I totally agree with you. Lots of us are swimming in resources but it's really unfair to a large part of the player base that are not. And it's an oversight on their part, last times when there was a dragon challenge, there were dragon calls in the store. Luke, pls. :P

Someone told me the Dev's said there would be no more DC chests in the store again... :(  Hope this is is not true, as I prefer to buy them when I can.

Lol I solo played Perilous with Reaver, 2 guys joined at Rd 3, both pretended like they never had a call and one ran to the door and then sprinted back to see if I'd flinch...  I was like meh f u bro.  They both quit the game as  Rd 4 started and then I went on to be executed by the Templar Commander :)

I play mostly Peri and NM now, have a good amount of mats, but not so much level 1 stuff anymore as I always craft armors and I have run a ton of Dragons since the DLC came out. I try to hit the gong first when pugging or one of my friends will, but lately there are more players in Peri and NM with no hours, no gear, and no calls. I don't mind helping new players some, but when I was lower promoted/geared I used my resources to craft DC's and used them as a thank you to the players who helped me.

It would also be nice if hitting the gong prompted you to craft a DC if you did not have one. Sometimes everyone runs out and this ensure even a newer player could have the option of crafting one if they had the mats. (Maybe limit materials used in this fashion to T1 or T2... and no cotton. lol)

Bioware made a mistake with the allocation of stars for the challenges. They really should have made the match points challenge worth 4 stars, as that was the one that many hit 4 stars last week. Instead, they made it a dragons points challenge--this really hurt new people. I have a secondary account and it was a struggle. I feel bad for those new to the game. Couple that with the fact there are no more dragon call chests, region locking and the ps3 player base was nearly completely killed off, I imagine lots of people found it difficult to complete. I'm not optimistic about a decent reward, either.

The problem is on Threatening they're not worth using. I know I don't have near enough promotions to do perilous, let alone nightmare. I've got 3 more dragons to kill to complete this weekends challenge. So far the dragon drops and the cost of fighting the dragon hasn't been worth it.

I've come this far so will finish it off but, it's a huge net loss in terms of resources.

They should drop from the large requistions chest as a blue item.

Only should have Dragon calls for Nightmare difficulty.

Don't worry man as and when you hit Perilous and above, use them then... Most players who grind have tons of materials due to 100s of hours of gameplay. Make sure that you save up all of the cotton based materials as they are essential later on in game... (Lustrous/Imperial)

Most of the higher players see the calls as nothing since they grind out around 50-150k per week in gold... Dismantle 98% of the items that are then dropped from chests and hey presto, too many materials :)

I don't play a ton, and just got back to damp this past week after a long time off and Dragon calls hurt only because of cloth cost. I don't know if im glitched or something, but I have several hundred in metal and leather, but can barely put together 10 cloth, and even when I do it's usually tier 3 cloth that I've been saving up for upgrades. Like I said I havnt played a ton only around 400 prestige or whatever but there's no reason to have 2-300 of several single metals and leathers and like no cloth.

do 30 threatening matches, salvage every rune below superb and all the junk armour upgrades and junk weapons you get from opening all the rooms (normal maps not fc) you should be able to buy around 20 large chests from that giving you a good chance at getting decent weapons and a tonne of junk to salvage then you can find yourself with a lot of mats and probably have those decent upgrades your looking for.

just don't be tempted to buy chests until all your chars are lvl 20, and you have a much higher chance of getting decent stuff out of them, also it pays to buy in batches rather than one every time you have the gold, normally I promote every char then play them all back to 20 before buying chests, that used to take forever but now I have better gear it takes only a few days over the weekend, sometimes I can promote more than once each weekend just depends on the amount of free time I have :)

still its all fun and good way to kill time if you've nothing better to do

I usually buy chests 10k gold at a time, I've gotten most every weapon obtainable by chest that I could want, the problem is I don't obtain staffs at a rate anywhere near that of other weapons. My most steady source of cloth honestly comes from armor upgrades which are somewhat regular compared to other class armor upgrades, it's just still not enough.

Here's what my most plentiful materials are of each class:
Metal- Iron 189, paragons luster 174
Leather- red Hart leather 183, August ram leather 151
Cloth- silk brocade 26, royal sea silk 16 (everything else under 10)

That's a big discrepancy

Make disciple staffs from the leather and metal, then salvage them to get cloth ... sometimes lucky and get high level cloth.

