I'm just a fan with some ideas for ME:A...

One thing I loved about ME:3 was the addition of using weapon weight to counter ability usage.

We can all see there are 3 archetypes to choose from - Combat (Weaponry), Biotics and Tech.  Using these 3 archetypes we come to the concepts for every class we've seen in the series so far.

Soldier = Combat.

Adept = Biotics

Engineer = Tech

Infiltrator = Combat/Tech

Vanguard = Combat/Biotics

Sentinel = Biotics/Tech

We have several sub-classes as well especially noted in multiplayer.

What I would like to see is focus on these 3 individually, maybe in the style of an upgrade table like our guns were.  Being able to upgrade my Omni-tool or Biotic Amps in a similar way would really bring the possibility of a huge amount of customization in our combat.  An idea for how to do this could be to go to the citadel in order to buy an Omni-tool upgrade that allows it to function as a shield like the Paladins did.  We could have quests based on this sort of thing as well!  Infiltrate Cerberus (or whatever organizations we may face) and steal their technology to use in enhancing your Biotics in whatever flavor you prefer.  We could have to kill a big Krogan villain in order to get extremely heavy and powerful weaponry, like a Gatling gun.

There's also the style of combat to take into account.  Besides your combat/biotic/tech choices, they've brought in the concept of where on the battlefield you like to be.  Do you like to be in the back blowing stuff up or in the middle of everything taking some damage and dishing it back.  Having a melee and ranged option for each archetype available to players will make customization even more fulfilling.

Examples we could use for our upgrade tables could be like skill trees for each as well as items to buy/quest for and install ourselves.  This is sort of a combination of the ME:3 leveling tree and the upgrading.

There are so many currently and so many possibilities here are just a few...

Omni: Blade (standard), Sword, Hammer (Krogan Warlord), Shield (Paladin), Ax, Crossbow (Talon Mercenary), Incinerate, Energy Drain, Overload, Cloak, etc...

Drones: Incinerate, Freeze, Shock, Tank (taunts/draws attention), Healer (disperses medi gel), Shield Barrier (create own cover that can be killed)

Weapon Ammos: Armor Penetration, Tech, Biotic, Poison,

Grenades: Frag, Tech, Biotic, EMP

Attachments: Scopes, Barrels, Grips, Triggers, Laser Sights, Grenade attachment, Shotgun attachment, Single/Burst/Auto fire toggle, etc...

Melee style weapons:  Shield (Cerberus Guardian), Stun Batons, Swords, Hammers, Axes, Long Bow, etc...

Additive effects to Biotics abilities like DOTs, AoE damage, ranged executes

Using the Mass Effect 3 model of the weapon weight vs ability cool downs, this could make for some very interesting and immersive character building without it getting out of hand and illogically powerful.

I can't wait to see the direction they go with ME:A.  There have been shortcomings that I cannot deny but the combat keeps getting better in each game.

What's with all the wanting outdated medievil tech in futuristic warfare?! There are plausible weapon's like a Omni-Bayonet and Omni-Blade, then there are rediculous gimick weapon's that should stay where the gimick's belong(MP) like Omni-Bow or a sword or axe. Kai Leng and his freak clone's were bad enough, let's let that part die or stay away from SP. Otherwise I've been advocating bringing back Bio-Amp's and Omni-Tool's as equipment so I agree with you some what.

It's a flavor thing.  I loved that aspect of the game.  Think of it more for a replacement of your punch ability though rather than a full playstyle like the Krogan Warlord was, though I wouldn't be upset at all if it came to that as long as they executed it well.  Fans of Star Wars and Wildstar and I'm sure anyone who plays a Vanguard, Sentinel, or Shotgun style Infiltrator could be interested in that sort of thing.

Well, don't use them then. Lol. If the Krogans already get warhammers (which is also archaic), why not some futuristic type of bladed weapon?

Actually, Phantoms weren't that bad. The sword made them more formidable in melee range, but they had a weapon mounted in the gauntlet of their free hand too, which packed a fairly good punch on Insanity, though Phantom Jack was a total gyp for not having special biotic abilities to set her apart from the regular lot. Kai Leng sucked because he only had the sword and nothing else, not even tech or biotic abilities to get you from a distance.

I agree with you.  Right now it's flavor of the month, next month it will be something different.  This shall pass.

Because Krogan are a Biologic anomaly that effectively allow them to be useful with a weapon like thtat, give a human a broadsword or Katana and then watch as they get mowed down by people who use gun's. We have a great historical refference for this seeing as it's allready happened in Japans' past.

Phantom's you're right on but Kai Leng is still completely undefendable and the worst boss out of all 3 game's because of his lack of ranged weapon.

I'm not talking about solely running into gun battle carelessly with a sword. That's be dumb. But up close? As mentioned earlier, the husks from ME2 would've been the perfect application and I'm sure that that isn't the last time we have enemies like that. Also, it'd be good in up close stealthy situations.

Ok, I agree a better weapon for up close would be nice, like a semi- or full-auto shotgun.......and stealth takedown's would work great with some kind of always on hand short blade...wait didn't I just describe 2 thing's allready in Mass Effect? :)
