Is there an infinite enemy spawn glitch in The Descent? In the level with all the water?

I’m past the part in the story where enemies infinitely spawn until you blow up the barricade, so it can't be that.

I just went back to go explore some of the areas that the Deep Roads expedition opened up (specifically, the one closest to the camp on that level), and in the openish area after you leave the camp, the enemies just won't stop spawning.

It’s not that I’m dying or running out of potions, since I’m at max level with endgame crafted gear, it’s just that I would really like to explore and move on, but because of the infinite spawns, I can’t. Has anyone else run into this problem?

I wondered about that too. It's annoying, but it's also a great way to level up if there aren't anymore strong opponents to fight. i haven't bought Jaws of Hakkon yet, so I don't know how I'll stack up against the Avvar.

Well, I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one who's run into this then!

As it stands, in this playthrough I'm already at max level, so I don't even get the accidental benefit of leveling up from this. It's just super annoying because I would like to explore the area I unlocked on the expedition table!

From what I can remember, most of the enemies in Jaws were around level 23? I know it doesn't scale like Descent does. So if you were around level 20ish by the end of the vanilla game, you should do alright, although there is a difficulty spike in Jaws and the enemies hit a little harder than the ones in the vanilla game. I was level 23 when I played Jaws, and was extremely surprised when my party wiped in one of my first few encounters on normal. Once you adjust, the difficulty spike is pretty enjoyable, or at least, it was for me.

No, they don't spawn infinitely, but it does feel that way. After what seemed like forever, they did eventually stop spawning and I was able to kill them all. And then I had to leave the area to go get more blood lotus... and when I came back, they respawned AGAIN.  :o

Let me tell you, by the time I was done with that second fight, I was 900% done with them.

You sure ? You didn't do something somewhere ? Like Killing more elite ?

15-30 minutes of awful boring fights and it still goes on for me ... i just quit and start looking for answers, this is too stupid to not be a bug. o_O

I tried to put the the weapons in the wall but nothing happened, i tried focus on the elite but nothing happened either ...

You have to set the charges on the wall, the things you get from the earthquake sha-brytol dudes. You need five, and once they go off it destroys the wall and enemies stop spawning.

Good news, it's not a bug, it's just that stupid:

-gather 5 shay-whatever weapon before the room

-rush to the end of the room, go near the wall

-put the 5 shay-whatever weapon on the wall

-kaboom the wall

-rush to the door behond the wall

-if you quick enough you only have to kill ... THREE shay-whatever dwarf

-finished

Seriously ... infinite waves ... u_u

Yep. If you stand back and just fight, you will get infinite waves. You have to run up and blow up the wall (using 5 shay-whatever lol).

I'm aware that you need 5 earthshakers to destroy the wall--I did that. What I mean is that I returned to the area after the fact to explore an area that I had opened up in the expedition table, and the enemies were still infinitely spawning. The barricade is no longer there (because I blew it up with five of those earthshakers), and I had established the camp behind it.

I went back today to see if this was simply a fluke, and it happened again. 30 minutes of mindless fighting with no hint of letting up or stopping.

I have this problem, and this is the first google result I got.  I did the part of the questline where I blow the gate w/ the five weapons and got to the small camp, but then I went to the expedition table to complete some of the things there and went back to check out the marker that is on the other side of that arena from the camp, but I can't get past the enemies to get there, and if I travel to the beginning of the map to get to it they start coming at me as soon as I get anywhere near that damn arena, and they seem to be infinite as well.  Some programmer messed up and didn't set the flag properly, or set it up so it resets with the map.  Though I hope a patch fixes it I really doubt it's going to happen since it wouldn't be in their financial interests, or those of EA's.

I had the same problem....infinite spawning...I departed never to return...unless it's fixed.

And if you remember The Siege of Redcliffe in Dragon Age: Origins also had infinite enemy spawning until it was fixed.

I get the Sha-Brytol Earthshakers I need to break that barrier, then kill whatever is spawned. Never had them come back that way.

I did, as a test since I've got a level 27 that hasn't done that section of Decent yet, test it and just blow the wall and run, leaving enemies alive when I opened the door to set the camp and, yes, then every time I go back to the area, I get infinite waves.

Apparently, you need to kill all spawned Sha-Brytol after you blow the barrier and, before opening the door to set the camp.
