and not just Lyrium, but other magical concoctions a person in Thedas might ingest while pregnant.

This thought occurred to me after I made my first female warrior inquisitor become a Templar. Templars take a draft of Lyrium everyday in order to gain/maintain their magical abilities. Suffice to say what happens to a baby if a female templar continues to take her daily draft while pregnant? Maybe she isn't aware of the pregnancy until it begins to show.

Then there is the idea of Female Ravagers who might take the rite and drank Dragon's blood while pregnant though early in the pregnancy.

Tempest are always drinking vials of elemental power while fighting, what might be the effects on a child born under these effects.

Maybe there some be some investigation into such things, it's fun to think such a child might be born more gifted or unique in a positive way because of some of these things.

There seems to be a disproportionate number of mages who had templars as parents.

Really? I'm drawing a blank for some reason. All I can think of is Thrask.

Actually no. Tempests break the bottles open on their armour, coating themselves in whatever alchemical solution is desired. They don't drink them.

I don't think the baby of a Reaver would have anything bad, in fact, I think it would inherit the mother's skills, Therins still having something on their blood after 400 years, and the only thing wrong with some of them is being stupid and unable to win a fight for themselves and I don't blame dragon blood for that. Anyway, probably would be better if the mother is the one of the special skills.

There's also Rhys, Wynne's son.

I'm not sure two mages with Templar dads constitutes a pattern, though.

No, they drink them. They are addicted to lyrium. Which is how the Chantry has controlled them in the past.

Just ask my templar Inquisitor and how he and Cullen discuss the addictive nature of Lyrium.

could it still have some kind of effect on a fetus if said mixture is absorbed through skin? this is all conjecture meant to provoke some discussion on what boons or drawbacks might happen during pregnancy.

I don't think it gets absorbed, since you have to coat your armour in a solution that stops you from catching fire. I doubt it could get that deep.

No, listen to the trainer and Sera about it. They smash to magic on their clothes and armor.
