Does this mean I am connected to my gamertag from the website...... I can pull up list on this website and it shows the ea games I have played and the characters I have created.

Thanks for the help, just one thing, on the 360 In-Game after i choose my EA account (which at the moment does not have a gamertag attached) I can enter the code In-Game and thats it? I don't have to go back to the EA site?

You can enter the code in-game, once you choose an EA account to link the gamertag to that account will be connected.  When you go on the internet and click on redeemo codes, it will say (your email) is linked to (your gamertag).

From that point any future codes should be input through the masseffect.com website under redeem codes.

In order to verify that everything is connected and working properly, go to the masseffect.com website.  Click on redeem codes.

There should be text that looks like this:

Email Address: (youremail)@hotmail.com | Switch Accounts

Xbox Gamertag(s): (yourgamertag)

PSN Name(s):
None

If it's not linking go to the redeem code page on masseffect.com and click on "Switch Accounts" see if you can sign in under the appropriate nick and check if they are linked together.

You entered your EA account in-game through Mass Effect 2?  If the gamertag is still not linked up make sure that your tag is not already linked up to an old EA account.  Otherwise it won't show up like you said, retry signing in through the ME 2 game and then go to the redeem code page to see if it's linked.

All the hoops that EA is making people jump through for this is ****ing ridiculous. I had totally forgotten that I'd made two separate EA accounts, one I created for the sole reason of being able to play BF1943 and the other was for the Battlefield Heroes beta that I could never get to work. Fast-forward to Tuesday, I get my pre-order copy of Mass Effect 2 home and find that instead of XBL redemption codes I have to use an EA proprietary code system. Okay, fine, I follow the directions on the redemption cards. Set up an account here. Never once does it state that the email you use for this account is tied directly to your EA account. It's just dumb luck that I picked this email account instead of my primary email account. And now, because EA couldn't get their **** together I've apparently lost the codes to not only my pre-order bonus but also my collector's edition bonus armor. Well isn't that just grand. If this is how EA is going to run things, I'm going to avoid purchasing games that use this **** system they've set up.

I got through via chat and Gavin sorted out my account issues so I have the Cerberus Network enabled, Normandy crashsite, Terminus Armor, etc. So a very big thank you to Gavin for that. It takes a while for him to do, because he has to do it all manually.

Additional links I've looked up for gamertags and EA accounts:

forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/600/366188.page#3582699

www.achieve360points.com/forums/showthread.php

Go to this website to log into your EA account and find out which gamertag is linked to your EA account.

profile.ea.com/login.do

Once you do that, next to the login button click on the Welcome (Yourname) and click on My Account.

Look under game personas and see if any of the accounts there are linked to your XBOX LIVE GAMERTAG.  If your gamertag is not there it is not linked.

Go to this link to try to link your XBL gamertag to your profile:

account.ea.com/reg/xbl/gamertag-howto.jsp

Hopefully this will help.

Hi everyone,

This is a tutorial for those who have had headaches linking your accounts in order to access Mass Effect 2 downloadable content.

============================

Step One:

Your bioware social account and your EA account are NOT the same thing!  The EA account is a master account that goes across all EA games, similar to an ubi account.  Anytime you make a purchase, want DLC, or will do anything involving an EA game.  This account is the one you go to for EVERYTHING!

profile.ea.com/login.do

Your account must be linked to an XBOX-LIVE account, so that means that EA and XBOX Live must be linked together.

Step Two:

The most RELIABLE way to link your accounts is to go into your Mass Effect 2 game.  When the game asks you for the Cereberes Network Card information, signing in through your ME2 game assures you with 100% accuracy that you will link to the proper account.  Enter your Cerberes Redemption code and link your account via your e-mail.

Example:
(youremail)@hotmail.com

Make sure that this e-mail address is the same one as your EA account!  Do not put your bioware e-mail, do not put your family e-mail, put the e-mail that is linked to your EA account ONLY!  It is not recommended to share an e-mail address with other users, the reasons are self explanatory.

Step Three:

Once you have linked your Xbox Live account to your EA account, you can go on your PC terminal and access your bioware social page.  Log in with your EA account and you will see that the webpage will display (youremail)@hotmail.com linked to Mass Effect 2.

With the confirmation that your account is linked you can now proceed to enter your redeem codes for Terminus Armor, Collector's Armor, Inferno armor and so on.

Step Four:

Upon going back into your Mass Effect 2 game you will see that the downloadable content button may flash briefly and when you go into extras you will see the new content you activated.  You can now download the content to your Xbox 360.  HOWEVER!  Please note you may need to restart Mass Effect 2 or will have to play in-game for a few minutes in order for the content to be recognized.  Sometimes it's immediate, and sometimes it lags a little bit, just be patient.

Step Five:

If your code does not work, then you must contact EA technical support, but be glad it wasn't due to your error that it didn't work.

============================

DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING:

1.) It is not recommended to redeem your codes before booting up Mass Effect 2.  If something goes wrong with the linking of your account through Mass Effect 2, you will lose those codes forever.

2.) Do not put your bioware e-mail, your ubisoft email, your Xboxlive email, your whatever e-mail.  Only put the e-mail address that is linked to the EA account.  This account could have been made years ago when Earth & Beyond was considered a new game.  Your account will last for a LONG TIME!

3.) If the e-mail of your xbox live is separate from your EA account, DO NOT PUT THE XBOX LIVE ACCOUNT!  EA ONLY!  I cannot emphasize this enough.

I hope this will help any future consumers in preventing a massive headache and phone call to tech support.  These rules may also apply to the PC version of the game, everything is controlled by the master EA account.
================================================

Recovering potentially lost DLC (Only applies to people who created a new account without realizing it)

Thanks to TheLambofDeth, here is a solution.  -Posted by Vasilii Zaytsev

Here's what happend to me and how I was able to fix it.

I registered on EA/Bioware's site with my current email and
redeemed all of my codes. I was unable to link my Gamertag to my new
account because I already linked it to an email I don't have anymore.

It looked like I just screwed my self out of all my DLC. But there's a way to get around it!

Create a new Live account (Silver is fine) and when you login use
the EA account you redeemed your DLC with. You can use DLC on any
profile so just dl and then use your normal profile.

I see a lot of others the same problem I did so I hope this helps.

1. Create a new gamertag

2. Link it to the EA account that has the DLC

3. Log into the new gamertag and download everything

4. Sign out of the gamertag

5. Sign into our original gamertag

6. Load up ME2 where all the DLC should be

Wow and then I get this when I try to link from EA

Sorry, we can't find information about that Xbox LIVE Gamertag.

Before you can link your Xbox LIVE Gamertag to your EA Master Account, you need to log in to any online EA game with your Xbox or Xbox 360. Once that is done, check your email inbox at the address you used to sign up for your Xbox LIVE Gamertag for an email from us describing what you need to do to link up your accounts.

Keep in mind, this email may not appear immediately, so be patient. Note, you can always come back to this page to re-trigger the email in case you missed it.

Unfortunately if you're getting an HTML error, that's on EA's end and is out of the hands of the user. Sorry I can't be much more help beyond what I've already provided. If you're trying to link 2 accounts, that's beyond my knowledge. I'm not EA tech support or Microsoft Tech support so there's not much else I can do for you.

Traceman try to go into your account to change the settings or find the page that let's you link the gamertag to your Xbox, that's about all I can think of doing.

The detailed account linking is great, but it doesn't work for me.  EA sucks the big one!  I'm extremely displeased with this entire setup.  A simple setup of inputing your DLC code in game would work seamlessly and still protect EA's income.  Who's behind this debacle?  Xbox publishers have been providing DLC for free and for a fee with no problems for years.  EA has found a way to screw up a system that works fine.Posted Image
