I know man, what the heck! Where the heck is Sandal and why is he not in this game?!?!?!

There was one bug that nearly broke the DLC for me.
Enemies kept disappearing into the walls and I couldn't kill them, hit them or get out of combat as a result.

Still no Sandal, 12/10. Good riddance.
Must say despite the descent isn't really bad, it's not what has been expected, and it only makes Thedas even more complicated....it should be clear that there're in fact many side stories in the plot that can be further made up for through DLCs....yet this new addition relates very little to what has happened to everything above the surface...
I assume this DLC is simply for introducing the dwarven gods...but not sure whether a world with plenty of gods is a good idea or not

I believe there is a reference / codex entry to Bodahn (Sandal's father) in this DLC, or the previous one.
can someone confirm this?
The Decent...I don't even know how to feel about this. Enemies were nothing more than damage sponges who hit like trucks and immune to almost everything. artificial difficulty at it's worst. The Guardian pounded my ass into dust because I was spending all my time reviving companions that I didn't have time to figure out the strategy. Your companions might as well not even be there, they say almost nothing at all. Valta and Renn were a good duo, but once Renn died all characterization in the DLC dropped like a rock. Sunlight and Trees miles below the ground inside something that is apparently alive, perfectly logical. Love how no one questioned it. A dwarf casts a spell...and again no one even did a double take at this as if it's normal.
No answers for pretty much anything, and nothing but questions that we'll be lucky if they ever get answered. Meanwhile the whole first half was basically just a mindless slog through way too many Darkspawn. New armor and weapons to craft, but for me that's not something I get excited about. Don't really care that there was no Dragons, because dragons in the Deep Roads would be stupid imo. No new Talents or Levels. Don't particularly care about a raised level cap, simply noting it wasn't touched. The Story- the main thing I care about, felt like it was stopped abruptly just when I was finally starting to get invested, because there was very little plot leading up to The Uncharted Abyss.
The level design was nothing short of stunning. The Bastion of the Pure is simply gorgeous, the Deep Roads were much better than previous games. The music was, as always, enjoyable to listen to, but might become repetitive if fights drag on too long. A second, unique war table introduces new possibilities for DLCs. Sadly most of the options didn't lead to anything really interesting, however it was good to see mechanics being added. $15 is way too much for this, imo. I would rate this overall as a 5/10, right along Jaws of Hakkon, due to Jaws "more of the same" attitude with fetch quests.
Still a better ending than ME3.
Descent is the first content from Bioware, including both previous instalments and all the addons, about which I can say this – like a few others here I found it a disappointment.
My compliments to the art department for the look of the bottom level, but everything else was substandard. It feels like an idea sketched out in a story meeting, then shelved, then dusted off again and kitted out with some quick monsters and loot to provide filler to retain the attention of the masses while they think about what's next.
I like loot as well as the next player, but if I'm going to trek halfway back across a level to a new area that's opened up, I want to find more than just a chamber with a couple of boxes of the same kind of loot (five lyrium-infused staffs?). I want to find an occasional interesting character who might have something to say, I want to find a piece of history, I want some answers. None of that. Just monsters and loot. All right, and a handful of notes about some kind of war. Between who, for what?
Speaking of monsters, I appreciate the occasional exceptional combat challenge, but how many earthshakers were there coming at you, one after the other? After a while, it's not a challenge any more, it's a grind. Unimaginative.
There was terrific potential there, especially at the bottom. Who are these people? How have they lived so far below us for so long and we never knew it? What happened to them? There are remains of a vast civilization here, what happened to it? Imagine what kind of conversation you could have with a titan?! Possibilities barely hinted at, and no indication of an answer, unless you want to count that hasty excuse of a wrap-up by Valta at the end.
Maybe this was a teaser, setting the stage for an expansion, but to me Valta's explanation sounded more like a lazy wrap-up of an interesting idea they didn't invest the time and resources to develop properly. Disappointing.
These DLC's are getting impossibly harder and harder, I'm more a casual gamer but even so I did manage to complete the base game on 'hard' difficulty, but then part way through jaws of hakkon I had to drop to 'Normal', and then partway through this dlc I had to drop down to 'Casual', I'm worried at this rate that I won't be able to complete the next dlc even on casual if they keep this up heh.

