I don't really agree with the idea of doing it for the sake of doing it.
It's the military. It's a predominantly male field. It always has been, and it likely always will be. The reason? Not nearly as many women join the military as much as men do. Hence, you're more likely to get high ranking men than you are women.
It seems like false egalitarianism and inclusiveness to put so many women at so many levels. It's arbitrary.
Another SJW thread. It really sucks to be a writer in a corporate environment these days. You aren't free to write what you feel the way you feel but have carefully to appease every demand that is thrown at you. Freaking politics is everywhere now...even in games and entertainment industry.

Dunno what happened as I haven't been keeping track of this thread since yesterday, but from what I've observed, I see:
- a new user with merely 16 posts in total.
- posts 5 consecutive posts one after another in this thread.
- all of them are angry posts with baseless insults.

I'm a girl looking to join the Air Force, but even though I personally have a military desire, I do not find it necessary to include higher ranking women in Mass Effect. Okay, sure. Throw one in there. But it is honestly completely unrealistic for there to be that many.
This sort of reminds me of that (kind of annoying) thread about including trans people. They aren't included because they are the minority. The same kind of applies here. However, in a much more acceptable argument.

I was responding to how some people saying that having female soldiers would require them lowering the standards of being a soldier, thus weakening the army as a whole. Due to genetic enhancements, recruits regardless of sex or gender would be able to surpass the standards set by the military without them having to lower said standards.

I see now. I get what you're saying about enhanced soldiers in the ME universe, but do people not realize there are enlisted women in real life?

Not sure who you're talking about, but I've never said that.
Besides, the whole debate about physical parity between men and women is only 1 side of the coin. There is the other side that has yet to receive a solid counter-argument. The other side being the fact that men and women have different interests and different preferences.
Even if augmentations would completely remove the physical differences between men and women, you'd still be dealing with the fact that significantly less women want to enlist than men.
