Uh, I've done TGI waves 6 times.
If it helps, I usually use a Phaeston and I pretty much suck with him. Though I've recently tried Saber and
!
I have to say, I've always been intimidated to try the themed challenges in Prestacious' thread, so I wonder if newbies would feel the same if they thought doing themes is mandatory to participate? I thought about what would entice me to try MP if I were a newbie and I came up with:
1) Fun/Intro -- do whatever in a supportive, safe environment
2) New experiences/tourism -- get locked in the reactor, see collectors, find the easter eggs on Vancouver, play as a nonhuman, etc.
3) Upping my game/weapon workshop -- get advice from experienced players on how to play certain weapons/kits, get to play with BSNers, try a higher level of difficulty
4) Themes/challenges -- get that sense of accomplishment
5) Geek out -- discuss lore with other fans
So that led me to think about how matchmaking would work, because not everyone will want to host every type of game. (For example, I'm happy to do 1,2, 4 and 5 but I can't carry on Plat and probably shouldn't be telling people how to spec characters.
) Should we each post a little about ourselves so newbies can find a good fit? The template from Marksmad's nonsticky thread works well plus some more personal bits to pique the SP crowd's interest. For Example:

About me: I'm an older female gamer who was originally opposed to MP and too intimidated to try it. I was afraid I'd be a liability and my teammates would be hostile. Instead I found a great community of supportive players that helped me get better at this game than I dreamed possible. Now it's my turn to give back. Join me especially if you're hesitant to try MP. I promise a relaxed atmosphere; my lobby is a no judgement zone.
Claim to Fame/Infamy: I once spent several seconds trying vainly to revive my teammate's decoy.
What do you think?
