Hello,

really sorry for my english. I try my best. Hope you understand what I'm writing.

I wrote this in a other forum. It's just my personal (!) opinion:

"Descent" is a "fighting DLC" and "Hakkon" was just a new, huge area. If I want really huge areas I play Skyrim and if I want to fight I play 3.276 other PC games (and if I want multiplayer I surely will NOT play a Bioware game ....).

I want roleplaying, a great main story DLC, lot of little stories for my companions (Cole, my friend Dorian, my friend Cassandra and, and, and), storys & dialoges & scenes for my romance, emotion, drama, emotion and a Happy End. I want 2 or 3 new hairstyles and a few new options for Skyhold. Of course I want to fight, but within the story and stories.
THIS is what I want ... and what do I get: Multiplayer DLC, few ugly barbarian Items, Multiplayer DLC, huge area DLC (bit boring somehow, with ... boring barbarians), few Qunari items, fighting DLC. I'm (sorry) ... pissed, angry and dissapointed.

Bioware have a monopole for this type of game, like Skyrim and WoW are famous for "their type of games". Bioware is famous for "real good roleplaying games".
Bioware is the only game developer who make really great roleplaying games with a wonderful, emotional story and a incredible "deep" world. Who ever played pen&pen roleplaying games know: The Dragon Age world is so detailed, it could be a P&P world. Respect!
A world who are really hard sometimes, but not so depressive like other RPG worlds at the moment (you are dying, we are dying, everbody is dying and screaming and black and sad and dark bubbles ...). A game where the people can choose (!!) their character, even (incredible but true) females. With companions who "live & feel" and wonderful, wonderful romances.

And what type of DLC are Bioware making? New areas and fighting DLC's .... what the heck ....
I'm really, really hoping that one day a other game developer will show Bioware HOW you really use the capacity of a monople. And how you treat your fans.

(But we don't want to talk about "treat fans / customers". Hey Bioware, I will not forget how you treated the fans in your forum (me too, by the way), when MassEffect 3 was released and a lot of people were angry about the ending.)

A other User (DawnlessSky) wrote this about the new DLC:

Yeah it def wasn't worth 15$ . For a "Story DLC", there wasn't much story >.>
And no new companion dialogs except for the line in the elevator and their line when you reach the last area (even checked the file. each companion gets 2 dialogs >.>)

And the "secret" that you discover... you don't seem to be doing anything about it.
"OMG!! This could change the world if we told people... ... ... ... Sooooo, what's for diner?"

Thanks for attention! ^_^

Fighting DLC... now that you have mentioned it... I havent bought the DLC - after watching it on youtube, I'd wait for a 50% discount :P

There is plenty of fighting and I like fighting games too as they helps to relief stress... but the HP on them darn enemies in this DLC just seems to be a stress generator.

Maybe Bioware should branch out and do for DA something like Nintendo did for TLoZ - I dont like it much but it is at least fun :P

https://youtu.be/xm7u4TGao_U?t=12s

No need to pack Dota, LOL, Dynasty Warriors into DA

Seriously, why would I ever want to play DA MP... when like... every major MP game out there is like better..  :?

[Edit]

Hrmf.... just realize how many enemies are in the Hyrule Warrior trailer. In one screen there must be as many NPCs as DAI in its entirety. Sure the lighting is not as good (neither is DAI on last gen) but hey that game runs at 720p 60FPS and it is on Wii U which is a console that is between last gen and current gen.

I can't agree with this more. Bioware games are by far my favourite type of game, and quite obviously, they're they only ones who make them. (I wish more devs would try making awesome story-driven RPGs without set protagonists.) They let me get immersed as my own character, in an awesome world, with great companions. I love that. But I only get Bioware games every 2 years or more, because that's how often they make them, so naturally I long for DLC to add more to the story. It's very disappointing when something like this happens.

I don't know if this is mentioned anywhere else but I just found out that Descent and all future Dragon Age Inquisition DLC will not be supported on last gen (ie: XBox 360 or PS3). All I can say is that, as an XBox 360 user who cannot afford to spend $399+ for an XBox One, Bioware has lost a customer in the future. I will not, at least unless something radical changes my mind, be purchasing any future Bioware games. I feel that Bioware took advantage of me to get my 60$ for Inquisition plus the Jaws of Hakkon, then are trying to push me to pay another 60$ to get the XBox One version and probably make me pay more money for all the DLC as well. If Bioware was not going to have all DLC available for the older consoles like the 360 then they should not have released it for the XBox 360 and PS3 in the first place.

Rappeldrache I think you did an acceptable job of expressing your opinions in English.  I'm sure far better then I would have done if I Had attempted a second language.

I agree with you.  BioWare are the only gaming company who makes games like these, and they are totally throwing it out the window with these action heavy dlc's.  I don't really understand if they just simply are tired of making rpgs or if they really are trying to bring in action fans.  It's very disappointing.  Descent didn't even try to keep up the guise of "illusion of choice"  it was a streamlined slog fest from start to finish.

I'm hearing some pretty disappointing things about Descent. I'll wait on a sale. It sounds like they emphasized everything about BioWare games that I don't care much about, at the expense of everything else.

Looking forward to that probable epilogue DLC, at least.

That's what I would say happened. I preferred Jaws of Hakkon, and I had similar problems with that DLC...

I'd honestly try the witcher 3 if i were you. it gave me that "bioware" feeling, or definitely the feeling of story and emotion that bioware once gave me. It's as close as you're going to get to the sort of game dragon age origins was until dragon age 4.

Well, that was the whole game really, wasn't it. They used to make games about characters, now they just make large areas with combat, and barely any characters in them at all....Name an NPC in Emerald Graves, Hissing Wastes, Fallow Mire, Forbidden Oasis etc. And NPCs that are there don't have any kind of meaningful interaction.

It is a real shame, as BW used to be the best at this type of game.

Difficulty of DLC I checked if in options if I still on casual. I was  Enemys takes so long to take down and I have great gear. Boss battle would be impossible with only close combat chars. cass with sword and shield and Cole with daggers die almost instantly. Good I am mage and Sera have bow.

This is my issue with B-Wares Dlc direction see in my opinion Jaws of Hakkon was just more pointless openworld nonesense with even more unnecessary fetch quests which ended up as more filler content. They couldn't give us a Hair Dlc Pack even though we have begged and pleaded for one but nope not happening. The Descent was ok I enjoyed it enough but I don't think it was worth 15$ hell neither was Hakkon for the matter of fact and in the future I'm not gonna be paying 15$ again unless its for a Citadel Type Dlc "Story being the Main Focus" or an Awakening Expansion.

I have beaten DAI 9 times and I'm pretty much done at this point I'm waiting on Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3's First Expansion and at this point The Witcher 3,Skyrim,Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas are satiating my RPG cravings until Nov.But I will keep my ears open about future DAI content but unless they release a higher quality of Dlc I probably won't play DAI again.

Off Topic:
I'm afraid they have stopped patching the SP and are now only focusing on the MP and the XBox 1 version still has serious issues like a well known problem where you get kicked out of game and you end up back on the Dashboard its annoying as hell.

I dont think they will make the Wolf Hunt Dlc all Solasmancers want you gotta remember how pissed alot of people were with Witch Hunt because if you didnt romance Morrigan it felt a little weak and the only way they got away with that was that Alistair,Leliana & Zevran were all not available for the Dlc but Wolf Hunt doesn't have that as an option unless they set it after the end of the game thus B-Ware could send all the companions packing and give the Inquisitor 3 New Companions specifically for the Dlc Ala Witch Hunt.

But if all the Companions/LIs are available and B-Ware shafts the other options in favor of Solas/Lavellan they will have a **** Storm on their hands.

I honestly enjoyed The Descent for one reason only it added more Race specific Dialogs for my DwarfQuisitor it was great and I am fine with purchasing it just for that but still I won't be paying 15$ for these type of Dlcs again as I said B-Ware Gimme Story or Get The **** Out.

Thanks. :)  Sorry, don't want to make a ungrateful impression, but:

You know I'm female and I have some trouble sometimes to play a man (in "Whitcher" is it a man, who likes to have sex with a lot of women with big boobs). I would always prefer playing a female character. :( So I'm happy that in Bioware games I have this option. :)

And the world of "Witcher" is somehow so .... depresive and sad. My "daily grind" is hard and when I'm sitting on my pc and playing I want something nice, dangerous ok, but please not as sad and depresive like the daily news in television.

Thats Understandable The Witcher 3 isn't for everyone but it is a Beast of a Rpg and It does have the very touching Father/Daughter story between Gerault/Ciri and now its got New Game+ a feature Inquistion lacks.Oh and you don't actually have to sleep with anyone in The Witcher 3 not Triss or Yen in fact you can ignore the Romances completely if you desire to.

Hehehe but I don't want to ignore the romance. I love the Bioware Romances till Baldurs Gate. :) I have the impression "Whitcher" is not a game made for females. And it's somehow "great but an lucky accident" when a female like this game. ;) Just my personal opinion and impresion. :)

I hear you the Romances are a important part to me as well and in my opinion B-Ware did a better job Romance wise my only real complaint was them not making Vivienne a LI she should have been the 2nd Option for Male Inquisitors instead of Josie seriously that was a kick in the groin B-Ware lol.The Witcher 3 was not that great in that department though it felt rather Shallow granted Gerault is a Male **** seriously he's a dog lol it was also worse than The Witcher 2 in my opinion as well.

I bought Jaws of Hakkon and I regret it. This is going to sound kind of weird, but I'm actually kind of depressed about BioWare's direction with this game. This is not the company I know and love that crafted such amazing cinematic DLC experiences as Lair of the Shadowbroker, The Citadel, Leviathan, etc. I am now extremely worried about how the next Mass Effect is going to play.

Look--I had a ton of issues with the vanilla game, but ultimately, I learned how to bypass as much of the filler as possible so that I could focus on the much better central storyline. But Hakkon is, as the OP says, just another zone. I've done a ton of stuff there (not really enjoying most of it), and I think the only actual cinematic I've seen so far was meeting Scout Harding upon unlocking the zone. I barely even know why I'm there. The most important characters to the story are treated like just every other NPC. I don't care. That makes me sad. It barely seems to have anything to do with the Inquisition, despite the fact that you're actually trying to find out what happened to the first, historical Inquisitor. Why does it matter? What's the purpose of solving this mystery? How does it bare upon anything that affects my Inquisitor's life?

If Star Wars: The Old Republic (BioWare Austin) weren't currently pushing story so hard, I would seriously wonder what has become of this company.

I'm going to complete the main track of Hakkon out of obligation. I won't be buying Descent or any other DLC for this game. I will, however, be playing the heck out of the next SWTOR expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire.

Geralt is the lead, but it has some very well done female characters, one of which you even get to control quite a few times.