Allow me to expatiate further –
Imagine that the big blue crystal is the Titan's beating heart. I saw that crystal, and I thought, it looks like a heart, and foolish me, I got excited for a moment. Now instead of it turning into a big dumb by-the-numbers boss to be battered to pieces, imagine that as you approach you actually enter the heart of the world Titan, and learn of its love for the earth and its grief at the misery we inflict upon it. Then imagine that you go on to enter the mind of the Titan. What profundities could Bioware's writers broach for us? They've demonstrated the imaginative capacity. Imagine the new lands it could open up for us to explore. A wonderful storytelling opportunity, completely wasted.
Listen carefully. That’s the sound of me grinding my teeth.

Sounds like something to avoid, thanks.
It can be difficult, but with the exception of the final battle, it provides a tactical challenge. Where to make a stand, use of higher elevation, which team to bring, etc. And being disabled and playing on NM difficulty, if I am able to play, most certainly should be able to do this, too. However, I do require Pause and Tac-Cam; not so smooth w/o them.
Tactical challenge? Lol, it was the same dull crap as the rest of the combat. Only difference is they tacked on craploads of extra health onto the enemies and gave them a bunch of immunities.

Ok finished the DLC and i personally liked it. Combat was fun, environments were extremely well designed. It was what i expected deep roads to be and the game satisfied that feeling perfectly. i would not mind more of this type of DLC, one long adventure/dungeon crawl, i also liked the deep roads in origins as well.
So yes overall quite satisfied with the DLC, good combat, alright loot, more lore and deep roads. Ogres were easy and the same tactic from origins works on them which is when they grab someone you use a physical effect to disable them IE stun, Knock down blow and many number of things and all of them work. I loved the new enemy density and thats what i want.
No; they allowed enemies to have certain advantages, and a Player could utilize tactics to overcome them. Simply because one Player chooses to repeat the process they select does not mean every Player has to do the same. The Alpha Emissary was a different confrontation than the Lyrium Dwarves or the Alpha Ogre, or it was for my choices.
Weirdly enough i agree with Elhanan on this. Different enemies required different tactics. The bolters you had to rush and take them down, besides a decent build warrior could tank them, my 2 handed reaver could take a lot of those shots due to frontal DR. I went down the DLC with a decently equipped party having a mix of t3/t4 material crafted gear.
My feedback:
It was awesome, but needed a lot more companion dialog,
End of feedback.

Required different tactics? I didn't require different tactics at all. I went through that DLC the same way I went through the entire game, and it made no difference. I am not playing on normal or easy either. I always went straight at archers or mages, I always eliminate them first.
This DLC did not require playing it different at all. I didn't have any trouble killing anything in this DLC at all, except the final boss, it just took longer because of the increased health. By the end of it with each new fight I was barely paying attention, I was so bored with them. Just wanted to get it over with.
I found none of the characters in DAI truly interesting, just knock-offs of the ME2 squad;
Cole- EDI
Varric- Garrus
Iron Bull- Wrex/Grunt
Vivienne- Miranda
Solas- Mordin (or just a Vulcan if you're a Trekkie.)
Morrigan- Javic
Blackwall- Samara
Cassandra- Liara
Sera- Tali
I agree with everything you say except your comparisons to ME2 characters. I don't find the characters you compared all that similar at all.
I would trade that DA:ME converter; appears to be rather errant for personalities, IMO.
Sera - acidic; Tali is endearing.
Cassandra - direct and confrontational; Liara is Dorothy from Oz.
Cole is empathetic; EDI is naïve.
Etc.
Oh dear Gods now see what you've done? I have to agree with Elhanan. The world is surely going to implode. ![]()

Overall, the Descent DLC was good. The fight with the Emissary Alpha was a little long. I like that the darkspawn kept coming in waves. The player got the sense that the darkspawn were there in large numbers. I also like how in the Bastion of the Purse there were no darkspawn because of the Sha-Brytol.
Not needing to collect all the gears to open the gates was welcomed.
I really would like to see a dlc that does not end with a big boss fight or as least allow another way to resolve the situation. I would have like to see Valta communicate with the ltitan through the lyrium heart (or a dwarf Inquisitor), thereby calming the Titan before it becomes a lyrium wraith especially after wading through waves of Sha-Brytol
