Bizarre undersea critter: What's a 'Flying spaghetti monster'?

 

 

It's white. It's weird. It looks like a bowl of noodles turned upside down underwater. What is it? It's a "flying spaghetti monster."

Actually, "it" (the bizarre-looking creature) is Bathyphysa conifer, a deep-sea critter that was recently seen swimming off the coast of Angola. Workers at the oil and gas company BP videotaped this strange-looking animal while collecting video footage some 4,000 feet (1,220 meters) under the sea with a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV). Not knowing what the noodle-armed creature was, the BP crewmembers named it after what they thought it most resembled: the deity of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I hereby petition the world to rename our planet from Earth (who names their planet after dirt anyway?) to Kahje. Surely this species is the predecessor to the Hanar people and destined to become the dominant species (everything points to that conclusion, the global weather changes, the melting of the polar ice caps increasing the sea level).

 

Humanity may not survive the ways of fate, but if we're going to be a stepping stone to an intergalactic civilization, I say why contend with being a stepping stone when we can be a goddamn elevator!

If God has such an inferiority complex that he gets bent out of shape about a joke where a "Flying Spaghetti Monster" is the punch line, chances are I wouldn't be all that keen on his version of paradise laid out in the afterlife in the first place.
