So much Potential, hopefully now that bioware has dropped old-gen support they can design a true expansion worth the 20$-30$.
They won't. I'm not sure why people keep expecting this.

Last gen limitations. I'm just wondering what else got cut because they needed to get the product working on PS3/360.
The most I expect from a new Inquisition DLC is that the possible Qunari DLC will add Keep mechanics of some sort as you battle them across Thedas. I'm also hoping the new game mode mentioned in the alleged survey also has something to do with this instead of a new difficulty.
However, ditching old gen might have been for the simple reason of bigger more complex maps (as Descent was all one zone with probably more complex/loaded surface area than any other map) and bigger/more complex battles (The dwarven guns for example may require performance/coding that can't be handled well on old gen).
Magic weapons? Cast by enemy mages on their own allied warriors? I don't remember that. When did this happen?
Shield bearers are designed to block projectiles fired at them, but the subject here is enemies that work together. I have never seen a shield bearer purposely move to defend one of its allies.
Again, this isn't about single enemies buffing themselves. Laidlaw tried making a point about an enemy buffing other enemies.
This is not an example of enemies buffing other enemies. This is a debuff on the party.
That's a... close example with the red templars. But this is more a case of turning one enemy into a new one. Still, doing this does at least replenish their life bar, so it could count. I'll give you that. But I think this is the only other example there is. So it's just mages casting barrier, and red templars turning others into different enemies.
1. Yes, magic weapons (elemental, fire or ice to be precise). Mages in Hinterlands do that very often, but not only them.
2. No, they deflect projectiles fired at them, or at targets standing behind them. In indoors fighting, they often don't even join the battle directly before attacked, instead they stand on the stairs or in the corridor, blocking you from reaching archers standing behind them. I had this happen often - especially when capturing keeps.
3. It's not single enemies buffing themselves. Rage/Despair/Pride demons, change all Wraiths standing near them to their respectable element. Without those elemental demons, Wraiths just shoot spirit missiles.
4. True, as I said, it's disputable.
One thing they're truly lacking, are cross-class combos (like your party does).
They should be doing that as well.
But it's not like they don't cooperate at all.
A lot of that stuff sounds amazing, and I'm looking forward to future games taking advantage of what current-gen systems are capable of (I play on a PS4).
However, I really detest the idea that gamers are somehow lazy or stupid for wanting something on PS3 or 360...I hate to break it to you, but a lot of people can't afford them. Not when they have other serious expenses and those things are hundreds of dollars, not to mention 60 bucks a pop for a new game (and yes, you can get them cheaper used, but not right away and not that much cheaper...10-20 dollars off at most for a long time, especially for a game that sells well).
So yes, obviously, I want the coolest game that technology can provide (and my PS4 can run), but I'm not gonna complain about people not getting the newest systems.
I know I will sound insensitive to PS3 or 360 gamers but the reality is that those platforms are becoming obsolete and it seems the time has come, where the new video games developers won't be able to keep supporting these old generation machines. It's like people who used to have only black and white tv's complaining because there were other people starting to watch movies and tv shows in color. The argument that game developers should keep supporting everybody can work only for a limited time. Then, like in any other type of business, if you don't have the money to upgrade, you won't be able to enjoy the same features of those who have more updated platforms. But I have to admit that I didn't eat all that guy Laidlaw's used as an excuse for so many things that were cuts. Remember this is the same guy who. with a straight face, assured gamers in an interview that DAI was developed on pc platform. Yeah, right!!
I'm sure it must have been a lot of things that played against them. One of them was probably, this horrendous new engine that seems only good for build very nice sceneries and for shooters games, also there is a chance that maybe the devs were all over the place with crazy ideas about what to implement for this game and an incompetent direction so, at some point, all those ideas that deves were already spending resources on, didn't really worked for their limited budget or they weren't able to implement them in time for launch. I don't think Bioware has incompetent developers but I strongly suspect they have a few people at the executive level that keep making very wrong decisions and they manage to get away with it, for some reason. I'm just glad that there are other fantasy games coming to the market that are doing it right for their customers. These other new games will push Bioware to improve on what they are doing or they will disappear if they keep promising grandiose things for their next games and delivering "just OK game after game" instead.
lets hope the next installment brings physics interaction with the environment, that includes destruction of course.
There is already some physics interaction, other than with crates/boxes/doors. I've noticed that bridges in some keeps can still be destroyed. I've also noticed that some ground cover, like the natural stone-step formation when you do the wolf quest in the Hinterlands, can be demolished if you hit them enough.
These just seem to be left over features from a more interactive tactics and environment based combat that seems to have been dropped by the developers somewhere during construction and testing. Seems a shame, so many of the features and hype around the development previews given prior to launch are missing or reduced to almost nothing.
But I have to admit that I didn't eat all that guy Laidlaw's used as an excuse for so many things that were cuts. Remember this is the same guy who. with a straight face, assured gamers in an interview that DAI was developed on pc platform. Yeah, right!!
He may not have been very forthcoming with reasons, but those that he did give were factors.
And he didn't lie when he said the game was developed ON the PC platform, it just wasn't developed first FOR the PC platform.
All game dev for consoles happens on PC platforms, console dev kits do not include programming support, they are merely debug units.
Weren't they all developed simultaneously on all platforms? I'm really not interested in a fight over this, but suffice it to say that if you're releasing a multi-platform game, catering to PC players first seems rather silly, especially considering less people will play on the PC. I say this as a primarily console-gamer who also plays on his laptop (that's how I played DA:O)...I get that PC is more powerful, but I seriously doubt they will go back to crap console ports (unless it's a PC game first)...and simultaneous development is NOT a port for the PC, it just means they have to take into account the console capabilities as they design for all systems. Which is a decision made early on.
ESTAQ99: I don't expect many games in the future to come out on last-gen stuff. I'm not saying developers aren't/shouldn't move forward, I'm just saying that it's nice the older consoles got the game because a lot of people can't afford the newest systems. Ideally, they'll be a little more affordable since people have had more time to save money and costs/deals may be more accommodating. I don't think there's any question that most gamers WANT to get new systems, but want doesn't mean they're able to.
