DAI Community,

I have played this game since launch last year however when I play I hoard everything and always have issues with no more room and I'm looking at a way to simplify my game and loot gathering methods.

I have tried the "old google" search method and haven't found anything relating to the key stats to focus on either per class or for each character this way when looting I will only take gear that will improve me and my crew.

So ideally I need;

  • Warrior - Strength, Cunning, Willpower & Constitution
  • Mage - Magic, Cunning, Willpower & Constitution
  • Rogue - Dexterity, Cunning, Willpower & Constitution

Or, if the recommended stats are different per character then list then that way instead. I'm really looking forward to getting more in depth with DAI and the DLC I just need a little help in getting it going again.

Regards

Unlike in DAO, you really have no control over how any of your companions or inquisitor allocate their attribute points.  You can get abilities that unlock cunning or strength  or willpower  (etc) on picking them.  If there is a class you are interested in you should look more into their specific abilities rather than attributes.  I feel like as you start out having a couple of outright abilities is more helpful, then as soon as you can get some helpful passives - like flashpoint for mages or easy to miss for rogues. For warriors look at abilities that generate guard on hit.

Also, once you get to Skyhold, you will get a storage chest (provided you have downloaded all of the patches).  If that is still a problem you can use Inquisition perks to carry more weight, but I find it is not necessary.  Sell any extra stuff that is a common item with a gray background if you are not using it.  If you find a blue rare item or a purple unique item, equip it if it better than what you are currently using.  You are going to have to evaluate though if the damage per second is worth swapping out if it lowers other stats though.  Keep in mind that in terms of weapons and armor, most everything you craft will be better than anything you find.

You can't allocate stats when you level up anymore, so the best thing you can do is focus on crafting stats depending on class with armor.

Warrior: Strength for DPS and Attack or  Constitution for Tanking.

Mage: Willpower for Attack and Magic Defense.

Rouge: Dexterity and Cunning.

You should read this post.

It will help you really understand what stats are needed, important and how to min/max each class for max efficiency. Hope that helps.

if you just want the TL;DR version , then here ya go.

Crafting Priority:
3% Flanking Dmg > 1.75% Attack > 3% Armor Pen > 1.75% Crit Chance = 1.75 Dexterity (rogue) >1.75 Willpower > 1.75 Magic (mage) = 1.75 Strength (warrior) > > 1.75 Cunning > 3% Crit Dmg > 3% Barrier Dmg > 3% Guard Dmg

Gear Equivalents:
0.67% Flanking Dmg
1% Attack (benchmark)
2% Armor Pen
1.6% Crit Chance
1.5 Dexterity
2 Willpower/Strength/Magic
3.2 Cunning
7% Crit Dmg[/spoiler]
