Are there any plans to make an "Invite Only" option in the lobby?

There are times when people from my "friends" list, just jump into my game.  Not a problem as friends are good?

This mostly becomes a problem when we are holding a spot for someone or they disconnect and cannot get back into the game quickly.  Sometimes I just want to knock out some kills on my own or try win with 2/3 people.

It is not always possible to quickly inform the person who has just joined if you are busy fighting on NM/HB and they end up clearing a zone with you only to be asked to leave :(

It is embarrassing for me to have to message someone I have played with before, and ask if they wouldn't mind leaving the game.  I have been asked to leave a few times too on games I have joined.

On Nightmare/Heartbreaker people can take quite a while to respond to messages asking if it is ok to join.  I do not think this is the way to go anyway.

I personally think it would be a great idea to add "Invite Only" to the options.

So either;

Public / Private / Invite Only

or

Public / Private Open / Private Closed

The same thing just different headings obviously.  (inb4 open privates jokes  )

What are your thoughts on this?

Well there are literally no reasons not to do this. Completely sensible request that shouldn't be too difficult to implement, that is unless MP devs dont have direct control over networking and have to rely on changes in origins itself, than it will probably never happen.

'Invite Only' would be very nice. I sometimes play on invisible to avoid ninjas.

 me too.  And I actually like to just PUG sometimes -- no pressure to talk, can drop right out after it's over without feeling obliged to stay, etc.

(1) Do not join a match unless you have been invited ;)
(2) No span f4 unless For Fun mode ^_^
(3) not try to be a hero: trying to raise him under alot horror or worse in front of the cannon of despair demons
(4) anyone have any suggestions?  :?

I blame the Origin client. It will send people on your friends list a link to join even when you did not invite someone. I think I've joined a few games in the past when I was not invited without realizing it. Pretty mortifying. It's sort of like Linkedin which was notorious for soliciting contacts on your behalf without your knowledge.

I just got a PS4 and this threw me for a second. " friend x has joined a party, you can join this party too if you want!" Not an invite but I assume it's telling me I can crash their party... Weird.

But anyway yes this should be implemented and multiple friends and I have talked about the need for invite only parties for a long time. While we're at it can we get the option to change lobby status while in game? That would be greeeeeat.

I would love the option to change the game from private to public during the match.  When I have it set to private and someone has to leave or disconnects you become stuck with a group less than four.  If nobody else is on to invite, why can't it just be changes to public and allow someone to randomly join?

I would still like to be able to change a match from Public to Private while it's in session. Crash/freeze/bugged drops happen often enough that there are times where the game you were in filled up while you were restarting. More of a problem for people who pug or play with only 1 or 2 friends + pug but I can't imagine I'm the only one like that.

Both in this game, as well as ME3, I've generally told my friends that they don't have to ask before dropping into my games.  On the condition of course, that if they came into "someone else's" slot, they have the good grace to exit when asked to do so.  I've never had any friend have a problem with that.  If they did, of course, they wouldn't be a friend... ;)

PSN's definition of a "friend" is totally different

It's a BS term to make us thing we have loads of "friends" , rather than "people I have added who play the same games as me who I mostly don't give a shyt about"

I have people on PSN I consider friends, the other 36 are "friends"

What are your thoughts on this?

Yes, your thoughts are similar to a post that I made back in May this year.

"Just thought I would run this by you for opinions etc. I have a core of about 10 players in my friends list that I play with regularly. Each of us therefore can automatically join another's game. Here are two situations where I can find myself in a socially awkward position ('cos I am a really nice guy and I do not like upsetting people).

Private. Team of 4 friends. One crashes and they need to restart the game (in a loop) in order to rejoin. Meanwhile, another friend in my (or another's) list joins. Need to explain that we are waiting for another and can you please vacate the slot.

Private. Team of 4 friends. One leaves to ( bio / sandwich / phone call / answer door ) and will be gone for 10 minutes or so. We start to play and they plan to join once they are free. Meanwhile, another friend in my (or another's) list joins. Again, need to explain that we are waiting for another and can you please vacate the slot.

Maybe it's just me, but I like to avoid situations that I personally find awkward. So, I thought could there be a way of circumventing this. When you select "Join Game" from the friends list and there is a spare slot, could the friend receive a message as such and they can choose an option ( Yes / Sorry no, we are waiting another ) and depending on what you select, the program would follow that action. All this could be done through the Origin friend chat of course, however, that interrupts play in which you could be rather busy at trying to stay alive At a suitable point (in between rooms or at the end of the match) you could explain more in the Origin chat."

The usual trolls slated my thoughts then, just thought that I would paste this as we seem to be on the same wavelength on this.

Yes, same here I always ask. To be honest if a friend auto joins without messaging, they usually ask if it is ok when they are in the lobby or have joined.

I guess I'm glad I followed my instincts and not jumped in your games when I see you on. When i see people on my friends list on, I have gotten in the habit of asking first before jumping in.

*SET TO INVISIBLE* problem solved

Sadly, this is not a thing that exists on Playstation.

Even more annoying - on PS3, you at least could set your "status" to "unavailable". People still saw you online, but usually they understood if you had that status on, it was a giant "do not disturb" sign. That apparently went away when we "upgraded" to PS4, so there is no status listing anymore. You just show to the world as always available, all the time.

Um, no. Sony pls.

I always ask if I can join and leave the lobby until I get an invite back. (Well unless Drasca is running around in an empty open lobby at FC zone 4 lol)
