Do you have similiar examples from Mass Effect? Cause you can't use DA:I for this, it's an entirely different system.

Yes, several times with EDI. She loves to eat bullets and jump in front of the enemies' line of attack. Hey, I know you're a robot, but that's a turret. On lower difficulty is ok, but on Insanity, it gets a bit frustrating. The amount of micromanagement could have been made a lot easier if I could switch to EDI in between.

Well, I'm seeing this argument more and more in these discussions:  Just don't use it...it's an option.  Well, said option costs time and resources better spent almost anywhere else.  Just keep in mind every time someone asks for a feature and Bioware accommodate the feature, something is being sacrificed as a result.  Are you okay with this feature at the cost of a companion, romance, story content, side missions, abilities...?

I was waiting for you to mention that. Anyway, except this option is something that is already there. With Multiplayer, all the animation and models are already completed. It's just about switching between them. It's not like in the previous thread about censorship, or have to work from the ground up or even obscure.

DA series is not the first or only game where you can control your companions.

DA series is not the first or only time where you can control your companions.

Strangely, even though it was similar to older ones, I never really had much need for the tactical play. Or maybe it was because older games just defaulted to pause, and I never bothered with DAO. It's not that hard though either way.

I know it's been a while but I'm pretty sure you could pause mid battle in all three ME games.

You could, just hold down the power menu. It's more making use of powers though than getting a layout of the battle.

lol, you're mad, brah? It's hilarious to think these insults hurt me. It's more like a reflection of you to bring up something unrelated. So, tell me, what kind of mental illness do you have for you to bring it up all of a sudden? Are you being bullied or something?

Well, only if you count holding down the pause key. That's not enough to switch to another character.

Keep it as it is in ME; ideally with less suicidal AI though... I tend to go with companions that have complimentary powers and switch their power-usage to defensive only. Playing through the trilogy again atm and I'll quite often use Overload to strip the shields from a target and then manually order Jack/Jacob to lift it and Garrus/Zaaed to Conc. Shot.

Which works fine so long as your companions don't decide to Rambo flank a Praetorian and stand in the open *sighs*

Yes and no.

Any change from the original approved game design is a deviation that uses unscheduled time and resources. However, said deviation can improve the game and thus gives value. Besides, the overall asset allocation includes extra buffers to handle the unforseen glitches, such as design flaws.

While something may be sacrificed,  I wouldn't worry too much because giving up a stupid side quest is worth the change.

As you said, it really comes down to value, time and resources. If an idea passes muster, it gets implemented.

I really struggle to understand what would be lost from adding this to the game.

Do you want to be able to control companions

Yes. We already get to choose their skills and their gear. Why not their actions?

There's gear in this new game?

Or do you just mean those suits from ME2/3.

It was supposed to be one of the features. I think if there are enough demands, it could happen.

Yeah for ME1 and they hadn't think of it since.

But the trilogy has ended, so who knows.

It's not on my top priorities for ME:A, but would be appreciated if it happened.
