Do you have a link? Level 27 seems oddly specific for that, so if he shared any more detail I'd like to know more...

It'd be disappointing if they keep adding skills in future DLC like Jaws did, but don't actually let you earn levels to put points in to them.

From Twitter:

@user

Is possible to increase the level cap in DAI? I want to complete my abilities trees. Please!

Mike Laidlaw@Mike_Laidlaw

I believe the current cap is as high as numerous systems can support without major overhauls.

Well, what if you want to use some of the highest abilities from different trees within the 8 abilities that you can choose per character.  That's where I am with a few of mine.  I won't pretend to understand what he's talking about with the systems, that's all above my head, but I've always been the type to level my characters to the max.  Just how I love to play.

The leveling numbers increase in geometric fashion, and a poorly thought-out scheme will run into a brick wall at some odd point for users, who can't see the working math behind the scenes.

For those of us who don't understand programming, in layman's terms, what is happening that would cause problems with more leveling?  What goes into it beyond the character's stats going up a bit and adding points to the skill tree?

If the numbers increase, for example, exponentially across level ups, then unless proper ways to handle them and all the possible incidental calculations are in place, they will eventually overflow the containers allocated for them, or the math required to calculate related things will break.  It's hard to believe that this crap still happens in an age of high-precision floating-point hardware math capabilities across the spectrum of computing devices, but it does.

I don't know specifically where the brick wall is, since I didn't work on this game.  Clearly, it's there, though.  They've said just about as much.
