Thought I'd put together a thread where people could ask questions that they think they should know the answer to, but upon thinking about it, they don't.

I do this because a handful of things popped into my head yesterday & I realised that I didn't know them, so here they are:

1: when you get weakened by multiple sources, does the effect stack?

2: just how much stronger do enemies get when a player enters the fade?

3: how do you cancel attack animations?

Thanks

If I think of anymore I'll the thread, but please, feel free to ask your own questions too, someone'll know the answer.

To 1: I don't think it does, and I don't think I've ever noticed my damage output dropping like 3-4 weaken effects ought to imply.

To 3: Hit the sprint button right after you see the damage numbers pop up from your attack. In my experience, this varies between weapon types, and each one requires a certain cadence to get the hang of it. Be aware that latency and lag may play a factor in it.

A couple of notes about attack animation cancelling that I've noticed:

- I've never been able to successfully cancel bow auto-attacks.

- With staff attacks, you can typically cancel once the bolt leaves the staff instead of waiting for the bolt to land.

- It might be a placebo effect for me, but I find that using audio cues helps a lot. For instance, when you swing a two-hand weapon the game plays the generic "whoosh* weapon swing effect. If your attack connects with a target, you get that sort of... wet crunch/splat noise. That's your cue to immediately cancel the animation.

Their lvl increases by 1, but I don't know what that means either

Abilities Shieldwall, and Block and Slash also cancel

More questions

1: the attack and armor of nightmare enemies

2: Elemental dmg calculation on non mage characters

3: How do you spawnpoint camp?

4: Other than shocked+weakness=sleep. Can you transmute other conditions?

5: Enemies vulnerable to stagger upgrades

What's the fastest way to farm mp gold? Is there any map that's proven to be the fastest or have more gold then others from a time value standpoint? Better to run a fast threatening or perilous or Is nightmares increase per pot/chest worth the extra time it takes?

If you let someone bleed out, does it cost then one of 3 revives?

Thanks for that tip on action cancelling, just been trying it out, but not sure if I'll stick with it as I lost many a PS3 controller to the left stick buggering up & don't realy want to do the same with PS4.

1: to find out the AC of nightmare, or any enemies, if you find yourself in the fade, hovering over them will give you the same readout as entering tactical camera in SP.

3: if you spot where the enemy spawns from & stand in that location it classes as spawnpoint camping (if I'm correct)

Hope that helps in some way. :)

Yes.  As long as someone drops it costs them one of their three.

Counts as one of their deaths no matter what.  Now not sure about getting yourself up with HoK after your death.  I have died and revived myself before thanks to poison clouds stacking or wall of fire but can't recall dying enough in those matches to see if those counted or not.

Edit to add, One time I did manage to pick myself up that way 4 additional times after I went to the fade.  Died with a big swarm of stuff around me for the last time, off to the fade but managed to get poison cloud off right before I died.  Got back up, before I could move something hit me taking away what little health I had left and back to the fade.  Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Counts as one of their deaths no matter what.  Now not sure about getting yourself up with HoK after your death.  I have had mixed results.  I have died and revived myself before thanks to poison clouds stacking or wall of fire but can't recall dying enough in those matches to see if those counted or not.

It seems self revival now counts towards your three.

Can be easily seen using the necro + spirit mark, but ive also encountered this with elementalist.

Correct. On the dragon map for example, there are up to 4 different spawn points depending on which room you are in.  If you manage to stay alive while separated, you can stop the seemingly endless waves of mobs if you camp someone at the right place.

Okay, I've been wondering about this one: do staves apply a damage increase to spells of the same type? In the older DA games I recall lightning staves increasing the strength of lightning spells. Did this hold over to DA:IMP?

Good thread.

Question: In SP, your damage and the damage you take is affected by the level difference between you and the enemy. Is this true for MP? So a Level 1 character will have their damage and the damage they take penalized against higher level enemies? This would explain one reason why enemy level matters, and yes, why the game has "suggested" character level requirements for different difficulties. I'm sure the level difference is capped, I think in SP it is capped at +/- 3 levels, but is this even in MP?

Your PS4 controller will probably be fine. I've been animation cancelling using the sprint button since probably only a month or two after the game came out... so, been doing it a loooong time now... and my controllers are fine. My very original controller got replaced because the R2 button was getting loose and unresponsive, but otherwise the sticks are fine.

5: Enemies vulnerable to stagger upgrades

I never saw the stagger on hit rings work on any enemies, at least staff auto attack wise (and almost all damage spells stagger anyway, so what's the point?)

When you enter the fade(die) you can hover you own body and check that.

Either fade, or I believe there is a topic around here with base hp, so from there you can just add in any item bonuses and your con.

Once I got stagger in a bow, put some stagger upgrade and 2 stagger rings. Some mobs are affected. But it doesn't worth you time. Take a heal on kill, it's better.

If you're willing to believe me, I don't spend much time in the fade, I'm usually among the last to fall.

I know a nightmare RT Knight has about 118 armor, RT Horror 90ish and RT Archer 50ish

That's about it

Oh no it totally works. They flip backwards letting you do flanking dmg too

I know it works on basic enemies, warrior, archer, mage, hyena/wolf also Terror demons. Doesn't seem to work on RT Horrors

I never use my rings for it but it works very well for my reaver and dagger users

Maybe it just doesn't work with staff attacks? I had a purple ring, put it on, and burned down several foot soldiers with it, not one of them even flinched.

1. When you use the Data Migration, to move your unlocks from last gen to current gen, do you get to keep your progress on the last gen console or do you have to start over from scratch?

I ask because I want to carry over my progress to Xbone before the end of summer, but want to make sure I can still play with my friends on 360 with all my unlocks available.

FAQ on dragonage.com says you can continue to make progress on old console, but does not state that progress is retained from prior to data migration. Also does not state official end date to data migration, just says it will be available for "this summer." Anyone used this yet who can give details? Anyone know the date when the Great Data Migration will end? I posted this elsewhere, but did not get a definitive answer.

2. Also what does Nug Loaf taste like?

Based on a codex entry, eating nug is like a cross between pork and hare. In my experience rabbit actually tastes a lot like chicken. So I imagine any meat loaf made from a combination of pork and chicken would be a fairly accurate representation.

That is actually an interesting question. Necro + spirit mark always counts.

Now, about heal on kill, I am quite sure it didn't always get counted before. I've had matches with the avvar where LW revived me a few times and then if I went down again, I could be revived again.

However! I am not sure if the devs changed something recently but now the self revives seem to count. The other day I played the Avvar again and I think I self revived three times. Anyway, for sure I haven't gone and been revived the whole match, and then one wave 5 I die and go immediately to the fade... oh the disappointment. Same for elementalist.

If they really changed it, this would be total crap. Self revives are nice when they don't count but otherwise (except on the necro with her spirit mark) if they count, they totally suck because if you get revived with little health and are in the middle of lots of enemies (or dragon fire) the chances of you dying again are very high. That way you can accidentally waste your whole three revivals for one bad moment in the match.

On animation canceling, what is the goal, even? Are people doing it after every basic attack, or only after the end of the chain to start the next chain sooner?

4: Other than shocked+weakness=sleep. Can you transmute other conditions?

Yes, it would appear so. I haven't done it myself, but there is a thread on the subject:

Edit: Here is another. I know there is an even better one somewhere: http://forum.bioware...-secret-combos/
