Can you kill the dragon before zone 5?

In one of the zones (3 maybe) I noticed my target lock said Back Right Leg [yes, I play with controller, don't judge me]. Does that mean the dragon can be damaged before zone 5? If it can be damaged, can it be killed? What happens in zone 5 when you call the dragon but it's already dead?

Also I know a lot of y'all record your gameplay, so could you record it please?

Also a side question, does the dragon have an animation for when it is killed out of the air? I've seen some mages attacking the dragon as it flies around and was wondering if the dragon has a death animation for when it dies in the air. If someone has footage of that I'd like to see that too :3

No, you can't kill the dragon outside zone 5. And try REALLY hard not to kill it in the air, because if you do it's glitched and you can't finish the game.

I've been tantalized by that target marker too and have wondered not if I could kill it but whether I could whittle it down a bit before zone 5 begins.

Dragon does not take any damage before zone 5. Tried spamming abilities for the longest time, nothing.

I can confirm that the dragon is completely invincible until the landing is complete in zone 5 if the gong has been hit.

Had the dragon glitch out last night. He was clearly at no health but flew off, landed on one of the towers and just sat there. Didn't use breath weapon, didn't roar, no dragonlings spawned. Hit him about a half dozen times with the trebuchet and still nothing. Finally had to concede the game and drop the match.

I've got video of another instance where the dragon was dropped to zero health and was still trying to fly, but UNDER the surface of the "arena" where you fight. You could see his head and wings pop up as he "flew", but nothing could damage him.

Couple of wastes of hammers there, which is one reason I really hate doing FC anymore. If it's really that "special snowflake" so far as encounters go, then set it aside from the other types of matches so when you do a "random" it doesn't continually try throwing you into FC. That, or drop the need for the hammers altogether, or make them more reasonable to craft.

Can just host migrate to restart round 5 when that happens. How we used to solve problem in the key bug days. Ah reminds me of the good old days where 30% of the games you play can not finish. Wait those days were terrible. Good thing we only dc/bug out/no exp at end of match 15% of the games these days. Much better :D

No wonder my teams suck and die before wave 5, they are all looking around 'La Dee Da' up in the air at the dragon taking pot shots as the despair demons are raining hell down on us.

Isn't it invincible when it's in the air, period? Like when it flies away for the dragonlings to attack?

No, it isn't. Some days ago I was playing AW, the Dragon flew away, I still had it selected and used Stone Fist & Chain Lightning on it. The Dragon lost health when the spells hit it.

Also, it's vulnerable to ranged attacks on the towers. Ranged can sit bellow the tower and dps as long as the dragonlings are under control. I wouldnt neglect the trebuckets trying to chase the dragon around though

I thought all they did was make the dragon land the first time.

I am also confused by mention of killing the dragon in earlier zones. Essentially the dragon is set to be impervious to damage unless all of the following are true:

- players are in zone 5
- dragon has been summoned using a Dragon Call
- dragon is NOT flying

I'm interested to know what happened Ayer the dragon was killed?

I believe they are talking about if you kill dragon in flight during zone 5, the dragon will not land and just fly forever on the ground as a great land whale.

I haven't seen it take damage during a flying phase of the encounter, but I'll take people's word for it, even though BioMasika says it should be impossible, if I am reading the post correctly.

But I haven't seen it take off when it is low on health, either. That must be some broken ranged DPS for people to finish it off that way.

BioMasika indicates it should only be impossible before the 5th wave.

This only happens when you kill the dragon with the trebuchet as its flying off the tower. it won't happen if you try to kill the dragon while it's flying around

Correct

But you said the dragon is impervious unless "all of the following" are true. One of the conditions is the "dragon is not flying."

I did say that... I'm not sure I understand what you are getting at.
