I'm in the same boat as SerDerb....

When I booted up ME2 it just took the code and didn't ask for an email address or anything, no links to log into EA account anywhere that I can find.... So how do you get onto that through the xbox?

Does xbox live email = EA account?
If so, if I change my xbox live email to match EA email will it work?

Is there a way online to enter my xbox 360 gamertag?

Thanks

The problem is that I did exactly what the page said before they updated it:
"WARNING! redeeming a code will use it permanently; make sure you are logged in to this site with the same email address that you are using for your in-game account! "

So I created a new acccount using the same email that my in-game account uses. Needless to say that it will not let me link my gamertag to this account as it says that it already being used. Good to know that despite what the instructions originally stated (yes, the page has been heavily modified recently) it still did not work.

Now my only recourse is to contact EA to resolve the issue and I refuse to sit on hold for hours at a time.

I gave up holding after an hour. I made an EA account god knows when and apparently linked it to my gamertag... I don't know the details of the account so I was trying to get them to transfer the gamertag details but I said screw it. Hopefully this issue will be resolved and I wont have to waste another 2 hours on the phone.

I think the problem I'm seeing from a lot of people like SerDerb, J3LLO, and myself, is that our XBL gamertags have already been linked to an EA account who knows how long ago and for the life of me I cannot remember what email address that would have been connected to let alone what the password was, but needless to say its not connected to my current email.

As far as I can see there is no way in game to pull up this information, there is only the option to auto login, which for me works fine and I can access the Cerberus Network and download just fine, but I have no way to redeem preorder or collecters edition content since it has to be done on the web with the account information I don't have. As far as I can tell so far the only way to fix this is by dealing with support for who knows how long which I have no desire to do.

The whole thing really just begs the question as to who in their right mind came up with this ridiculous system and didn't see the obvious complications that are happening now, all of which would be avoided if you simply allowed these codes to be redeemed right there within the game through XBL the same way the cerberus code in the collectors edition was rather than having to jump through hoops to do it through the web site.

Still sitting on hold. Sat through the 'live online chat' queue twice so far and keep getting canceled when the countdown finishes.

Anyone know what would happen if I tried to de-activate and close this other account myself?
Would the content and codes I've loaded from the console so far for Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 still function?
Could I then link my Gamertag to my actual EA account without issue?

Update: Got through on the phone, they had to spend some time changing
things over so I would assume trying to delete one with stuff on it
wouldn't work out.

Hey guys, I went in and looked at my windows live ID through xbox 360 account management and click on "Contact Information" and then I tried using that to log into EA (https://profile.ea.com/myprofile.do) and it worked.

I had to make a new http://social.bioware.com/  to match the email address but now when I go to redeem, I can see that my xbox account is liked to the email

Haven't redeemed yet cause I have to run but it looks like that fixed it for me.

(notice how my forum name changed)

Ok, think I got my situation handled, to anyone in the same boat as what I described above here's what I ended up doing.

Basically go to log in and do the forgot password option and enter your gamertag and not an email address. The system will then send an email to whatever address your gamertag was linked to. Now it won't tell you the address it sent it to but it will say that an email was sent to a, for example, yahoo.com address, which for me was enough at least to figure out what account my tag was linked to.

Quite an old account actually, one that had been deactivated from not being used in who knows how long and I actually had to reactivate it, but the email did get sent to it and I was able to change the password and confirm that it was the email linked to my GT in this way which solves the problem for me.

This obviously only works if you can remember the email address in this manner, but it avoids having to mess with customer service if you can at least. If you manage this you can then go to www.support.ea.com and login there and go to My Account and confirm that your XBL gamertag is listed as the default persona to be sure, but if you entered your gamertag on the lost password screen and managed to find the email account that should be pretty much guaranteed I would think, though better safe than sorry at this point.

That's very informative Pazuzoo thank you.

to haagen4life, no that will not work. An EA account is a separate free account offered on the EA website. Think of it as a windows live ID, or even as a ubi.com account.

SirDerb, the only way things can be OK without affecting everything else is that all your codes were loaded on your newest account instead of your older one. If they were placed on your older account all those codes are going to be locked into that old account. Would be better to find a way to merge the accounts rather than delete.

I think this would be more useful as a sticky, but that's just my opinion.

Are you sure it won't work?... I'm on the new account I made that matches my windows live ID and when get to that redeem page that you linked to, it has my email address (matching live) and for xbox it is linked to my 360 gamer tag...

I haven't entered in the second code (eb games Terminus gear) yet but I was about to...

I've attempted to add my gamertag persona to my EA account but it fails everytime, as far as i know i have yet to play an EA game online with my xbox, does that need to happen before a gamertag can be added?

If you've played an EA game in the past, such as Need For Speed, your EA account could have been created since NFS III was out in stores way back when. You do not need to play an EA game for the gamertag to be added, if it's failed it could be a server issue or your gamertag is linked to an EA account already from a PC game you may have played.

Crevice if the proper nicks are showing you should be clear to enter the codes. If you managed to figure out a way to switch you gamertag to your EA account then you're golden. Usually linking Windows Live with your 360 Gamertag works really well, it makes it a lot easier to link accounts than if you don't use Windows Live.