This issue would be solved if people used their voice, or there would be an icon next to their name indicating that they have Dragon's Call. I usually have one or two spares when entering a game. (there have been matches though where it dawned on me that I don't have any the second I entered a match. .__.)

As for getting fabric, salvage ALL runes that aren't masters/superbs. I have about 40 of each fabric at all times. 8)

That icon idea would just make leeching even worse imo. Its already bad enough ppl who are too weak for perilous would join and spam "come here" at the gong. Even happens on nightmare embarrassingly. It is like begging on the streets, those that spam at the gong have no shame.

If I was in a pug and someone spammed consistently at the gong I would just open the door to the zone to ****** them off.

Bloody hell there needs to be an option to disable banter/characters talking in DAIMP (sure you can do it in the settings but if affects the SP as well and I'm a lazy ass who can't be bothered to go into the menu and change it all the time). Everytime I hear "EVERYONE OVER HERE" my eye twitches so hard my eyeball jumps out and punches everyone infront of me. There have been one too many matches where you have two warriors and two rogues and a Katari stands infront of the mage door the zone and pings like no tomorrow.

I mean COME ON.

so true ^^

I only use one of my dragon calls if I am 1. in a party of friends and we want some dragon meat or 2. I really want to kill a dragon (for a challenge or whatever) and am sure that we will make it to zone 5

I don't use dragon calls 1. on threatening & routine and 2. if the pug team struggles hard on zone 3

Yea dude, I do the same. I just do not know what is going through their minds as they are doing that. Boggles my mind, everyone can craft one. If you want to fight the dragon, then use your call. Don't expect a hand out from others.

One time this guy kept spamming, I just keep jumping over and over by the door to zone 4. He finally caved in and used his call. Then he tried to kick me by putting a skull on me. I was so angry, when we got to the dragon at 25% health. Us 2 were only one still alive, I just died on purpose so we lost the fight.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I don't know why I never thought of that, I could have been racking up the cloth. Now to go make 50 cloth and make some Dragon calls which I will smash across the gong in your honor.

PC. All done now for all the good it did. Anyway can now say been there done that.

Simply put using the dragons call on anything less than nightmare probably is a complete waste of resources.

Knew that going in so no blame on anyone but myself.

I dont mind spending the gold or spending the resources. I will take turns with my buds on using em when we run. I will spend em when I cruise a lvl 1 through threatening to put some abilities for Perilous and so on.  but the crafting part is tedious and I wish I could at least click a box that says 5x? and have it use that spec to make 5   I wanna kill stuff and compare weapons and armor not slowly craft a dragon call

  one by tedious one

Playing this weekend with the mere mortals on threatening one realizes that these calls are expensive. About 1 in 3 matches doesn't have a call. On on 2 of the other 3 no one wants to be the person who burns a precious call so everyone sorta waits around. I know that for a lot of the perilous/heartbreaker players materials are meaningless but on the lower levels people are still scrimping by - right now I can build one call due to cloth -- to build armor and upgrades let alone a consumable call that cost more materials than most upgrades. Why don't the calls scale so that the materials costs decrease on Routine and Threatening ( especially since the rewards scale down) and make the dragon missions a bit more accessible to the less than übermensch players.

Well for me at least I have very little interest in calling dragons in Threatening because you can't get any meaningful items out of the dragon. I actually prefer just do the normal boss fight in that case and get a bit extra XP. Save your calls for Perilous. And don't worry about Nightmare because I have never been in a lobby where no one is willing to spend a call given we got to zone 3 at the very least.

I feel the same way, although I don't even use them on perilous all the time either. I have the achievements and automatically scrap dragon weapons now so sometimes it's worth getting the extra xp from doing the regular wave 5.

That said, this weekend I used Dragon Calls far more often to help the challenge along.

I don't like using em on threatening and I doubt I'll ever finish the dragon slaying challenge on lolroutine but I'm always happy to burn em up in Perilous. But like you for the weekend challenge I did dip into my pocket and used a handful to help the community along in threatening. Have plenty to spare so I was feeling generous, it ends now though the challenge is done. :P
