As far as I can tell, the only things we know about the world size is that it is some kind of open world (different planets) and x times bigger then ME3. Do you guys think that the world will be bigger then DA:I? And how big of a world would you want in the upcoming Mass Effect?

They say it's suppossed to be larger than ME:1 Maps and they were pretty big, so i think that if done well the side missions/ exploring will be REALLY fun especially with the Mako.

Big enough, hopefully. I really don't know but I hope it's not inflated with filler content.

Well, they sure are taking their time on this one (hopefully a good indicator of game size and depth?).  I imagine it will be big, but as we know with games these days, let's wait until they provide more information, and be careful with our assumptions.

Leak said 4x the size of ME3.

I hope for 100+ hours of playtime for SP.

As long as that doesn't equate to 30 hours of actual relevant gameplay + 70 hours of filler :|

According to Shinobi602, it's 100 planets+

Article Here: http://gamingbolt.co...e-possibilities

Let's take half of that. That's 50 planets to explore, while piloting the improved Mako.  I come from a lumbar crushed mako explorer ME1 adventurer. Looking forward to ME:A exploration with a Mako.. NOT!

Focused on exploration? The trailer clearly shows the N7 pathfinder(?), scanning through a visual catalogue of pre-scouted planets, that need detailed exploration to find those Remnant Caves. I'd say DAI, here we go again.

Probably most of the planets are either very small, or have not much significance to the story. I'd rather have them doing like 10-20 big planets instead of 100 duplicate ones.

I hope they take the approach to create the content first and then build the world around it.

I'm pretty sure the Dragon Age Inqusition team created the world first and then filled it with content. Unfortunately they couldn't fill the huge world with enough interesting stuff, which resulted in 80% of it being shallow and boring.

I don't want a big world for the sake of it.

If the world's got festive characters who have engaging personalities and very human-like wants you'd long for too (Or not - Could be for good or bad - They have their reasons), it makes the world come alive. That's got to be why I loved the Shire in J R R Tolkein's books and the movies. Anything like this that plays with/messes up your feelings - I love that kind of world

Hopefully a fraction of DA:I

I want a long and interesting main story, not a weaksauce one with a hundred hours of pointless open world stuff in between.

You mean you didn't enjoy hunting for mutton and finding a widow's lost ring?

I wouldn't mind a main mission, then an overarching side mission, that some could argue could be the game's plot.  I like those types of games with meaningful side quests/missions.

Depends on how well done it is I guess - the Mass Effect games have more side-quest than actual ongoing story missions; from the SSV missions in ME1 to loyalty missions in ME2 ... these aren't huge missions nor do they really advance the story but it was nice to uncover Cerberus history in ME1 for instance, it gave me a reason to be arsey to TIM, Miranda and Jacob in ME2 (as far as that's possible).

The Witcher games have a lot of side-quests as well but they're normally interesting or fit with the theme that your day job is "professional monster hunter" - so I'm good with them.

All we know about ME:A is that you're an N7 Pathfinder - that tends to imply you've got a sort of Paratrooper-come-scout profession. If done well this could spawn reconnaissance, infiltration or sabotage type missions. Scout out areas, find hidden goodies, infiltrate behind enemy positions and sabotage power generators, laser-point (or the space equivalent thereof) enemy positions to call in orbital bombardment, investigate ruins, hack comms systems... there's a lot that could be done.

I would hate to have the equivalent of Gadgetezan <-> Booty Bay fetch quests though; that was enough for me to cancel my WoW subscription after a couple of months.

I agree, looking back at the BioWare games the problem with Inquisition isn't that they added filler quests is that they took a different approach with them. Back when I was playing Mass Effect 2 I was able to complete Mass Effect 1 in around three hours if I recall correctly so that means there are tens of hours of filler content to pad out the game.

ME1 was about 4-6 hours if you skipped dialogue(s), skipped custcenes, and did no side quests.  Quite disappointing.

Even at 4-6 hours it still works out as pretty good value for money when compared to going to the cinema :)

I've always felt as if Mass Effect was like a cinema.
