Can you beat the Harvester w/o unlocking 'Heavy Hitter?'

I've had the unusual luck of getting all of my accounts Achievements reset, due to an odd error with EA servers that led to tech support needing to recreate my account from the ground up.  For a while I was grinding away with Mass Effect, but I've decided to come back to Dragon Age, and one of the problem's I'm curious about is this: Can you think of a way to beat the Harvester on Hard difficulty with a brand new 20th level character and the equipment you get, 'out of the box,' in the Golems of Amgarrak module?  The most common way I've done the quest before was by setting up a support and damage mage, and respeccing Jerrik into an Accuracy based archer.  The only concern of course is that he'll do 250 damage and unlock that particular achievement before I want it unlocked.

I know this is an odd challenge, but it comes down to two things: First, I want to be the one to trigger the screenshot that unlocks the achievement, just as a thing.  Secondly, I really do want to start a game as a human noble with the Reaper's Cudgel available from the start.  Hence my dilemma, self imposed I admit.  Can it be done, or is it too likely that a critical hit would occur with Jerrik that would just blow that achievement out of the water?  I was thinking that rapid shot would be an interesting way to cancel out the critical hit concern, but I'm uncertain if those modal abilities are mutually exclusive in a non-modded game or not.

Try an Arcane Warrior maybe. They basically nullify damage, even at earlier levels.

I think I could do it, but I haven't tried it. I forgot what I got the achievement on... Reaper's Cudgel is sweet though. Your human noble won't be able to use it from the start. The Origins version is a dragonbone 32 STR weapon. The true value is selling it asap... and you'll get over 300 gold for it. From there, you can comfortably tweak any character you want.

Well, apologies as I didn't reply to this A LONG TIME AGO.  I did actually beat the Harvester on Hard Difficulty (I got scared of Nightmare) by running Jerrik as a respecced Rogue (Ranger / Legionairre Scout) with Master Ranger & Mark of the Legion, Master Archer, & Accuracy.  Did not use or select Arrow of Slaying and my damage never topped 190 I believe.  So, whew.  Thanks for your reply Guest_Streetmagic_*; again, I"m sorry I didn't respond sooner.  :(
