I'm going to max out primal and elemental both. Initial tryouts have got exceedingly well, I wasn't sure such an offense based style would work... But it does. Like in DAO, I'm versed in all 4 primary elemental styles of DAO (lightning, fire, ice, earth). I'm mostly foregoing my second specialization, I'll put maybe a point or 2 once I have nothing left. Main specialization that I will be investing heavily in will be spirit healer. So I'll have a healing style plus pure elemental. Main advantage is ludicrous crowd control, I can drop a tempest and a firestorm at the same time, zap entire crowd with chain lightning, freeze entire groups, an I have plenty of primers for cross class combos and detonators which means I work well with my party.

I searched around, and it seems just about no one has ever done this build before. Is it really that unusual to do both? And no, I'm not a noob who doesn't know what I'm doing. I've made many mages and many build on many playthroughs, this is my first time doing a primal-elemental combination. Which is, again, working a lot better than even I expected.

Well, damage is King in DA2...

But please report back on how it went. Interested minds want to know.

Gave this a go after reading this and it was loads of fun!

I went a different way because I took force mage as my specialisation, and only took the health bonus of blood mage.

Was able to set up lots of combos pulling groups into one spot, or destroy whole spawns with gravity then tempest and firestorm. Then lots of detonations with either chain lighting or fist of the maker.

Didn't even bother taking Anders in my party, used Fenris (staggers and brittle detonation), Isabelle (multiple disorient) and Merrill (maxed walking bomb), and by act 3 it was a breeze.

OP, thanks for the idea it was definitely one of my most enjoyable playthroughs.
