I've never heard of this until stumbling on it today.  The use of plastic shade balls released on large reservoirs to help reduce evaporation and the development of some chemical reactions.  In one LA reservoir they just released 96,000,000 of the things to cover the water and absorb the heat.

Is it in one piece or multiple pieces?

in b4 you have to antibacterialize it because the water doesn't get sun-rays to kill the crap.

96 million balls the size of an apple.  sun rays actually help the crap grow in most cases.

California will need way more balls than that to survive.

California (and Texas) are probably good on balls. They're lacking in brains

Just saw that yesterday. Interesting idea, but I'd have thought they'd use white balls to reflect the light away. If they want to get really tricky they should put photo-voltaic collectors in them and turn it into one huge solar panel.

Water is the only commodity that can't be shipped.

Tell that to the Japanese.
