I solo only on 30 fps now. It may look ugly and it somewhat hurts on my eyes, when playing too long, but it gets the job done.

I have done N2 III with the Katana, DR IV, CM IV and grenande capacity. It didn´t many attempts to complete it, iirc.

Yep, those ravagers and heat seeking warp balls are loads of fun. And when I say fun I mean no fun at all...

Having looked at clusum's video, I think I gotta move every so often to the other side of the map, to prevent en masse spawns that cut off both my way forward and backward and are too big to deal with in a short amount of time. Problem is, he is from another planet, and has some pheromones that repel warp balls and Marauder's Phaeston acting like a hitscan weapon.

Nah, if I take away from Carnage or Grenades I lose too much offensive power, and the Katana is nothing to write home about. I also want Adrenaline Rush for DR and cancelling DoT effects. And no way am I running a 66606 build on a Soldier.

i m pretty sure u can be better without carnage as it doesnt mesh well with AR anyway. (btw, does ar boost nade damage ?)

Faster solo on gold was carnage less, and he was far from speeding things up... i never drop enoughh nades, with this guy and recendtly failed a redo on gold.

my laptop is self capped at 30. Aw used to cap it at 30 for solo and it was a net gain for kiting. Not sure what he does now.

Edit: ^ well Aw cap at 30 :D

AR only boosts weapon damage.  :(

I feel empathy for you OP but don´t blame frame rate instead of people who have made those evil challenges. :D I´ve been struggling a lot with finishing all drell on gold but just can´t do one against Collectors on Goddess with 5 WS. I have given up for it and have faced the truth that I can´t handle it. One more reason for me to hate collectors. Just don´t lose your sanity for a challenge so keep trying or move on.

Reading the posts by several of the godlike players saying that some things are too hard makes me feel like there's no hope at all for the likes of me :P

I typically spam Katana Disruptor shot, Carnage and grenade for TB + FE and I cycle around the closed half of the map (stopping for damage dealing in the vicinity of the ammo boxes, except the one in the open at the bottom of the stairs.) Occasionally I try to go to the other side of the map to prevent being encircled by new spawns, but the Marauders, Ravagers and the boss units almost always cost me something in terms of consumables on the trip back.

EDIT: Next thing I was thinking of trying is slapping an Adrenaline Mod on and going balls to the wall with only 4 levels of Fitness. :D

AR just siiting here for Dot and shield recharge ?

DO u consistently get FE from carnage + nade on shield ?

the 6+1 TB is only 770 damage, so less than a katana shot but aoe, and double against shield. Carnage is only not so bad agains armor but still quite an expensive couldown .

Anyway, i feel your pain, watching vids from top soloers (category in which you could sit) i dont get where the difference is made most of the time :D

As long as one enabled 32x CSAA and 8x SGSSAA in nvidia inspector, I don't think there's need to cap framerates (unless you've got mythical hardware).

My PC can't handle 120. Gets up to 90 at best.

I've played on quite a bunch of 120 FPS hosts. I've hardly ever noticed any difference in terms of my survival. It's probably due to me not giving a **** about dropping and it being hard to drop more than I usually do

However, I have noticed that it becomes a lot harder to shoot enemies on these hosts sometimes. Probably because that's all I'm usually concerned with XD

All the enemies animations become sped up and, a lot of times, become extremely weird. This was especially true on FTL's super host, where I spent the entirety of wave 2 trying to shoot a single nemesis with my harrier. I'm not kidding you, the entire wave 2 was spent doing just that. I had to learn my lesson and avoid nemesis for the rest of the game... But at least I got *that* one!

My PC is even more powerful now, switched my two GTX 980 for two GTX 980 Ti. I just ignore Nemesis now unless I have a grenade in my hand.

Yeah, recently dropped into an ongoing game on FTFTL's host and acquainted myself with the floor for about half a wave before I realized just where I was and why the enemies were on steroids. It requires a bit of adaptation to survive there.

Yeah I guess if you have some CC capabilities then you might still go for them, but otherwise... Good luck XD

Two titan X's are more than capable of 144@4096 x 2160, secondly running 32 quad AA and 8x post process AA is not a thing, and never will be under DX9 to begin with so facetious post is not even facetious, the game is already blurry enough as it is unless you turn film grain off; which as a Krogan/Geth you have to order to play hazard Dagger or White and be able to even see the screen.

Yeah, 8x SGSSAA is still quite demanding though, also you can enable HBAO+ for ME3 in nvinspector, another framerate killer, this should limit the framerate to a modest range (<100 FPS) on mainstream hardware,.

As for twin Titans, we have tools like GeDoSaTo that can force the game to run at 8K or more (as long as it doesn't crash), should be interesting to test the result, i guess adding some 4K texture mods helps, too. :D

I'm too lazy to be bothered finding out how to lower the rate. All I do is setting FoV to 90 and give the Asari red skin colour. I tried to make a solo plat work with my melee shadow once, but by wave three I calculated it'd be more than 1.5 hours to complete and then I went pugging again.

how does that work?

The game thinks in frames. Enemies have a set number of frames from when they detect a player in their line of sight to when they start attacking, and the more frames that are calculated per second, the quicker they will start attacking a player, since those frames are resolved faster.

For example, if it takes an enemy 6 frames to start shooting at you and you're playing at 30FPS, that's 1/5th of a second. At 60FPS, that same 6 frames is 1/10th of a second, and so on. Additionally, higher FPS allows enemies to track moving players more effectively since it's running significantly more aim calculations per second.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. But that's how I remember it working.

Btw, you can change the "interplocspeed" variable in coalesced (I believe the default is 20) to a lower value and have the enemies be even more mean.

Scales with the difficulty.

^^^^This will give you a little more information on frame rate, detection, and enemy accuracy. There is also a more expansive thread by Caratinoid on the overall effects of framerate on difficulty which goes more into it and discussed effects of shield recharge etc, below:
