Is it asking too much to succeed at this without allying yourself with snakes? Meaning Anora, Vaughan or Crow assassins.

I made my search and followed people's advice. Mentioning either Caillan or the elves (even with proof) is shockingly ineffective.

Instead, I focused on Howe's prisoners and Loghain's poisoning of Arl Eamon. I also didn't forget to win the favor of every noble available. Don't even ask me, there isn't a single one I missed. Freeing the templar, the noble's son, yadda yadda.

And at the beginning, I had the Warden say "The Blight is the real threat, not Orlais".

All that still wasn't enough to beat the vote of two random guys.

Anora is not a snake. Not like Howe or the Crows at least.

That aside, talking to Bann Wulf in the Gnawed Noble.. rescue that other noble's son in Howe's torture chamber, rescue the Templar and talk to his sister in the Inn.

Pretty sure that's it.

Well...that's politics for ya.  Dealing with people you don't like comes with the territory.  Does it matter?  I mean either way this isn't going to be settled with a vote.

Just for future reference, I'd like to know... is it possible to trick Anora into lending you support and then make Alistair the sole king in the end?

Yep.

As for the first point, yes it's asking too much.

For you to win without Anora support you'll have to either free Vaughan or have the support of the Crows.

Yup.  (And you call her the snake?)

And you say Anora is the snake.

It's possible, though I did it on accident. I promised her the throne and let a hardened Alistair execute Loghain, and then everyone acted like, "That settles it! Alistair is the new king!" and Alistair ordered her to be sent to the tower, and the guards rushed to obey. I was surprised, but thought, "... Okay. I guess it's out of my hands now."

Ha, you got me there.

But this hardly proves her innocence, now does it?

Well what's she guilty of?  Not wanting to give up her throne?

I just don't see how that is the Warden's problem.

Hey, I already helped you escape from a dungeon. It's too bad you were expecting to get something more out of our meeting.

That alone hardly is enough reason to act against him/her.

Yeah, but what's she guilty of, except refusing to give up her own position?  Understand, the Warden is acting against her when he forces her out of power.

Did you save the nobles son and give the ring to the other noble? If you did, then tell Loghain you protected Anora from him when he asks what you did with her, and when Anora betrays you act surprised with either "WHAT?!" or "I saved you!". Do both those steps while using the "real threat is the blight", "you hired a blood mage to poison Eamon" and "you let Howe torture nobles" arguments, and you'll win by a landslide.

Is there a minimum number to this, though?

5 vs 2, something like that?

You'll get every single person who can possibly side with you, siding with you. The guy who ALWAYS sides with Loghain will be the only detractor.

I've never failed the Landsmeet... I had to learn about these scenarios otherwise. It's pretty straightforward, so long as you don't skip a bunch of quests.

Alright, now I feel bad.

I just checked the wiki and Ignacio doesn't actually ask you to do anything particularly wrong.

Your targets in Trial of Crows are enemies of the Grey Wardens. Oh, and a band of mercenaries.

I'll make sure to do that when I play this character again.

Those types of quests are usually targeted at someone, who works for Loghain, or at some stuck-up douche of a noble... I had no problem with them whatsoever (Crows, Slim Cauldry...). It's good money and loot on the side overall...  :)

You also indirectly rescue a little boy in one of them

Fyi, if you betray him at the very last second at the end of the quest... You don't get that noble backing you at the Landsmeet. The quest gets considered failed even though you did every single Crow assassination. I usually go this route, killing the bastard once his usefulness is over.
