Am I the only one who liked the elevators? I felt that hopping in an elevator and getting one place to another was more immersive, but can you please make them shorter if you do implement them again?

Maybe elevators that take even longer. Or elevators that need you to push a button to open the door to exit them so that the player thinks they are waiting for the elevator to reach its destination even though it already has. Or elevators where bad guys leap at you through the hatch. Or elevators full of snakes.

But seriously, I agree they are a reasonably good way of making transitions.

Well, they were made to replace loading screens, right?

We still had loading screens after they removed them, so why not?

At least we had something to listen to.

I do prefer the elevators, and it's banter and news announcements, over the loading screen showing an elevator go up or down in the Normandy.

Confession time: I liked the Mass Effect Elevators. And the leaving/entering the Normandy sequences.

Yeah, I have to admit I liked them too. However, the elevators should stop randomly for people to get on and off when in a building. Nothing like having to  go to the 40th floor and have someone waiting to off you and there's a family on the elevator with you that got on at the 22nd floor. Quick make a decision. Hit the button for 38 and tell them to get off.

Yes, I also liked the elevators more than the loading screens. I liked more the concept of ME1 in which if you went somewhere, you had to come all the way back to the ship, there was no mission complete screen that teleported me back to the ship. ME1 was more life like (perhaps, because it was more RPG) than the other two.

I wouldn't mind having the elevators return if I can hear this

The elevators were terrible and there are better ways to deliver content like party banter and news reports than forcing you to watch your party stand in a tube for 20 seconds.

Only if cheesy music plays while I am on them. I can just picture it now... I am chasing after some people. Me and my squad carrying our weapons rush after them. They catch an elevator, then we catch one. We are all awkwardly standing in the elevator keeping a serious face, while funny shopping music plays.

You have the option to shoot the speakers, one of your squadmates (bonus points if it's a krogan) goes, "Hey... I liked that song."

There could be something different used for changing places and pace. Elevators might be a bit standstill-ish. But still I like them

I really disliked the elevators, because they're were dull and visually uninteresting. They were also like the ME2 videos - the amount of time it took to load was consistent because an animation played out, even if you have a very fast PC.

I much prefer loading screens ala DA2 - interesting artwork. I'd say TW3 also qualifies were it not for that constant obnoxious and unskippable voiceover.

The elevators were a bandaid for ME1's obvious technical deficiencies regarding how the game handled loading times and large areas. They were widely derided in 2007 so seeing it being romanticized now is a little strange.

They were terrible. The last thing people want while running around a hub looking for characters and turning in quests is having to sit through the same canned sequence for the millionth time. Since we have much better engine and hardware this time let's leave them in the past.

I actually didn't mind the elevators, myself. In fact I made a conscious decision to take them instead of the taxi whenever I was at the Citadel. Yes, they existed to hide the loading screens, but honestly I just really appreciated the banter between squadmates. You learnt a lot about the characters from such small snippets and they even developed during the conversations, like Garrus starting off as pretty racist towards Tali and Wrex but coming to see the error of his ideas and apologising for them.

I can see why some people wouldn't like them, but I loved them for the extra look into the characters they gave us. I don't necessarily want the actual elevators to return, unless they have to cover loading screens--then it's certainly a viable options--but I would love to see more casual conversations between squadmates like that! Even more so if our character can join in.

There's nothing wrong with an elevator as a way to move around a building. As a way to move around a gigantic city in space, they're obviously inadequate.

Maybe make the elevators offer an awesome vista to look at while you wait? Instead of some moving wall which gave no perspective as to how far you were supposed to be travelling.

But what would an elevator be without muzak? Not a proper one - that's for sure.

I ADORED the elevators and would love to see them brought back!   They provided banter opportunities, were a much more immersive way of playing than loading screens, and with the upgrades available in graphics now, they could show 'scenes' that might not have been worth devoting an actual area to, but help develop the setting the same way the Bioware artbooks do!

If I could upvote this by +1000 I would!

Depends on how fast those elevators are. If they're going to be as slow as the SR1 elevator... Pre-order cancelled!

ME1 elevators are, and should remain, history.

Technology has moved on, now it's time for seamless open areas.
