Sorry to be the one to rain on your parade, but why is everyone in this thread so convinced that the SP "extension" will have an expansion's worth of content? Have I missed something?
I'd be happy for five hours (aka Witch Hunt), combined with the improvements from player feedback and dropping of lastgen support I'd gladly shell out 20 bucks, Chuckles or no.
I'm not sure expansion worth of content if you look at Awakening.I doubt we'll get a bunch of new companions for example.
But a 20 hours + expansion maybe.
It's a lot of things to put in a DLC .It requires a couple of maps , and places.A couple of important NPC to explain the mess etc...
Witch Hunt , the plot was ...you go after Morrigan .That's it.
That's not what's happening here if you believe the leak.

There was the DLC survey leak...it had a couple of plots :
The last adventure of the Inquisition .(so maybe deciding the fate of the organisation)
Assassins trying to gut the Inquisitor .(there's talk of trouble during Inquisition epilogue)
Trouble in the fade and the one who started it all (Perhaps solas)
And the Qunari invasion starting.

You're making me all fluttery with unrealistic expectations. I love it.

I'm hoping for a post game expansion (Even if they don't call it that).
I expect Solas' role in the Inquisitor's story to be resolved but Solas' story will continue into the next main installment.
At this point I would expect the expansion to introduce the Qunari invasion, but I'm hoping it will feature the coronation of Divine Victoria.
I honestly think if they do anything with Solas at all, it will be a tease like Witch Hunt was for the Eluvians. I think Solas is gonna play a much larger role in a future game, and I suspect they want to save him for that.
But hey, I could be wrong.

Was there mention of a major announcement or is this just speculations? To me Solas only makes sense in an expansion and i'll tell you why. If we resolve his plot line in a mere DLC I consider Bioware giving us an unfinished game. To conclude Solas' arc in a 4 hour DLC begs the question as to why this wasn't initially in the vanilla game. An expansion/ extension provides us heaps of content which would make it ok to sell as an addition to the game.

Yeah I'd much rather they expand on stuff rather than starting from scratch (don't need another Tallis). Makes me think about DA2's cancelled Exalted March expansion.

Something driving the Qun out of Par Vollan, maybe, but not an invasion. It also doesn't make much sense due to extreme lack of setup and other plot threads urgently needing resolution.

What if the Qunari invade during the coronation of Divine Victoria?
Spoiler
It would be great, especially if it shows a couple of Qunari attempting to attack the new Divine, thinking she's just a regular person, and depending on who the Divine is in your playthrough, kick them to the curb!
If the Qunari reach as far as Orlais before we notice anything's going on then Thedas is screwed anyway ![]()

I never expect Solas. If he re-appears, you will undoubtly get more questions than answers, just like the Witch Hunt or the Descent.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth if some of his plot isn't resolved in this cycle will eclipse that of what happened at the end of Best of Both Worlds part one.
Cliffhangers suck.

I'm sure they'll say something about the next dlc at pax.

I know it's never going to happen, but I'd be excited if they announced that DA4 will also feature the Inquisitor. Again, it's not going to happen--there will almost certainly be a brand new protagonist.
Since it's Inquisition content, the only thing I can think of is either the Relics of Thedas winners, and whatever DLC it will be featured in, and/or new story DLC.
Might it be the "final" DLC? Sure. Could there be multiple future DLCs planned? Entirely possible.
What would disappoint, but not surprise, me is if they ceased to add content after the end of this year/beginning of next year, since (as far as we know at the moment) BioWare's next singleplayer game will be Mass Effect: Andromeda at the end of next year--we can probably count on that being delayed into 2017 sometime. They're going to want us to stay invested in their games and keep paying for them until the next big game comes out--but a lot of games now cease support after a year, when not long ago they used to be supported for around 2 years or more in some cases.
I'd rather there be several story based DLCs with the final one being a huge one, than just one more, even if it's a huge one. But, with people suddenly leaving the team, maybe the final DLC actually is on the horizon--if so, let's hope it's a great one. I loved ME3's Citadel DLC, but that was more of a fun romp than what I hope to get in any DA:I post-campaign DLC. I'd hope that any post-campaign DLC would be lore-heavy and deal with some of the questions raised during the course of the series thus far.
For me, I don't really care if the DLC is or isn't about a certain elven apostate, though resolving certain questions about him and also resolving certain loose ended plot connections to certain Inquisitors would be quite nice.
For non-Inquisition content, I'd love to see them finally announce one of their new IPs (aside from scrapped project Shadow Realms). I think there are one or two of them in the works, and yet no one but BioWare knows anything about them. It's hard to picture them doing another science fiction title while working on both SWTOR and Mass Effect, but maybe a different sort of fantasy? Or cyberpunk or steampunk? Or maybe something more grounded in reality? I don't think, for the record, that they'll actually announce a new IP at PAX, since they didn't at Gamescom.

I'll be honest, I WANT an expansion and/or DLC which lets solas back into your team. Mainly because he finishes my strategic NPC ally trifecta. And my team has always felt neutered without him
Sure, I can use vivienne, kind of. But she's such a stick in the mud.
That said, I'm very doubtful we'll get any sort of expansion or DLC of him in the near future. I'm expecting at least one more of these standalone DLC's. Then I'm expecting a DA4 announcement which says they'll incorporate the expansion they planned for DAI in DA4.
For the simple reason that making an awakenings-style expansion is no longer a viable bussiness option. Don't get me wrong... I would pay through the nose for it. But it ain't happening.
Having typed all that... I still have a glimmer of hope for it though. Damn you Bioware. Why must you continue to let me hope so?

A free "Skyhold outfits and hair" dlc?...
Unless there's some tech reason, if they were to do such a thing, it might just be added by patch.

I should point out the leaked survey said "test your might against a battle hardened Qunari army" that does not necessarily mean a full on Qunari invasion.

Maybe. But I really would love for the invasion to happen. I would love to see Sten again, then my warden strolls in and give him an earful before pinching his ear for the invasion.

In PAX we will get nothing, mark my words, it's too soon and it's DLC. The Descent wasn't announced a week before release, I doubt any DLC is close to that stage.

Maybe, but this was Austin, and we know that Leliana's VA was in the booth in Edmonton a few months back, along with more bard songs being recorded.
There's been hints that since Austin did the dlc it freed up the main team for something else.

So it's not clear just how clear the knowledge is that we're clearly getting something?
