The Air Force.

And would you trust these lard asses with your life? Do they inspire confidence in you?

Also I've never seen a fat Danish pilot, ever. What country are you from?

If they are a skilled leader or strategist/tactician, absolutely.

I doubt they're any worse at their jobs because they fall out of whatever qualifies as an Adonis on the BMI spectrum.

Yeah, I'm a civilian, admittedly, but i find how many push ups a person can do is incidental to their skills at tactics, strategy, and logistics.

I skipped a lot of pages (almost all of them) so I don't know if it's still relevant or already been mentioned before:

This is somewhat of a general response to the nay-sayers with realism and the current state of affairs as their argument:

Sure equal opportunity does not mean equal results, however one thing I have seen happening when looking at society from the past few decades is that men and women are slowly growing more equal in where their interests are and that with the rise of technology certain jobs become easily accessible.

So I find this a reasonable request; I have a feeling that over time and as technology advances, the two genders develop more similarily as specialization between the two sexes to improve the efficiency of specific tasks becomes much less of an issue. 200something years is not a lot of time, I admit, but again; I believe there were exoskeletons available as upgrades for your armor in ME1. Who knows how good those function, maybe the difference in female and male physiology is negligible?

So the only issue remains "do women want to join the military?" which is, in my opinion, not something anyone can have a clear, completely accurate answer for, as I feel choices are also partially based on available opportunities, ease of access of certain goals and other environmental factors.

That page is completely empty. xD

Are you deliberately trying to prove my point or...?

Completely empty?  When I clicked on the link it has female names that you can click on to give that person's background

In regards to the writing; everything is a decision, whether it be someone's name, gender, race, even their height if it's relevant. Someone, somewhere, decides these things. Creating supporting characters is mundane enough, any input would be welcome I assure you. OP is fine to suggest a more balanced representation in positions of power. And given Bioware's mandate, they're probably already mindful of it. This industry doesn't have a fantastic track record.

If your kneejerk response is to reference the real world, at least be mindful of the status quo. I don't care to explain the social and cultural reasons behind western militaries being predominantly male. However, it's worth noting that many position in many countries have been completely off limits to women—women have served in the past, in these roles, for various reasons, by passing as men. Spoilers: no one knew.

Here in Australia, women have trained in the SAS and passed. I believe it was initially academic, but the positions are now open, unless I've been misinformed. The news can be unreliable.

Thing is, the voices saying what women can do—what women are good for, how they're built, when they should have babies, etc.—are male. Almost exclusively male, across all cultures. This is a reproducible occurrence. That should be, to anyone interesting in equality, very alarming and informative.

Something that isn't at all predictable or reproducible is the physical and psychological prowess of a given female. Because, surprise, women are human beings. Human beings are varied and nuanced, gender notwithstanding.

I live on the same planet as Ronda Rousey. I'm not about to start telling women what they are and are not capable of; I'm not that foolish.

Ronda is an exception, not a rule. Plus she's fighting opponents that picked MMA to lose weight or something. Of course she's going to smash them.

A skilled leader would've mastered himself before trying to master others, and thus not have gotten fat.

Rowdy Rousey is a sign of changing times. Well before we reach the time period the Mass effect games take place in, we're going to be seeing a lot more of her like.

You know, as someone who knows exactly how strong John Cena is, I do not doubt that Rousey could beat him in an actual fight.

Lesnar could probably take her, though.

The U.S.

And the majority of people in the USAF are not pilots, and, yes, I have trusted them with my life.

Really, talking about female athleticism, there are quite a few female wrestlers active today that prove that women are capable of acts of extreme physicality. I have no doubt that the likes of Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Beyley could physically dominate the majority of the male population.

All of these women are exceptions. All of them functioned in support roles and most of them got their rank for political or financial reasons.

And that's all fine. I'm not trying to downplay the achievements of these women. They all have set examples and I'm sure all of them are honorable women and an inspiration to many other women.

That said, that still doesn't change the fact that women like these are rare and women like these will probably always be rare, not because of sexism, not because of "patriarchy", but because men and women are different, with different interests and different life-choices.

Perhaps, but if she inspires current up-and-coming fighters and the next generation, that will change.  Someone's gotta go first and pave the way.

But they would not dominate the majority of the male wrestlers. In fact, they'll probably lose to almost all male wrestlers.

Men are and always will be significantly more capable of acts of extreme physicality than women.

I might agree that there will likely always be an imbalance, but I don't think it will always be as extreme as you make it out to be. I think as sexism and patriarchy continue to fall by the wayside, and as more women continue to provide inspiration, I think we're going to see more and more evening out.
