Don't worry man as and when you hit Perilous and above, use them then... Most players who grind have tons of materials due to 100s of hours of gameplay. Make sure that you save up all of the cotton based materials as they are essential later on in game... (Lustrous/Imperial)
Most of the higher players see the calls as nothing since they grind out around 50-150k per week in gold... Dismantle 98% of the items that are then dropped from chests and hey presto, too many materials ![]()

I get the grind but a lot of new and how to say, less dedicated, players don't have that. My prestige is like 500 right now which isn't a brag but I'm guessing it is a top 10% of all players number and I am scraping this weekend.

Thats not his point. His point is that for a lot of people dragon calls are ****** expensive. I've got 255 of a lot of resources, i don't give 2 shits about crafting and wasting a ton of dragon calls. But if you don't have all the top tier armour yet and you have to spend your materials on either the katari arishok armour of a dragon call for a threatning run, which doesn't really give you a chance for good loot anyway, most will save for the higher armour.
If theres a dragon challenge, there should be dragon chests in the store.

Okaaaaay... but it's not about it. It's about this weekend challenge and players like me who can't craft tons of dragon calls and don't feel comfortable playing (especially FC) above threatening.
But on topic. I could barely craft 4 calls myself and had to sacrifice better armor I was planning to craft... So I would really appreciate if next time dragon challenge rolls, they think (even if it's a bit) about players like me, who can't craft tons of calls.

I totally agree with you. Lots of us are swimming in resources but it's really unfair to a large part of the player base that are not. And it's an oversight on their part, last times when there was a dragon challenge, there were dragon calls in the store. Luke, pls. ![]()

to be honest I found I can solo fc frost in 15 mins on threatening pretty much all the time and you get more xp from doing it than you do from the other maps, I happily host public games and even slow down n do treasure rooms when others join if they want to use a call that's fine by me but I wont be wasting them.
and so far I hosted over 100 games since the weekend event started and about half of them were no dragon games (all fc frost threatening) the first 10 games I used a call just to get the quest done but after that I didn't bother ![]()

Lol I solo played Perilous with Reaver, 2 guys joined at Rd 3, both pretended like they never had a call and one ran to the door and then sprinted back to see if I'd flinch... I was like meh f u bro. They both quit the game as Rd 4 started and then I went on to be executed by the Templar Commander ![]()

I wonder if they would, say, add a Dragon Call to the Commendation/Victory Chests so newer players can get a small but steady supply of them.

I actually once used call before host, because we did quite a few smooth dragon runs and since it was my last one for a challenge... I wanted to say thank you this way.
The way host run around gong... It made me feel like I did something strange. I didn't, did I?

I don't know about strange. I don't expect the host to spend a call every single game, and I will spend one on the second game in the same lobby unless I spent one on the first game.

I don't understand why any player with many resources wouldn't use a DC. Personally I have no problem doing it. I think I used about 15 yesterday. Anything I can do to help encourage new players or help them acquire good gear, I'm happy to do. I want the player base to grow, not be discouraged and dwindle.

Yeah I ring them voluntarily every NM run I can, but on Perilous I sometimes want to see if the others will respond at times...
There's always the few lobbies where everyone fumbles around in their pocket dodging the tab and then someone runs back and whoops that gong ![]()
I do when I have, but won't craft them if I am joining a pug that happens to be on FC,
The most epic way to ring the gong is while jumping, you float in the air as you strike !!

help a bunch for players without massive resources.
Say a bunch of new players just started this week, they like MP, they see the challenge for the weekend...how are they supposed to complete the challenge -- and here is the sick part-- since dragons are worth 2 on routine? Players with the least resources actually have to spend more resources to complete the challenge.

Well there are a lot of people that would share dissatisfaction with the dragon call economics. Personally, I would have preferred there was no crafting of calls and FC was pretty much dragon exclusive for zone 5. The special items could have dropped from chests with higher rate on higher difficulty. As it is, it is basically just added cost for chance at the items.
I also wasn't enthused about blowing a bunch of mats to solo dragons to get my last unique dragon weapon when they were all added to the regular chest pool the next week. And I managed to get several duplicates of all of them in short order.

I'm super new (zero promotions) so I obviously don't have the mats to make a DC. Very frustrating when no one in the party has one and I can't make progress towards the challenge.
I finally have enough mats to craft my first armor, so obviously I can't waste the mats on a DC. Though of course now I'm paralyzed by indecision as to which armor to craft first.

Lots of people like playing on random and wind up on fc without a call. Host has first responsibility though, I agree.
It seems pretty obvious that this challenge is about getting players to find the new loot in perilous and above. That goal trumped accessability, I guess. Still, it woulda been nice to have a temporary dragon call chest available in the store or something. I have some extra resources and have been helping out a bit in threatening. Not so much in routine, though, 13 calls is a lot for me.

As people have mentioned, they need to just make a cheaper routine only version. (Or a separate routine and a threatening one).

Or make routine not cost a dragon call....

I'm on Xbox -- hit me up to play. I'll bring the dragon calls.
Edit to add: going for a swim now but will probably be on later.

To be fair, some players might not care about the challenge - i.e. if they are on the lower difficulties, they might think they can't recoup the material loss from the Commendation Chests.
In the past, we have the Dragon Chests whenever the challenges require the players to kill dragons. They are not the best deals, but they are tailored for players to jump into fighting dragons.
It is a bit strange that they permanently retired the chests *after* the influx of new players from trial version, though.
