We seem to catch everything on video these days and things are released within hours.

Well, there is a big ass explosion in a city with 15 million residents, so of course there will be tons of videos within hours on the internet. But ****, already 7 deads so early, I wish the families and other people related to the victims much luck.

Wow.

That one somehow snuck past me today when I was doing my normal news browsing. Let's hope there weren't too many victims and whatever caused the explosion (my bet is on neglected security/storage safety, wouldn't be the first one to blow up like that) is quickly and sensibly adressed/rectified.

Lolno. China is far from overpopulated. The problem is the chinese urbanization is centered on few cities that explode in terms of population. China itself has plenty enough land to comfortably fit the entire human population a couple times over.

Disregard, I had a comma error :P

They would still fit a couple times over mind you, but not exactly comfortably.

Perhaps that is true, more like I was shocked by them to the point that I lost my normal level of comportment.

True, though with that many people, they could take over all of Europe if everyone just stood up and crossed the border. Let's hope that they never will however lol.

I can't count to 100 let alone know if your maths was wrong or not.

China's population is a rather large weakness more so then a strength. They are facing a demographic nightmare from a rapidly aging population with a shortage of females. Also, if they want to "just stand up and cross the border" they have to go through some very dangerous and unstable places. The result would be a lot of dead old folks.

Home to 11 million people, a center for petroleum industries, the death toll is rising. So sad.

Strange how its an industrial incident and the discussion goes straight to overpopulation. Its an urban city, of course its densely populated.

But the scale of this is massive. I'm now more bugged about the risks of living in an industrial city. Few years ago, we had a medical factory that leaked radiation and it was immediately covered up. God knows how many people was exposed then. But most of the time people do adhere to international safety standards, this is worrisome..