Hi everyone,

This is a tutorial for those who have had headaches linking your accounts in order to access Mass Effect 2 downloadable content.

============================

Step One:

Your bioware social account and your EA account are NOT the same thing!  The EA account is a master account that goes across all EA games, similar to an ubi account.  Anytime you make a purchase, want DLC, or will do anything involving an EA game.  This account is the one you go to for EVERYTHING!

profile.ea.com/login.do

Your account must be linked to an XBOX-LIVE account, so that means that EA and XBOX Live must be linked together.

Step Two:

The most RELIABLE way to link your accounts is to go into your Mass Effect 2 game.  When the game asks you for the Cereberes Network Card information, signing in through your ME2 game assures you with 100% accuracy that you will link to the proper account.  Enter your Cerberes Redemption code and link your account via your e-mail.

Example:
(youremail)@hotmail.com

Make sure that this e-mail address is the same one as your EA account!  Do not put your bioware e-mail, do not put your family e-mail, put the e-mail that is linked to your EA account ONLY!  It is not recommended to share an e-mail address with other users, the reasons are self explanatory.

Step Three:

Once you have linked your Xbox Live account to your EA account, you can go on your PC terminal and access your bioware social page.  Log in with your EA account and you will see that the webpage will display (youremail)@hotmail.com linked to Mass Effect 2.

With the confirmation that your account is linked you can now proceed to enter your redeem codes for Terminus Armor, Collector's Armor, Inferno armor and so on.

Step Four:

Upon going back into your Mass Effect 2 game you will see that the downloadable content button may flash briefly and when you go into extras you will see the new content you activated.  You can now download the content to your Xbox 360.  HOWEVER!  Please note you may need to restart Mass Effect 2 or will have to play in-game for a few minutes in order for the content to be recognized.  Sometimes it's immediate, and sometimes it lags a little bit, just be patient.

Step Five:

If your code does not work, then you must contact EA technical support, but be glad it wasn't due to your error that it didn't work.

============================

DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING:

1.) It is not recommended to redeem your codes before booting up Mass Effect 2.  If something goes wrong with the linking of your account through Mass Effect 2, you will lose those codes forever.

2.) Do not put your bioware e-mail, your ubisoft email, your Xboxlive email, your whatever e-mail.  Only put the e-mail address that is linked to the EA account.  This account could have been made years ago when Earth & Beyond was considered a new game.  Your account will last for a LONG TIME!

3.) If the e-mail of your xbox live is separate from your EA account, DO NOT PUT THE XBOX LIVE ACCOUNT!  EA ONLY!  I cannot emphasize this enough.

I hope this will help any future consumers in preventing a massive headache and phone call to tech support.  These rules may also apply to the PC version of the game, everything is controlled by the master EA account.

Excellent. Im stickying this.

I have to say, the only stuff that shows up in my redeemed acount is the dragon age DLC and I'm betting that's only because I went and got it via the xbox game itsself. I have a Cerberus code that says its already been redeemed and after following the directions for the Terminus armor that too is unavailable. Add to that EA's joke of customer service ( I sent 2 emails and STILL have not gotten a reply), your just lucky I decided to play the game and found it to be a very good and engaging experience or I'd have chucked the game into the fire and mailed you both the ashes.

Redeeming stuff though the XBOX LIVE system works! this stupid jumping through hoops is a joke. I don't want to join yet ANOTHER social network, and after this farce I certainly wont be buying another EA game. Find a real publisher for your games instead of going with this sorry bunch of morons. your games deserve so much more.

Just to clarify. My box was certainly on the internet but I still didn't get a create acct promt. I put the codes in on the proper screen here because that was my only choice. My GT was on my EA acct. The linked acct. showed on-screen when I input the codes, so there is some other factor.

My xbl email is different than EA or BW but that doesn't prevent Normandy Crash or Zaeed from coming through. The Cer. Net just won't open so I can't get the armor promos etc. that are listed on the Registered Promos Page on this site. I have asked EA care to manually put the promos on the acct as they did with DA. One thread suggested delete cache and change time back to 2005. said it worked for them. That got me a prompt but it went back to the ME server timing out/can't connect. It's a mystery. Sorry to bore everyone but every case is not the same, I need facts.

PS I cannot change my xbl email. I have tried but it cannot be done. Thanks for trying to help Malastare but I believe you are confusing the change contact email screens. That email is the same as my EA already. It makes no difference. Tried to email MS xbl care but it wouldn't accept the ticket last night. I'll try again today.

How do I find out which EA account I'm logged in through? It just connected me, never asked me for my account information or anything. I logged in through mirror's edge a loooong time ago, but I have absolutely no clue as to which email/account I used back then.

EDIT: Okay, I got it. Found out which email it was and logged in. Now is there any way to combine multiple EA accounts, or have I lost the blood dragon armor forever?

Ok I've got a question cause I think my roommate and I have both cause one of us too lose out on the goodies. We both have a gamer tag on the 360 we both have an EA account. But only one of us has access to the DLC and Prebook addons. Is there no way for us both to have them?

What is funny is with the PS3 we share the DLC even with 2 diffrent PSN and EA accounts why can't we do the same for XBox 360 and Mass Effect 2?
