard passive is all you need to be a proper tank, imo. Even my cousin without any proper equipment could do FC Nightmare with this setup. Not died once. Unbowed is unquestionable a waste of 2 skill points on Legionnaire! He has so many great active abilities to generate guard.

To me the only motive to take Unbowed is to get back in your feet. To generate guard i think War Cry+ is better. 200% armor bonus =X

In Nightmare I use Payback to recover from knock down. With an upgrade that gives you critcal chance, yuo can use this  skill more often.

First time(and only time xD) I cleaned Heartbreak I used Unbowed+Payback, cause those frickers knock you down all the time.

Little tip: Use WF+ to reduce all your cooldowns. Better use after Counterstrike. Once i keep spamming WF and CS when i had 5 Despair, 7 Rage and 2 Pride demons over me in a Nightmare... That was insane.

Turn the Bolt gives 50% ranged defense, your shield gives 30% front defense, then there's the 20% front defense passive. A lot of damage mitigation starts with positioning. Add to that the two guard passives and if you still get rekt by arrows, you can use War Cry which even applies it's 200% armor bonus when you don't hit enemies with it (which doesn't even trigger a CD).

^ Oh yeah I hear you, the thing is that whilst Pugging, you never quite know who is using which setup.  Sometimes people may not optimise their point spends..   It was basically just commenting on how a friend of mine has a build with shield bash, counterstrike, war cry, walking fortress.  He's on a Constitution grind, so he likes to be amongst all the kills and taunts everything possible.  All is well until you hit the boss phase, where he often will cause a down to a randomer who isn't specced/using an apt class to deal with sudden swarm of all the enemies.

Lol he even was moaning as I began Dragon Raging through hordes, saying I was costing his cooldowns... :)

I won the argument with the speed of completion Vs his personal glory point.

Tip: While you are using auto attacks, tap shield wall once after your first attack. Some times you can block some attacks if you are lucky, and it's definitely easier than having to press the sprint button that makes my thumb rubbery after a match or two.

I love walking Fortress, and I love Counterstrike. I also love shield wall. A lot of people think they should take at least some kind of offensive skill, but I feel since I will never get my damage up to any where near that of dps characters like duelist or reaver, I might as well go the whole way and be a full support. So I take either to the death or war cry to replace shield bash or payback strike, just in case counterstrike is not enough for me xD

I don't think I ever will get use to it... My poor thumb :(

Guess what, I pick up block and slash on my katari just so I can spare my thumb from the agony in pressing the sprint button. Pressing down on the joystick hurts.... For real.

That you were equipping gear to the Bow of Cruel Redemption instead of the Heartstring Bow which basically replaces the former in every way? ;)

(Hey maybe you wanted that extra 4% damage to barriers.)

For real though, why the heck are Venatori Mages included in the Demons faction? Most annoying mobs in the entire setup.

We had a similar completion to the one SpaceV3gan detailed yesterday. About 20ish minutes for 100Kish XP. Our Lego went from level 12 to 18.
